Chapter 13: The Beginning of the Apocalypse

(In the outside world, currently at Planet Tran, Barhan Country, City B)

Gil and his team was able to locate the biggest mall in the city with the highest probability of having supplies. Why? It's because city B is one of those what you call a fallen City, which means no bases, army or any power who settles here. The city housing a population of 100,000 citizens were completely devoid of any sign of life except Adam who they saw yesterday commanding an army if skeletons.

A month ago, this city is still bustling with life but now.. what you will only see is the word "hell". Zombies are wandering on the roads, trap on buildings and some are even stuck on the sewers making every corner of the city dangerous.

The apocalypse had started because of the Holand Country who initiated the experiment they call " New Human " , a project started to treat people to fight the spread of a new epidemic called H2- virus. The experiment is supposed to make humanity resistant to diseases and extend life expectancy in addition to cure the virus. The virus had spread globally and become a major threat to humanity. Carriers of the virus didn't live past 2 months and the death of thousands of patient results to social unrest.

Experts around the world tried to develop a cure but it all ended in failure as they lack suitable experimental subjects.

Because of the increasing threat brought by the virus, the government in each country had taken drastic measures, human experiment. Each country had done their research and experiment but it all ended in failure. Until Holand announced that they developed a cure.

The world rejoiced by the news. A medicine that can save millions of lives against the virus was finally developed ignorant of the threat that will come a month later.

Countries around the world hasten the production of the vaccine. Rich countries even started to buy medicine in huge numbers to treat it's citizens. Clinical test had shown that the vaccine is actually effective therefore it had become unknown what had gone wrong to result in making most people who taken the vaccine turn into zombies. All the people know is that before these people become zombies, acidic rain with strong smell of chemical solution rained all over Planet Tran.

50% of the world's population had fallen the day after the global acid rain. Major countries who bought the first batch and most number of vaccine were the first to fall. Then, before even other countries can prepare, their citizens had become zombies resulting in losing more than 3/4 of the population in just a month.

After experiencing a few days of the zombie siege, people with abilities, evolutionary and awakened suddenly sprouted among the survivors. No one knew what brought the evolution of these people and how ' legacy ' emerge. Maybe their planet is entering a new age or another civilization had design this. All the survivors know is that evolutionary and awakened existed to continue the human race.

Having these evolutionary and awakened as the center of development, survival bases emerge one after another in each surviving countries.

The country of Barhan, one of the last era's leading country was able to survive the apocalypse after losing 78% of its population numbering 110 million. The remaining 24.2 million people were divided into hundreds of bases. The power distribution established in the Bahran mainly revolved by 3 powers, the army, a base called Trojan and a self proclaimed church who call themselves mankind's last hope , Espoir Church which also called the Church of Hope by it's devotees.

Each of these major powers controlled the lower power in the country. The army manages the north, Trojan on the west and the church on the east. South had no manager because the southern part of the country was basically the land of the dead right now. People who tried to establish bases there was overwhelmed by the zombie tide not to mention the huge numbers of hunters, bulls, commander and other zombie variants.

Hunters are the speed type zombies who excelled in assassination. Bull are as what it's name suggest, a tank who blasts concrete walls like nothing and the trickiest of them all, the commander, who manipulates the action of the zombie tide. Thankfully, commanders are very rare and only 2 of them so far had shown in the past month.

The strength of the zombies are rated the same with it's human counterparts. Tier 1-5 human evolutionary and awakened was currently known in Bahran same with the zombies.

But in these power system, awakened and variant zombies had an obvious advantage compared to normal evolution and advance zombies. If fighting one on one, a human evolutionary will have a hard time contending against and awakened if not directly defeated. It's the same with the zombies as variants are stronger than advance zombies as they are equipped with unique abilities like the awakened.

Gil was absent minded for a while remembering how drastic the world changes. As a tier 1 evolutionary, he only belong to the lowest class but he still have a better condition than those ordinary people. At least he had the capital to struggle in life unlike others who can only rely on guns and other weapons. Unfortunately, these things are limited because most of it's production industry was basically abolished.

In their base , Pandora, which was under the jurisdiction of the army lead by the " Flame Magician " Rhea, a tier 4 awakened is one of the strongest base under the army. Their base had some supplies of guns and ammunition because the army was able to re-establish its production line. As a subordinate force, their base had a constant supply of this weapons even though the amount is still controlled due to the scarcity of the material. Rumors even spread that the army have a special awaken who possess a special ability in making these weapons.

Returning his gaze at the mall, Gil concluded that entering the mall is a difficult task for a six man team with only a single tier 1 evolutionary.

City B which have 100,000 people in the past only had dense number of zombies at this moment.

In the rooftop of an apartment where Gil and his team made a safe house, they can see the condition of the mall a few blocks away. Hundreds of zombies are roaming in the area. The zombies inside the mall are not even counted because they can't see the condition inside.

" I think we really need the kid's help. "
