16 Chapter 15: Edward City!

The day after the accident the news anchor was currently breaking news about Edward City, an event that would baffle everyone.
"Breaking news, on the night of April 05 Edward City, a thriving and developing metropolis, has suffered a disconcerting and terrifying fate. An incident of unimaginable proportions has caused the sudden disappearance of this city, leading its inhabitants and structures to an unknown fate."
"The sudden disappearance of Edward City has baffled the entire country. There are fears for the safety and fate of the inhabitants who were in the city at the time of the incident, as their whereabouts remain unknown."
"Local authorities, together with experts in mysterious phenomena and leading scientists, are investigating this extraordinary and terrifying event in search of explanations and possible solutions."
"Recall that a year ago the city was closed, the entry and exit of basic commodities for daily life had to go through a rigorous inspection, Mr. President has called a press conference to give his report. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available."
[Department of Homeland Security]
Boom!
A loud bang was heard in the conference room "How can it be possible that the city is gone! Didn't they follow security protocols?!" It was the head of the national security department who had knocked on the table where everyone was gathered.
On the other side a scientist could be seen shaking, this scientist was saved from the accident because he had asked for a leave of absence to see his family. Just as he left the city the accident occurred and he witnessed the city disappear by a bright light.
"The head of the department had long failed to follow protocols, you risked safety for speed sir." Said the scientist as he lowered his head and trembled due to the fear the security chief caused him.
"Damn! That damn ambitious bastard, I knew it was a bad idea for the president to allow them to research the third energy."
Turning to his right the security chief gave an order, "Get Kirk out of his prison, we'll get him to work so he can investigate the accident and give us a solution to rescue our countrymen."
"Yes sir" Rising quickly from the conference room one of the stewards left to carry out his orders.

[Edward City]
A fat journalist was locked in a public toilet, hidden from the dinosaurs, this journalist wanted to find out why the city had been closed a year ago, several of his colleagues wanted to sneak in, but all failed only he with his cunning managed to pass the security posing as a cleaning worker.
Unfortunately for him, he snuck in on the day of the accident. When the chaos occurred due to the dinosaur attack, he ran to the public restroom to hide.
As time passed and he heard no noise he decided to go out, advancing through the streets that were now full of corpses of both dinosaurs and citizens, taking out his camera he took pictures of all the chaos that took place.
Hearing some footsteps behind him, he quickly turned around to find a huge surprise, a velociraptor was trying to get rid of a citizen who was drugged and had him held like a horse.
"Giddy up buddy! Now I'm The Flintstones hehe!" Shouted the drugged man as he held the velociraptor tightly.
Seeing the scene unfolding, the journalist urgently took pictures. Because he was engrossed in taking pictures he didn't notice several pterodactyls heading towards him and the drugged man.
"What's that flapping? Ehhhh! Help!" Without warning one of the pterodactyls grabbed him with its strong claws and began to carry him away causing his camera to fall and photograph him being carried away.
Being in the air he struggled to free himself when he heard a voice next to him "Wow dude! I feel like Superman! I belive I can fly!" It was the same stoned guy.
Ignoring the drugged shoulder the journalist kept struggling, managing to get the pterodactyl to let go because he was too fat. He landed in a tree safe and sound.
Sighing with relief, the journalist joyfully exclaimed, "I made it! Thank God!" Turning around because he heard a breath, he froze as there was a T-rex staring at him.
"Oh shit!" was the last thing he said before being devoured.

[Edward City Military Shelter]
A family was fleeing from the velociraptor attack, the father was badly wounded, so the flight was very slow. They made it, but the father frowned as he heard the military speak with panic in their voice.
"General The door won't close, we must do something!"
"Damn it, the power system is failing right at this very moment!"
The citizens quickly panicked as they heard what the military was talking about, they feared the dinosaurs would come in and kill them.
"Is there any way that the doors will manage to close? I speak to one of the military men inside the shelter.
"Yes, the emergency lever is outside! We need to activate it, but whoever activates it must know that they are locked out and won't be able to get in. I doubt anyone wants to risk it." Said a military man.
Hearing all this the father looked at his wife who was crying while hugging his daughter and his son who was supporting him with his shoulder so that he would not fall down. Looking at his wounds he made a decision.
Letting go of his son, he slowly advanced to the entrance of the shelter. Looking at his father, the son exclaimed in bewilderment, "Dad, where are you going? Come back," he said as he moved to catch up with his father.
Turning to look at him seriously the father spoke "Mark, you know with these injuries I won't last long. Let me do something for you one last time."
"Dad! What are you talking about?"
Ignoring his son the father turned to a military man and with a serious tone spoke "Sir I will activate the lever."
Looking at the civilian who spoke to him the military man was puzzled "I can't do that, it's my duty to protect civilians" He said while shaking his head in denial.
"Sir, as you can see I don't think I will last long with these wounds, let me do it." Despite the denial the father did not give up and with determined eyes he looked at the military man.
Looking at his wounds and at the people who were panicking the military man made a decision "Fine, we'll give you covering fire."
With a tired smile the father advanced towards the exit, his son quickly grabbed him by the arm and with tears he spoke "Don't do it dad" the son knew that his father had made a decision, but in spite of that he tried to convince him to stay.
Looking at his son the father gave him a smile "I know you care about my son, but a man's duty is to protect his family, so with the last of my energy I will protect you, take care of your mother and sister."
Letting go of his son he continued to move forward. Looking at his father who advanced with determination the son cried, he tried to stop his father, but some soldiers stopped him and shook their heads, knowing that the sacrifice of that man would save many.
Before leaving the shelter a soldier gave him a grenade, with a look the father understood the meaning, nodding he continued walking.
Leaving the shelter he saw how many velociraptors were approaching in the distance, he decided to hurry and go to the lever that was on his left side.
As he advanced the bullets passed by him, giving him cover, as if some deity appreciated his sacrifice, no raptor managed to get close to him, allowing him to reach the lever.
With determination he lowered it, immediately the doors began to close, looking at the entrance the father caught a glimpse of his wife who in tears cried out his name. "Aleeeex!!!"
Giving her a smile for the last time the father turned around and removed the pin on the grenade, as he looked at the approaching raptors and thus his impending death, memories of his entire life flashed through his mind in a matter of seconds, his childhood, how he met his wife and when his children were born.
"Well, men have to die anyway, although the important thing is to do it the right way." Was the last thing the father said to later explode along with the raptors who rushed towards him.
The explosion hit a fuel container which caused an even bigger explosion, causing most of the velociraptors to be engulfed, dying from the blast or from the burns of the explosion.

[Department of Homeland Security]
In the conference room a disheveled and unkempt looking man could be seen being restrained by handcuffs and with guards at his back, this person was Dr. Edward Kirk.
"So, what do you want me for?" asked Kirk in a mocking voice, he had gotten an idea of why they needed him.
Hearing his mocking voice the head of the department showed no reaction, he simply put his fingers together and in a calm tone said "Dr. Kirk the third energy experiment has caused an entire city to disappear, we need a solution to save the people of the city--."
"Hahaha I knew it was something like that, you greedy bastards, you steal my research and now you want me to give you help, go to hell!" Kirk said interrupting the head of the department, looking at his face Kirk rejoiced, that's what they get for wanting to steal his life's work.
Undeterred at what Kirk said the department head continued speaking "I understand your anger Dr, but we weren't the ones who went along with your experiment, it was the technology department.
"So it was that bastard Michelle! I'm glad that happened to her, hopefully the bastard gets eaten by a dinosaur!"
"I understand your anger Dr. Kirk, but we need your cooperation in order to rescue the people of Edward City, if you cooperate you will be released and you can continue with your third energy experiment." Said the department head.
"Haha For sure the idiots were transported to the dinosaur era, I don't know, I need to see the energy residues left behind to be able to calculate the time when the city space was exchanged" said Kirk while looking at all the department heads with an arrogant look.
"Very well Dr. Kirk, we will take you to the site how long do you think it will take to get them located?"
"If I have the data they stole from me it will take me a month or less to make a generator that will make a portal to the time they were taken."
"With that order all the others got up, Kirk would be escorted to the place where the accident took place.
Being alone in the conference room the head of the department made a call, "I need a special team to prepare for an urgent rescue mission, you must be ready for any time you are requested." Hanging up the call to redial a specific number.
"I need agent Regina, cancel all her missions and bring her back." With that last order the chief leaned back in his chair and let out a heavy sigh of frustration. "With this news the third energy information won't be long in coming, we need to prepare for everything."

[Location unknown]
In a luxurious apartment was our protagonist working out. A call interrupted his exercise session, taking his phone he answered.
"Hello little bear, what do you need?"
"There is a job with a huge pay, they need you to go to USA, they want to meet privately with you, apparently there was an accident in the US that made a whole city disappear. I'll send you the coordinates of the meeting place."
"Understood, I'll be right there." Hanging up the call, Axel chuckled a little, it had already been a year since Ibis Island and the city they were referring to was Edward City. Surely they were requesting his services to retrieve the third energy data.
"I guess fate wants me to get involved in Dino crisis 2. Regina, here goes your man again." Chuckling Axel began to prepare for his next assignment.

Hello this is your autor.
I recently found a Lord of the Rings Fanfic written by a Chinese guy and to my surprise he got the names right! Every once in a while a little bit of Chinese food was mentioned.
The point is that it's a good way to take inspiration to make a lord of the rings fic.
