1 Chapter 1: 435 days later
June 11, 2014
"After a long week, I'm finally going back home" Mar said, while lining up in the ticket booth. Mar Ledesma a twenty-one yrs. old guy, a 3rd yr. architecture student at ISAT-U, he got orphan after his adopted parents passed away due to an accident a a year ago but with the support from his biological family and relatives. He able to continue his studies and will be graduating 2 yrs. later.
A few minutes later, he got one ticket back to Guimaras via pumboat, the travel was ten- fifteen minutes long to reach the Wharf, and he was lucky to ride the last jeepney. He sits behind the driver seat so that he can lean on and take a nap. After forty- plus minutes, he arrives home and was already tired from long travel.
It was around eight o'clock, he then turn on the lights in the living and kitchen to prepare his dinner. After thirty minutes, the rice was cook well and the batchoy was reheated. He turns on the laptop, installs a new game "Plague Inc. Evolve" and eats his dinner while waiting for the game to finish installing.
The game installation was quite long; he was bored while waiting so he watches "High School of the Dead". The series has twelve episodes; it lasted for about four hours and the game was done installing.
Mar decides to play a couple games before sleeping. He finally wins the casual mode after losing a dozen times.
"Victory, 435 days have passed, Zombie virus has infected 80% of the world population"
He fell asleep in the sofa after turning off the laptop and continues his daily routine.
"Ding..!"

"435 days later..."
Mar is still clueless on the upcoming apocalypse; he thought it just was a dream and the system was like a game he used to play. He wakes-up past six in the morning with a headache, he turns off the laptop after seeing the game installation was finish and takes a bath. After finishing his breakfast, he locks the house and was waiting for the jeepney to Jordan Wharf.
A sudden notification from the system startles him and stops his train of thought.
"Ding!"
"Hello Host, Happiness my name is Irene; I'll be your assistant in this zombie outbreak and apocalypse." Irene said.
"What the heck! Why me? I'm just a loser and what's this zombie outbreak? What apocalypse? Mar asks.
"Coz, the host is an avid fan of zombie stuffs, this become part of your special ability like other people whom didn't get infected by the virus, they also get various skill / ability base on their talent or interest in order to fight for survival in the apocalypse. The virus is a combination of several viruses that creates an undead, mutated animals, plants and people w/ special abilities. While the apocalypse is a trial to humanity by The Creator and I hope that host will get stronger and survive." Irene said.
"Wow! How can I use my special ability? Mar ask and still overwhelmed by this sudden event.
"You can say Status Display; and there you'll see Daily Tasks, Zombie shop, Achievements, Slot Machine, Missions, Status, Inventory and Shop. You get 3,000 gold coins and 5 crystals as rewards in your first day." Irene said.
"Thanks Irene, Status Display" Mar said and saw a game-like screen.

"Thanks Irene" Mar replied.
He taps the Slot Machine icon, there he saw three slot machines with free spin and he tries the first one with coins.
"Ding!"
"Congrats Host, you got 600 coins" Irene said.
He consecutively spins the 2 remaining slot machines.
"Ding!"
"Congrats Host, you got 6 crystals and 2 gun turrets." Irene said.
"This was kind a familiar display to a Zombie game I play before and it features were the same. It looks an improve version of it. This time it's for real, I hope family and friends are fine." As he checks the Game Display, he was interrupted by Irene with another notification.
"Host, the zombie virus has infected 80 % of earth's population, and humans have slowly developing their special abilities. Your first mission is to kill 10 zombies, 1zombie is worth 100 gold coins and the reward is 800 gold coins, 1 crystal and 1 upgrade potion." Irene said.
He sends a group text "Hello guys, if you read this and you're not infected by zombie virus. The school will be our meeting place, stay safe and see you there" to everyone in his phonebook. He notice his neighbor Percy bloody appearance walking out with a bolo knife in his right hand and the heads of his mother Lourdes and lover Sherry were dangling in his left hand.
Mar carefully approach him within safe distance, then he put his right hand behind his back and "Equip" with SIG P220. He asks:" Bro, what happened?
Percy eyes were teary, he was on his knees and replies: "I was busy preparing our breakfast in the kitchen, but they suddenly gone crazy and bitten me several times. You know mother has mild stroke, I was surprise to see her sudden action and I tried my best to hold them back but mind went dark when I saw the bolo knife..."
Before Percy finishes his words, he falls down and his body began shaking. After a few seconds, he slowly stood up and runs to Mar's direction.
"Brains..! Brains..!" Percy was screaming while running towards him.
Mar points his gun, he fires three times: "Bang! Bang! Bang! Bro... May you rest in peace with them." He put all their bodies inside the house, then pours the gasoline from Percy's motorcycle and lit up the house.
"Ding!"

"Host, you've achieve your first kill. You can now upgrade your weapon to level two, open the shop icon, tap the SIG P220 and update it twice." Irene said.
"Ugh! Thanks, Irene" Mar started throwing up everything he ate this morning
"You'll get used to it soon .Host" Irene said while Mar wipes his mouth and sweat.
He opens the shop; there are various weapons, character upgrade, consumable items and other stuffs.
He also checks the situation of his aunties and other neighbor; he was too late as he saw them turn into zombies, so he shot them to end their sufferings and won't infect other people.

After upgrading his weapon twice, he checks again his Status and said: "Status Display"
