Chapter 0 - Vengeance [1]

"How long do you want to be like that?"

Blood was rushing down the head of that man who was propping up his body with a sword that stabbed into the ground. He gritted his teeth when the man who had just asked.

"Quickly kill me or Byrhemmoth will kill you!" he asked.

He repeatedly asked to be killed, but the man in front of him kept silent.

It was clear that the black-haired man was no longer able to fight. Some of his bones might have been broken, the wounds were everywhere in his body, and he couldn't even stand up.

However, he insisted on taking the very risky path.

"I can't! You're still alive and I can't–"

"Kill me."

Shintae keeps asking to be killed. Continuously until Jihoon could only bluff whenever his refusals were interrupted by Shintae's request.

They were in the middle of a battle. Corpses lying on the ground. Filled with blood as if the place was being flooded with blood.

Ruins are everywhere. An endless fierce battle. Smoke was billowing heavily in several places and the fire was still burning.

It was chaotic at that place.

Only Jihoon and Shintae's bodies were left in the Dungeon. Arguing whether to kill immediately or not to kill.

Jihoon became depressed when he heard Shintae's request to kill him immediately. An unstoppable emotion for not having any other way.

In the end, the sword stuck in the ground he tried to pull out. But unfortunately, his strength had run out after fighting the most difficult enemy to defeat.

At that moment, a burst of laughter filled the place. It was as if his laughter was capable of splitting the currently red sky.

"Foolish human! Being too naive will only kill you early in the fight!"

The words came out of Shintae's mouth. It made Jihoon's eyes widen when he caught his friend's 180-degree change in speech.

Jihoon lifted his face to see what kind of face Shintae was currently using. However, his eyes widened at the change in his friend's appearance.

"Shi– Shintae?"

"Byrhemmoth! The Greatest King of Darkness! No one can beat me!" Byrhemmoth corrected Jihoon's words.

Who would have thought that the enemies of the Hunters were now in front of Jihoon's eyes?

Inside his friend's body; is a friend who is always there for him.

"Byr– Byrhemmoth!" Jihoon exclaimed.

Seeing the aura that surrounds Shintae's body it is clear that the one who is currently speaking is no longer his friend, but the Lord of Darkness. Filled with a black aura that is so deep; very different from the bright green color of Shintae's aura.

The only thing that distinguishes Shintae from Byrhemmoth is only one. There are black markings in the form of thorns that curve under his eyes.

"Don't you know?" Byrhemmoth spoke again.

"That human is already dead because my power is far greater than his."

He spread out both Shintae's hands so that the black aura spread around his body.

"Look. His soul had faded when he asked you to kill him," continued Byrhemmoth.

Something appeared above his head. Prominent and black increasingly elongated. It looks like a devil's horn.

Byrhemmoth smirked.

"Th– that can't be possible, right?"

However, Jihoon still couldn't believe what was happening. His eyes widened as if they wanted to get out of place.

Seeing Jihoon's who was in shock, Byrhemmoth laughed so hard.

"What a fool!" despised Byrhemmoth.

"Seeing a weak human like you, the more I want to destroy all humans on this earth!" he continued.

Jihoon didn't flinch. He was still in a state of shock. His body stiffened to look at the appearance of his friend; Shintae who is now under Byrhemmoth's control.

Was what Byrhemmoth said true that Shintae had died?

"Isn't it fun?"

Byrhemmoth moved his hand. Look at his black nails. A sinister smile never faded on his lips.

"You guys are too naive and confident to beat me and thanks to you that I don't need to bother walking around looking for useless humans!"

He continued to chatter while Jihoon was busy forcing himself to accept reality.

"Your strength is very weak and you seem very confident to defeat a king like me!"

That's right. Jihoon was a mid-ranked Hunter and he bravely challenged Byrhemmoth to fight him alone.

"Too naive that I want to taste every bit of your flesh and blood. Against my strength alone, you're already crying and rolling," continued Byrhemmoth who never stopped chattering.

Byrhemmoth's words this time reminded Jihoon of the death of his friends. All of them died fighting against the Lord of Darkness– Byrhemmoth who is in front of his eyes right now.

They all died horribly, then were laughed at and belittled by Byrhemmoth. And now, his friend; Shintae must be a vessel for the body of the Lord of Darkness.

"Unfortunately, this body is the most powerful of all beings. But, his soul is so stubborn. Why not just give in so I can take full control of this body?"

Byrhemmoth doesn't care about the feelings of its enemies. He was busy looking at his hand. So happy that Jihoon raised his voice again.

"Just, shut your mouth …."

The voice was low and full of emphasis. It caught Byrhemmoth's attention and saw that Jihoon was holding his weight with the sword that was being stabbed into the ground.

The man with black hair looked down. Hiding her pale face and yellow irises; which at any time can stare intently at the enemy.

Those eyes are what Byrhemmoth wanted to get instead of Shintae's brown irises.

Jihoon grimaced as his body felt like it was breaking. He kept trying to stand up, but until now, there was no spirit to get up.

"If Shintae dies … won't his body also rot soon?"

Jihoon remembers his lessons at school. But, should he bring up the conversation when his friend's life or death is not clear?

"Hmm?"

Byrhemmoth tilted his head.

"Oh, rotting." His mouth is in an o shape. There was no overreaction before but after that—

A smile that was so wide on Shintae's face appeared.

"That wouldn't have happened if–"

Crat.

At that very moment, Byrhemmoth stopped talking. His mouth was shut when blood seeped from his left cheek. He looked away, staring at the black-haired human who even had an aura almost as dark as his own.

It was seen that Jihoon's hand is stretched forward. Explaining that he had just unleashed an attack by throwing the blade at Byrhemmoth face and luckily, managed to hit his enemy's left cheek.

The yellow iris glared at Byrhemmoth.

"I will never forgive you, Byrhemmoth."

Those eyes are full of madness, sharp eyes, and a serious face. Especially the yellow color in Jihoon's irises that made Byrhemmoth want his body even more.

However, instead of answering, Byrhemmoth chose to remain silent. Staring at the human who was filled with anger gathered the strength to stand up and attack him.

Jihoon got up and grimaced in pain all over his body which was now not much with the pain in his heart.

"The human body is easily destroyed." Jihoon trembled.

He lifted his face, strengthening his footstool to push his body closer to the human-shaped monster.

"If exposed to fire, it will turn to ash; if the water pressure is so high, it will explode; and it's very easy for the virus to attack that body."

The roar of irregular breaths made Jihoon's emotions more unstable. He wasn't doing well with unintentional tears streaming down his face, his teeth gritted, and his eyes glaring at Byrhemmoth.

Not saying much this time, Jihoon tried to smirk.

"You chose the wrong body, dark creature."
