3 Being adventurer
I open the door of the adventurer's guild.
"Wow!"
I unintentionally raise my voice because of what I see. It's really like what I saw in animes and games. Because of what I did, all the people inside was looking at me. WAH!.. IT'S EMBARASSING! I shouted in my mind.
After a few second they start their own business again like nothing happens. Even it's awkward I continue walking and found the counter. I fall in line and wait for my turn, but it's really uncomfortable because I sense so many people secretly glancing at me. I thought that the thing earlier was already over!
"Next"
While being conscious in my surroundings the receptionist girl called for me, so it's already my turn. I didn't notice it because I'm focus in my surroundings. A move forward and talk to the receptionist girl.
"I want to register as an adventurer"
The receptionist girl make a surprised face but change it back to normal quickly. Why did she do that kind of expression? am I not qualified for being adventurer? But all of my question was answered in her response.
"Do you really like becoming an adventurer with that kind of attire sir?"
When I look to myself I quickly understand what she mean. Looking at myself right now I'm wearing a black t-shirt and pants, it's more like I'm going to a city stroll than registering as an adventurer.
"It's alright, I will buy a proper attire after taking a request. Can I register now?, miss beautiful"
WAH!.. what's get into my mind saying that cheesy line at the end. Is it because I'm a virgin when I died or because I was rejected by all the girls I confessed of. Stop thinking your nightmare myself, calm let's be calm. But this girl is really beautiful, she have a long red hair and glossy white skin and most of all a very alluring figure.
After I calm myself I look to receptionist girl, oh! she's blushing a little, maybe I got a chance on this girl. Making my delusions running, suddenly I felt the atmosphere become heavy, when I look back I saw the piercing glance of the adventurers. So the register girl is popular here hah, maybe I need to distance myself so I don't get into trouble. It's a waste but I want a peaceful happy-go-lucky life here in my second life.
The register girl take something under the table and gave it to me.
"Fill up this paper sir, do you know how to read and write?"
"Yes, I know how to read and write"
I answered the girl and she smile happily. Why did she smiled like that, is having an ability to read and write is something to be celebrate of. If so, maybe the education here is not priorities by their government and only the rich people get an education.
The first to fill is the name and the next are birth place, age, and the last is class. I have many classes but the class that I like is swordsman after all. All of my game characters in every game are swordsman so having the class like them make me jump continuously in happiness.
After filling up the paper I gave it again to receptionist girl.
"Wait here for a minute sir, I'll process your adventurer card"
As the receptionist girl said I wait and she got back exactly a minute, she's a fast worker. She gave me a rectangular metal card, it's color white and not heavy, I thought it's a bit heavy but it's not.
"Drop your blood in your adventurer card sir and the registration will be finish"
I cut my thumb using my sword and drop some of my blood. The card shined and it faded after a few second.
"You're now a registered adventurer of Siri City. Congratulation!"
The receptionist congratulate me, that beautiful smile if those bastards seating at the back are not here I might confess to her right now. After that I walk to the bulletin board to get my first quest. I read the request one by one but all of them are very easy to clear. Remembering that I don't have money I pick the quest that have a highest reward and walk back to receptionist to submit it.
The receptionist take it and check the request, suddenly her face froze and got back to normal immediately. This receptionist is good in controlling her expression. Did I do something wrong? She look at me and open her mouth.
"I'm very sorry sir, I forgot to explain to you the rules and regulations of the guild."
"Stop calling me "sir" please, our age is not that far to each other, so you can call me by my name Rod."
"If so I will call you Mr. r..ro..Rod, is that okay?"
Wah. She's blushing and her voice is tottering. She forgot to hide her emotion, you mess up big this time girl. That's what I thought but feeling the heavy aura behind makes me think the opposite. There's still a word "Mr" there but it's better than sir.
"It's okay, so can you explain now everything about the guild?"
"Yes!"
The girl starts to explain about the guild cheerfully.I ignored the curse whispering behind me and listen carefully to the girl's explanation.
To what the girl said, this world is called Althea and the country that I'm in right now is called Gregorian Kingdom. There was 5 cities in this country, the Cress City is the largest city in the kingdom, the Siri City where I'am right now is the second largest city, the other cities are Ranj, Maru, and Carus City.
Also the currency here is very easy to understand. The highest currency is platinum coin = 200 gold coins, the others are gold coin = 100 silver coins, silver coin = 50 big copper coins, and big copper coin = 10 small copper coins.
I also understand now why the receptionist reacts when I gave the request to her. That's because the request is for the Rank S adventurer and above only. The rank of adventurers is like this; G, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, and X. And I'm Rank G, it's obvious I just registered earlier.

Looking again at the request, I thought of making money earlier so when I saw the high reward I took it immediately. But thinking that the Orc King is for Rank S means that the adventurers in this place are weak. Why did I say that they are weak? That's because fighting the Orcs and Orc King are childs play for me. So a year inside the forest is worth it after all.
" And that's all of it, do you understand and remember everything?"
"Yes, thank you very much"
I walk back to the request board and put back the S Rank request. After that I look for the request suited for my rank. I can take a request 1 rank below or above my rank.

These request are easy but the rewards are very low, it's a low rank quest after all.
I take all of it and give it to the receptionist. She check all of it and look at me.
"Can you really complete this many request? Even this monsters are weak and low level they can still inflict severe damage to you or in the worst case you'll die."
The receptionist say it worriedly so I answer with serious expression to remove her anxiousness.
"It's okay don't worry I can do it, trust me."
The receptionist sigh because of my stubbornness and approve all the request.
"Just to remind you, If you fail all of this request you'll be kick out of the guild. But if you only failed 3 out of 5 request, you only need to pay fine in each failed request."
I sense that she's angry but it can't be helped, I need money to buy food and stay in the inn for tonight.
"Yes I clearly remember, thank you very much again."
I exited from the guild to complete my quest. Oh I forgot to get the name of the receptionist. I look back before opening the door. Alright let's see it [Appraisal].

So her name is Alice, she's a mage. Seeing her status I can say that she's strong if you compair her in other adventurers. Why did she become a receptionist even though her ability is more suited to become an adventurer? Maybe she has a reason for that.
I know what you're thinking, why I have an Appraisal Skill? I got that while I'm inside the forest, I guess the name of many kind of plants, animals and monsters and I got the skill after the 100th correct guess.
I only use it when it's needed or if something interest me. I didn't use it when I fighting the monsters inside the forest because fighting the opponent without knowing what its skill and power makes it more exciting. But now that I'm in the city using it more often is a good thing to become safe.

After knowing her name I exited and continued walking to the forest. As what Alice said the Silent Forest located outside the northern part of the city, that's the opposite direction of where I came from, I got out of the city and go straight in the Silent Forest. I use [Silent Step] skill so no one will notice me.
The truth is, I already have the bodies of the monsters in the quest. The reason I went here inside the forest is to capture the lost pet. It's a pet dog of one of the requester. I went to the requester house and told them to give me the falling fur of their dog. And I used the fur to track the dog using [Tracking Skill], That's why I'm here now because the dog's magic essence went inside the forest.
In this world magic essence is like a finger print. There is no one who have the same finger print. The magic essence is the same too, every living things here have a unique magic essence. If I'm familiar in your magic essence and I have talent to sense it, I can tell who you are even I use blind fold or you hide behind the door.
After a few minutes I see the dog hiding under the big rock, it was scared because of the monsters wondering around. I approach the dog and heal it because it has wounds around its body. I wonder where did it got that wounds, maybe the monster attack it. I lift the dog and run outside the forest, with this I completed all the quest.
I walk back to the guild after giving the dog to its owner. The owner is really happy and gave me some fruits, he also sign the request sheet. This is the proof that I completed the lost pet quest.
At the front of the guild, not like before, right now I confidently open the door. They look at me when I enter but instantly lost interest, I walk straight to the counter and what I see is Alice smiling brightly to the handsome adventurer.
What's this! My body frozen and also my heart. So this girl is a "Friendly to all" type girl and she's more friendly in handsome guys. Why I assume that I have a chance? is it because I'm still an easy guy just like in my previous life. I don't want that thing to happen again being laughingstock because of that bitch girls. I need to wake up, from now on all the girls in this world are bitch and would not become their victim anymore!.
I calm myself and walk to the counter to complete the quest and get the rewards.
"I completed the quest, this is the signed request of the owner of the lost pet and this is my guild card, confirm it if you doubt me."
She was surprised when she see me, maybe because it's only less than an hour when I went out. She take the card and check it, after confirming it she put the reward money on the table. She's smiling to me, haha you can't fool me again bitch! this is the new me.
"Congratulation for completing your first quest, your reward is 35 big copper coins by completing 5 consecutive quest. Because you already completed 5 quest you only need 5 more quest to rank up."
I only need 5 more hah, should I complete it now? No, someone might think that I'm suspicious if I rank up in my first day. I clear my mind after deciding what to do and take the rewards.
"Wait! Mr. Rod"
I turn around to leave but Alice stop me. Why are you calling me bitch? That's what I want to say but I calm myself and talk back.
"What is it?"
She's fidgeting, that gestures are really like a bitch.
"I j..ju..just want to i...in..invite yo..you to eat lunch to..to..together!"
Oh you're good at acting, if I am the old me I'm jumping now in happiness but not now. I smiled to her, oh she's smiling too. And I responded mercifully.

I said it while smiling and her face crumpled. I turn around and leave , I look back one last time and saw her still frozen, even the other adventurers who saw the scene are all dumbfounded. It's my win haha (evil laugh) I'll not be fooled again and this is the start of the new me.
I exited the guild and happily stroll in the city. Now that I have money it's alright to enjoy myself a little. I bought and eat some foods on the street and watch some street performances. The sun's already set when I decided to rent a room in an inn.
Because I don't know any inn here, when I saw an inn I just go inside and walk to the counter to rent a room. A beautiful girl welcome me while smiling brightful. She has a blonde hair and modest chest and her skin is white as snow. Calm myself, she's not smiling to you, she's smiling to your money.
"I want to rent a room, how much it cost?"
"A single room cost 3 big copper coins your breakfast and dinner is also included Mr. Adventurer"
The cost of the room here are good for the newbie adventurer like me and the meals are also included, this inn is an "adventurer friendly inn". But the way she calls me is a bit embarrassing so I will stop her.
"You can call me Rod, that's my name"
The inn girl smiled and respond.
"My name is Lori, you can also call me by my name Rod"

I climb up, walk to the end of the corridor and open my room. It's simple but when I sit on the bed its soft and its also clean inside so it's a good room in a low price, not bad Mr. Owner.
I lay down and close my eyes, thinking my plans from now on.
