3 Ch.3

After hours of tireless walking and stopping for directions several times Clay finally found the edge of the swamp.

-- Slimy Slums--

A old wooden sign was nailed into the ground in front of it sat there withered by time.

"information" Clay shouted. A new screen appeared in front of him like the last time showing him the info.

- The origin of Slimy Swamps is unknown to even the most ancient of people who don't know how it's still here. Many speculate that that a creature old as the island itself lives in the center but no-one has ever made it past the tidal guardians.-

"Well this sounds fun." Clay muttered. Walking in he noticed the temperature rose a couple degrees, stepping back it dropped again. 'Huh...' he thought 'neat!' the farther he went the more marshy the ground got till Clay was knee deep in water and the temperature had reached a sweltering +40, the trees grew around him like vines stuck together it was impossible to tell where one tree ended and another began. Canopy so dense over head allowed for very little sunlight to penetrate.

After hours of searching he stopped."Well fuck i can't find a single flower" Clay expressed, shaking his head In frustration he punched the tree beside him.

-You have received: 2 bark 3 wood 1 rare flower-

"I have to punch it!" He shouted "maybe tools will work?" Taking out his hatchet he hit the tree.

-You have received: 5 bark 8 wood 3 rare flowers-

"Damn now i will be done in no time"

Clay started cutting down trees till he had 30 flowers when he finished Clay was met with this screen.

-You are now lvl.2-

You have ten stat points to distribute.

"I levelled up?" Clay asked. Assigning the stat points, Clay spent a few minutes considering what to put them in. After carefully reviewing the available options, Clay figured his best choice would be the things that could raise his chance of survival.

"There."

Noticing his health wasn't immediately full he realized it must change his body so he has to heal to get used to it. A sudden silence rang over the swamp, all the birds and insects having gone silent. Clay looked up startled. 'Huh' he thought 'what is this' Clay started walking towards the end of the swamp, or so he thought as he got closer it seemed to get father away. Clay started running full sprint till his stamina bottomed out.

"What the hell!" He shouted "I have been running for a few minutes now and nothing, somethings not right here..."

He ran farther till he got to the next tree. The distance between him and the exit were the same.

"It must be magic of some kind." He concluded "but how do I leave though?"

A tree in the distance became uprooted as a voice boomed out.

"What businesssssss does a champion have in our swamp" a reptilian voice rang out, "last one that came tried to kill ussssss to get to the ancient onnnnne"

Clay whipped his head around side unable to locate the whispers of the being. Another tree fell this time much closer.

"You are different, you are newerrrrrrr. Maybe we can strike a dealllllll?" It voiced before chuckling "we have been very lonely since none come to here anymore."

Clay was panicking, not thinking straight he shouted "What deal is it!"

"Wowwwwww sssssssstraight to the point, I like this one" the voice said "well you are verrrrry weak in this world, a nobody but I wish to change that. You will complete a quesssssst for me."

"Sssssisssster what deal did you make with that humannnnn" a panicked voice asked.

"I only sssssseek to free the ancient one" it replied.

"That's sssssssuicide for him, a greater sssssssea ssssssssserpent can't be killed by that tiny weak human" it countered "And you said you would allow him to attempt the tidal guardian trial!"

It swam away into the deep of the swamp leaving It to wallow in its decision. It thought it was right but was starting to reconsider.

'Oh well I have chosen' It thought. Swimming into the deep It went to sleep.

Clay woke up to wooden ceilings and torch light. "How long have I been out?" he asked.

Sara answered "a couple hours, a group of hunters stumbled across you unconscious near the edge of the swamp." She finished before looking deep in thought. "Why were you so close to the swamp?" She asked

"I was getting rare flowers for Frank." Clay coughed out.

"Am I not supposed to be there?" He inquired.

"No!" Sara shouted "no one in the right mind is dumb enough to go in there, frank must been trying to kill you! Almost everyone who goes there dies although I am curious how you are still alive!"

"I went in and went out but feel unconscious as I was returning." he answered with a shrug. Choosing purposefully to leave out his encounter till he could speak with elder Luke.

"I am going to have words with Frank!" Sara grumbled "he cant send a lvl 1 nobody into one of the most dangerous places in the whole island even if that person has taken over the body of the boy he helped raise."

"It's fine and I'm fine, now can we drop it?" Clay asked. Getting out of bed he stretched. a few minutes of silence pasted.

"So..."

"What?" Sara questioned.

"Are we going to go do something or am I to wait here?" Clay asked.

"You are to wait to speak with elder Luke on this matter." She responded.

"Ok" Clay said. Laying back down he decided to get some rest having not slept in 36 hours.

"Sara, Sara come quick!" A voice yelled.

"What is it?" She yelled back.

"A alpha raptor has been spotted getting close to the village!" The voice yelled in panicked.

"An alpha..." She mumbled "shit."
