2 Ch.2

Finally being aroused awake Clay found himself tied up in the centre of what seemed to be a small village.

—Welcome to Rosecliff, for more information about the history and culture just say "info"—

"Info?" Clay asked. A new screen appears in-front of him exactly like the last one.

—Rosecliff is a remote village located in the northeast part of the island and is home to a small tribe of 518, originally founded after the great era of the end, its a smallish fishing village that mainly focused on taming raptors, Parasaurs, and Catedrix Qoul. The nearest tribe to them is the mudd tribe to the north or the black sun to the east—

"What..." Clay asked, a look of confusion crept on his face. As the rope around Clays hands came loose a shard kick to his stomach reminded him that this was all too real.

"Let's move it!" Sara shouted at Clay "the elder will see you now."

Walking through the small village attracted a lot of attention from the locals, who most of the time had never seen an outsider unless they came to trade.

After walking to a large cottage style house they stopped.

"You may go in now" Sara said motioning to the door.

"Thanks, guess I will see you around?" Clay replied.

"Depends if the elder thinks you are lying or not" Sara said winking in his direction.

"I hope not..." He mumbled under his breath, hands reaching towards where the raptors claw penetrated his chest. He did not want to feel that again.

Clay stepped inside the cozy cottage to be greeted by a man at a desk.

"Welcome young one, it's been many moons since a champion came. This is not good child, champion's only came every time something bad is about to happen, so you could be a blessing or a curse." The elder, an older looking man of about 60 spoke, "If you have question you may ask them and I will answer to the best of my ability."

"how did you know I was a champion..." Clay asked quietly.

"Well I know for a fact the person you inhabit died 3 days ago. Plus our village archives have information from the last time our own islands champions returned." The elder calmly said.

"Huh, who was this body?." Clay replied "and who are you?"

"I am elder Luke and I have led this tribe for the past 163 years." Elder Luke stated.

"163!"Clay shouted "you barely look 60?"

"Every level you gain adds 5 years on your life and slows your aging" elder Luke replies

Clay looks up at the elder and the floating text above his head.

Luke lvl.42 458/458

"And the boy who's body you now control was an orphan the entire village worked together to raise so I would be careful with who you talk to."

"I will keep that in mind. But can you explain to me how levels work, I don't really know what they are?" Clay asked.

"Well levels are achievable by doing tasks for Xp such as basic chores and labour but can also be obtained through hunting or finding rare knowledge tombs." Elder Luke states "the reason our village can thrive in such a dangerous area is because we built our village around one such tomb, that's why our village is mostly above ten."

"Another thing with levels is you receive stat points for each level ranging between 1-5 those you can apply to what you want to increase your stats." continued the elder "elemental affinity is another thing, at level ten everyone has a chance to get affinity but the odds are 1 out of every 1,000 people have a chance to get it and rare dual borns that possess 2 elements are 1 in a 1,000,000. Some groups treat those with an affinity as God's and worship them, others think they are tainted beings and hunt them."

"What does Rosecliff believe?" Clay asked.

"We believe those who have an affinity are special and will help the village." Elder Luke replied "the elements people specialize in are earth, wind, fire, water, lightning, nature, light, and darkness. Then there are the legendary elements, one out of every hundred billion people controls one of these."

"Those elements are....."

"Time, gravity and...death" he finished, "those who are skilled at wielding one of these elements can level armies and destroy entire nations."

"What!" Clay shouted, "That amount of power is incredible, No one should wield that."

"Sometimes that power is necessary to maintain peace and preserve the thin strains of balance left in this world. Also when it comes to spells they are spilt into 4 categories, basic spells are just normal spells, Forms are multi level spells where each form is stronger then the last, enhancements which increase personal or ally abilities and stats, and last is summoning spells which pull a denizen of a different plane of existence into reality temporarily. These have different power levels lowest being beast followed by humanoid and the strongest form of summon is a spirit."Elder Luke replied grimly.

"You may leave now Clay, I will see you in the future." Elder Luke said.

"Ok, I will be going." Clay replied. Walking out the door he heard shouting

"Clay, I have an assignment for you." Elder Luke shouted.

A new screen appeared before clay.

'What?' Clay thought 'that is going to be hard'. Walking around the village Clay looked around, it was a rustic village that wouldn't look out of place in 1800's Europe. Many of the house had thatch roofs and a few with wood roofs mixed in. People were walking about, children ran across the street playing tag and other various games. Peace was wonderful, clay ran over to a shop across the street.

'Franks finest everything'

'Huh, let's see what I can get' Clay thought.

Walking in Clay looked around, noting everything here was of only primitive quality.

"Simone? Your alive?" A large burly man walked out of a door clay previously missed.

Frank lvl.15 125/125

As the mans eyes bore into Clays soul a sad look spread across his face. "Your not him. Who are you?"

"I'm sorry, i really am but I have no clue how I came to exist in this body. I have come looking for basic equipment because as you can see I'm not wearing much" Clay responded motioning up and down to his surprisingly fit torso and legs.

"Do you have money?" Frank asked sceptically.

"No, I honestly don't know much about this place and don't know what the form of currency is...." Clay replied shamefully.

"Well it goes to copper, silver, and gold on a 100 to 1 scale but lots of people especially in remote villages nowhere near the capital trade in resources, creatures, and information, the more rare the item the more it's worth." Frank said in very business-like fashion.

"I will give you a basic kit to start off with but you need to repay me by going to the swamp and finding rare flowers, deal?" Frank asked

"Deal!" Clay responded happy to get out of his torn clothing.
