In The Sky

Ellie's fear gradually transformed into a mix of intrigue and determination. She nodded slowly, wiping her tears away, and mustered the courage to take a step forward. Auric smiled, his heart swelling with pride and relief.

"That's my brave sister," he whispered, his voice filled with affection.

Magnus observed their courage with a smile as he made his way to check if the preparations were complete.

After some time, as Auric and Ellie were engrossed in conversation, Magnus approached them. "Well, we can start the journey anytime now."

Auric nodded, his smile widening as he noticed Ellie grabbing his hand. It seemed that even though she was scared, she didn't want to let her brother down.

They approached the fascinating beast and saw Magnus affectionately rubbing the face of the creature. "Meet Carla. I have been taking care of her since she was a hatchling. The clan entrusted her to me."

In response, Carla, the wyvern, let out a roar that almost sounded like a purr.

Auric watched in fascination as Magnus interacted with the magnificent creature.

"Now, aboard!" Magnus called out.

Upon hearing Magnus's words, both Auric and Ellie, who was still scared, climbed the stairs to the back of the wyvern, which made it easier to mount the beast.

They settled into two of the five secured seats. Ellie kept her eyes tightly shut, her grip on Auric's hand firm, while Auric chuckled weakly.

"Did you bring everything?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, then let's go,"

Magnus pulled the reins, and the wyvern began flapping its giant wings.

As the wyvern ascended, Ellie still clung tightly to her brother's hand, as if afraid that letting go would cause her to be swept away by the wind.

The wyvern took off, and within seconds, they were soaring through the sky.

"So, how is it? Not too bad, eh?" Magnus asked with a chuckle.

"No, sir Magnus, it's absolutely awesome," Auric replied, his eyes fixed on the ground that seemed so far below them.

As the wyvern soared through the sky, Auric couldn't help but gaze down at the world below. The ground, once so familiar and close, now seemed distant and insignificant from his vantage point high above. The trees, houses, and rivers appeared like miniature replicas, their details blending into a mosaic of colors and shapes.

Auric marveled at the vastness of the landscape, stretching out before him in a breathtaking panorama. The winding rivers resembled delicate silver ribbons, meandering through lush green forests. The patchwork of fields and farmlands resembled a painter's canvas, vibrant and full of life.

Unlike flying in a plane, where everything appeared distant and disconnected, riding on the wyvern allowed Auric to feel intimately connected to the world below. He could feel the wind on his face, the rhythm of the wyvern's powerful wings, and the raw energy of being suspended in the air.

He couldn't help but compare this awe-inspiring moment to his previous experiences flying in an airplane. From the sky, the view was detached, like observing a moving picture from a distance. But now, with the wyvern, he was a part of the picture itself. The experience was visceral, immersive, and filled with a sense of freedom.

Auric's eyes widened as he spotted a group of deer like beasts gracefully leaping across a meadow. He watched as birds danced in the sky, their wings catching the sunlight. The beauty and harmony of nature unfolded beneath him, a spectacle he had never witnessed with such clarity before.

The wyvern's flight was not just a means of transportation; it was an extraordinary journey through realms of both awe and self-discovery.

Ellie clung tightly to Auric's arm, her eyes tightly shut, and her body trembling with nervousness. She was overwhelmed by the height, the speed, and the vastness of the world around them. Auric, sensing her unease, gently squeezed her hand and spoke in a reassuring tone.

"Ellie, open your eyes," he encouraged, his voice filled with encouragement. "The view is incredible. You don't want to miss it."

Ellie hesitated for a moment, her grip on Auric's arm tightening. But with his gentle urging and her own curiosity tugging at her, she slowly opened her eyes, squinting against the rush of wind. As she did, a mixture of fear and awe played across her face.

Auric pointed out the window of the wyvern, directing Ellie's attention to the breathtaking sight below. "Look at how small everything appears from up here. The world is so vast, and we get to see it from a perspective that most people can only dream of."

As Ellie timidly glanced downward, her eyes widened in wonder. The panoramic view unfolded before her, revealing a tapestry of landscapes, cities, and nature's wonders. The sight of rolling hills, shimmering lakes, and bustling towns filled her with a sense of awe.

Auric's words continued to encourage her. "See how the rivers wind through the valleys like ribbons? Look at the small forests, teeming with life. And over there, do you see the birds?"

Gradually, Ellie's grip on Auric's arm relaxed, and she began to absorb the breathtaking view. Her fear was replaced by a growing sense of wonder and excitement. The sheer magnificence of the scenery unfolded before her eyes, captivating her in a way she had never imagined.

Auric smiled, delighted to see Ellie gradually embracing the experience.

Just as Auric and Ellie were entranced by the stunning aerial view, their reverie was abruptly interrupted by Magnus's urgent voice. Startled, they turned their attention to him, noticing the seriousness etched on his face.

"Young master and little lady, hold onto the frame tightly!" Magnus exclaimed, his voice tinged with concern. "We are going to land!"

Auric furrowed his brow in confusion. They had only just embarked on their journey, and it seemed too soon to be landing. Doubts and worries crept into his mind. Was Magnus deceiving them? Did he have ulterior motives? But why now?

Sensing Auric's unease, Magnus clarified, "There are some monsters in the valley on the right side, and it seems they will attack anyone who comes near them. There's also a village nearby."

Well as the head of one of the military bases, it's Magnus's duty to protect the citizens from such threats.

Auric's initial suspicion subsided.

With a swift nod, Auric tightened his grip on the wyvern's frame, securing himself and Ellie. Ellie mirrored his actions, clutching the frame tightly with her small hands.

As the wyvern began its descent, gradually lowering its altitude, Auric and Ellie could make out the figures of several monstrous creatures below. Their hearts raced with a mix of excitement and trepidation as they identified a group of six ogres congregating in the distance. These hulking beings, with their massive frames and brutish features, presented a formidable sight.

The wyvern landed at a safe distance from the ogres, allowing Auric and Ellie to disembark. The ground beneath their feet felt solid and reassuring after their airborne journey. They exchanged glances, acknowledging the presence of the ogres and the need to proceed with caution.

Stepping forward, Magnus positioned himself between Auric, Ellie, and the potential threat. His commanding presence exuded strength and confidence as he assessed the situation before them. His eyes scanned the ogres, evaluating their strength and devising a plan to ensure the safety of his young charges, despite being much stronger than these wannabe monsters, they still pose a threat to the kids.

Auric felt a mix of apprehension and excitement. He knew they couldn't linger for long in the presence of these dangerous creatures, but the sight of them also ignited a sense of adventure within him. He tightened his grip on Ellie's hand, silently reassuring her of their safety and the support they had from Magnus.

With a nod from Magnus, they set off on foot, leaving the wyvern behind. Each step they took brought them closer to the ogres, their footsteps determined and resolute.

The ogres, initially unaware of the intruders, suddenly caught wind of their presence as one of the larger creatures turned its head, releasing a deep, rumbling growl. The sound reverberated through the air, alerting the rest of the ogres to the intruders trespassing on their territory. Their beady eyes locked onto the approaching figures.

Auric felt his heart thumping in his chest, his veins pulsating with adrenaline. He motioned for Ellie to stay by his side and maintain a steady pace. As they drew nearer, the formidable figures of the ogres came into sharper focus, their gruff voices and heavy footsteps echoing through the air.

Sensing the sudden shift in atmosphere, Magnus halted his steps and turned to face Auric. His voice carried a mixture of authority and reassurance as he addressed the young adventurer, his unwavering gaze fixed upon him.

"Young master, prepare yourself. This will serve as both a test and a valuable learning experience for you. When I give the signal, be ready to engage in combat," Magnus declared, his voice carrying the weight of countless battles fought and won.

Auric's eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected turn of events. He had not anticipated a confrontation with the ogres to occur so swiftly, but deep down, he recognized the significance of this moment. Sooner or later, he would have to face adversaries even more powerful than these monstrous creatures.
