20 Chapter 20: The Deal with the Devil

Hearing what Adam said, Gil and the others had an expression of disbelief. They can't tell from Adam's icy grey eyes whether he is joking or whether he is testing their bottom line.

Gil can't afford to be neglectful and must act in a careful manner. Adam is very powerful, and judging from how unfazed his eyes were when his skeletons are grinding zombies to pieces, he view Adam as someone who personally have blood on his hands.

Gil's brain is in turmoil. He knew that what he is going to say will decide the fate of his team. He swallowed hard and sweat is oozing on his body that in this few seconds he was drenched, and his breathing become rapid.

Adam who saw Gil's drenched and rapidly rising chest, he knew that his acting skill has paid off. ' Well, well, well, who knows that a movie star resides in me. Ahhh... it's a pain to become so talented.' Adam said to himself narcissistically, really wanting to strike a post right now for his audience.

" What? " Adam once again directed to Gil making the latter become even nervous.

" W-well, we do want those supplies. " Gil composed his words after trying really hard. It's now or never! It will be their luck if the boy will carry their team and if he is hostile.... they can only resign to fate. They have no confidence to even take a single step to escape from this dangerous teen.

' So sinister! so evil! Adam you're really working hard in this life.' Adam said consoling himself on experiencing for the first time the darkness of society, though the role is reversed because he was the one performing the darkness part.

Gil on the other hand become wary of Adam's word and at the same time, he saw hope. He didn't have any idea what the teen will ask in exchange but in this apocalyptic world, the weak can only surrender to the strong.

" I know. If you have any condition, please say it and we will try to achieve it." Gil said bravely like the one he is talking to is not a kid but an experienced mafia boss.

" Actually, you guys doesn't have anything worthy of me right at this moment, but... the future holds many chances. Maybe you can keep this as a favor from me and in the future... I'll find the time to ask it from you. " Adam said trying so hard to copy Arthus' accent, the only one he meets who have the closest tone of a villain. ' I'm sorry Arthus, I can only wrong your character in this one, even though I knew you only have a terrifying exterior but so caring and gentle inside.'

Gil tried to weight the pros and cons of this deal. Worst come to worst, he can only offer his life but he doubt whether his life will weight anything to the teen.

After a long time, Gil said to Adam. " Deal."

Deal.

The word that tied Gil and his team to the darkest force in history. A deal which brought them to the pinnacle of their lives.

But this is for the future. Right now, what Gil and his team felt is that they were held in the hands of a devil, a handsome and charming devil.

" Hmmm... happy cooperation then. " Adam said smiling slightly to the poor lambs. With the transformation of Adam's physical appearance, his move and words had an unexplainable grace in them. The slight smile he had shown looks like the satisfied expression of a demon who successfully pulled a poor soul to the depths of hell.

Gil and others can only tremble inside watching the cold smile from the teen. They felt it,.. the chain that had binds them.

" By the way, the name is Adam, it's a pleasure having a deal with you."

A blooming smile hangs on Adams lips saying these words, full of compulsion and seduction, worthy of being a summoner blessed by the Abyss.

Gil and others can only smile awkwardly feeling like their unkempt figure is not worthy of facing this charming devil. The two women can't even help but feel the slight jump in their hearts. But they become sober and realized their worth. The teen, who is named Adam, they are not worthy of him. They can only burry their thoughts and face Adam with a slight smile in their lips.

" Well, it's nice working with you Mr. Adam." Gil said while trying to extend his hands towards Adam for a handshake.

But before his hands can rise completely, Arthus who stood beside Adam unsheathed his broad sword slashing it towards Gil's extended hands.

The sword didn't hit his hand but a deep cut was formed on the ground indicating how terrifying that attack was.

Once again, Gil was drenched in cold sweat and even his soul shook this time.

" Hands... dirty. Don't dare to touch... the [ lord ]. "

Adam can only give a wry smile with a few twitch. ' How could I forget this clean freak beside him.'

Gil in the other hand can only take back his hand while holding it with the other feeling thankful that he was able to keep it.

" I'm sorry about that, Arthus had this habit of hacking dirty things." Adam said to Gil.

The team can only tremble on how close they were to a certain homicidal knight who stood beside Adam.

' Too close for comfort!'

" I-is that so? Then I'm sorry sir Arthus for being insolent." Gil said conceding towards the overbearing presence of Arthus.

" Let's talk about the cooperation now, shall we?" Adam said with a hint of smile like a villain doing extortion.
