7 Monsters

At the time when the family is still on the way home, in the same place where the 5 figures covered in light is having a conversation...

Solotar suddenly spoke, "It's gonna start soon huh?" The figure paused briefly before continuing as he looked to the others, "Are you guys planning to send in your own inheritance along with your collections this time?"

Valera, Aldrin and Seresa nodded their heads. Solotar nodded at them gratefully. "Thank you for helping." to which they all nodded at him in understanding, the meaning being, "Don't mention it."

"Well then, let's get started-" Solotar was about to start the process of sending the inheritances when he was suddenly interrupted.

"Wait. I'll send mine as well."

The other four looked at Jilero who interrupted in surprise.

Solotar asked doubtfully, "Are you sure?" Jilero just nodded at Solotar's question.

Valera asked in a curious voice, "Why the sudden change of mind?"

"I have a feeling that this world might have a chance of surviving this evolution." Jilero simply said.

Jilero's answer made them shocked even more. They were about to ask for more information but seeing Jilero not willing to talk anymore, they just let it go.

Countless balls of light suddenly appeared around each of them and converged in the center, forming a big ball the size of a basketball that has multiple colors.

Then, it shoot towards somewhere in a fast speed and in less than a few seconds, it disappeared from their vision.

All of them couldn't help but sigh as they thought inwardly, 'We have done our best. Now it's your turn to do your best to survive.'

They all said out loud simultaneously, "Good luck."

Meanwhile, a heated argument between all the higher ups of all countries in the world is currently happening as they had an online virtual meeting.

Blaming, accusing, insulting, cursing, all kinds of words were thrown at each other as the situation became more and more chaotic while billions of people are watching it live.

That's when a middle aged man in a grey suit coughed loudly which successfully stopped the arguments as they focused on him.

Someone asked the middle aged man, "What is it, President Harvy?"

President Harvy, the president of Valland, one of the leading countries in this generation and also where Karl and his family is living spoke up.

"This isn't the time to accuse each other of whoever caused this event."

A middle aged man also in grey suit sneered as he said, "And why do you say that? Could it be that you are the one responsible for this and you just want to hide it, huh?"

President Harvy just shook his head and said, "Mr. NG representative. It looks like you have something you know that you want to share. Please do so."

The focus turned towards a man in a lab coat that acts as the representative of a group of scientists named New Gen or NG for short, an unaffiliated group and it's sole purpose is to discover new theories and invent technologies. It was founded and headed by none other than Sophie Rein, Karl's mother who is one of the most famous scientist.

The man sweated when he felt the pressure from so many influential people at the same time. He nervously said, "The scientists from the NG said that the black screen can't be tracked because it is made out of something not known or have been discovered yet. So either the one who perpetrated this mess is good at hiding it till now, or it might be something else that the whole world doesn't know yet."

President Harvy said to the man, "Give it to us straight."

The man gulped hard, "Wait and prepare for the worst."

Silence fell upon the meeting as a dark feeling appeared in everyone's hearts.

The moment the bell rang around the whole Earth, the whole atmosphere changed as it became heavier.

All of humanity fell down in the floor, gasping desperately for air as they felt pressure all over their body.

Good thing that all the streets around the world was empty of cars as all the people didn't dare leave their house, so there were no car crashes, except for a few stubborn fools who didn't give any shit to the screen and still thinks it was a prank. In the end they all died miserably.

As for those who were in the airplane when the countdown started, well they turned on autopilot just to be sure which saved them from crashing.

The whole world fell silent for a moment as all actions of humanity ceased for a moment and while all humans were still gasping for air, suddenly they were covered in a blue round barrier that encased them.

All of them panicked, thinking for the worst. That's when a screen lit up in front of them again and what it showed is...

***

Back in the house of Reins', Sophie, Lucy and Jannah fell down and they gasped desperately for air while sweating all over their body.

Karl though, managed to still stand, albeit a little weak and wobbly. He is taking deep breaths, controlling his breathing to calm down his body while cursing, "What the fuck is happening?"

Then the whole family is covered in the blue barrier. Right as Karl is about to shoot it and broke it down, a screen appeared in front of him which stopped his movement.

[Humans, your world is currently undergoing evolution to become a greater world. And during that time, all of your lives will be on danger of losing it.]

"It looks like my bad feeling is right, though I wish I wasn't" Karl said to himself.

After that the screen changed.

[Right now, the evolution is currently on phase 1, "Accumulation". It means that world energy, or simply called mana in your own terms, will start accumulating on the air, that's why you are currently in that state since your body is adapting to this mana. Of course, all things on Earth would also be affected, but as for what kind, we cannot tell you. As for what mana is, you may already have an idea about that.]

"Mana? Like those fantasy thing that could give your powers?" Karl frowned when he saw that. He didn't want to believe in the mysterious screen's words, but what's happening to his body is undoubtedly real.

Due to his training, Karl is sensitive about the changes in his body. Right now, as Karl started to slowly adapt to this mana, he could feel his body becoming just a bit stronger, which greatly shocked him, and solidified the thought of the screen's words being true.

[Other than that, we are here to give you a choice to pick the inheritances or to simplify it, classes, to help you control mana and gain strength. Strength that you will need to survive.]

[All of you have 4 choices, and those choices vary from person to person. Of course, you could pick nothing at all, but we recommend not to do that because you would be wasting our help.]

[Yes, you heard that right, we are here to help. It's up to you whether to believe us, but considering your circumstances, we at least recommend to give us the benefit of the doubt and accept this help from us. For your survival.]

Karl frowned even more. He seriously doubted the person, or what it look like people's reason for helping them.

'Judging by what have they done already, they surely have mystical abilities. But the question is, why would they help us, humans with only the special thing to our names are the technology that we invented.'

No matter what Karl do, he couldn't even think of a single reason why.

Then the screen changed again and when he looked he saw this.

[Choose your class.]

1. Baneful demon

2. Divine monk

3. Mighty Brawler

4. Devil's eye

[120 seconds left remaining.]

Karl looked at the bottom and found the word, "None".

The timer continued to tick down as seconds pass by. Karl didn't know whether he should trust the people helping or not trust them and choose none instead.

He looked at his family, which by now is able to stand on their feet again, though a little weak and pale.

Karl said straight to the point, "Would you guys choose a class?"

The girls looked at him and Sophie replied, "The biggest issue here is whether it can be trusted or not. Who knows what will happen to us if we choose a class."

Then Lucy interjected, "But if the class turned out to be safe and we still chose none, we would be at a disadvantage since we don't have an idea on how to control mana."

All of them thought for a second before remembering something as they all looked at Jannah.

"Honey, you said that you liked reading fantasy novels right?" asked Sophie.

"Ehhh?" Jannah was confused for a second before she understand what they want to ask of her.

"Ohh, so your asking me about that. Well mana is just a new form of energy that makes things impossible, possible. They can make us stronger, live longer and other such fabtasy stuffs. I'm not just sure if this mana the screen is talking about have the same principles to what I usually know in the novels. But considering that they called this world energy as mana that we are familiar with, then it's most likely the same."

After hearing Jannah's long explanation, they became quiet for a moment until Karl asked her again.

"What would happen to the other organisms when they were exposed to this mana?"

Jannah paled for a moment which the family noticed immediately.

"What is it Jannah?" Lucy anxiously asked her sister.

"Well, they- they turn to monsters." Jannah fearfully told them.

As if responding to her words, sounds of barking dogs, hissing cats, and other animals paired with screaming people can be suddenly heard from the outside.

The family looked at each other with a grave look in their faces.
