18 Lunch

Clay sat down at the table with Eric and took a poke at the gelatinous cube on his plate.

"Oh they're not that bad. Suck it up, literally I guess. It tastes like fish!" Eric said cheerfully swallowing 3 at once.

"Dude. Gross." Clay replied. "Want mine?"

"Hell ya!!" Eric said before grabbing it off Clays plate and tossing it in his mouth.

Clay just got up and starting walking out of the large food hall.

"Where ya going?"

"For a walk."

"Alright but get to class on time, you seem to have awful time management. Oh and tell me if you find the others, they kinda walked off and didn't say anything." He shouted not even looking by up from his plate.

Clay walked away with a smirk, knowing the kid who was now his food loving friend wouldn't be getting to class on his own either.

'I need to try something." He thought wandering into a deserted courtyard Clay opened a portal to the abysmal realm.

A shadow was sent flying out smashing through the nearby pillars, Clays wraith stood up and brushed itself off. 'Leave it open for a second.' The shadow thought to Clay as it readied its sword. Clays mana took a sudden dip as something dragged itself through. A sense of absolute terror over took Clay watched as the 13 foot tall brute pulled itself through the portal. It's body was a dark green with tumours growing out of the vaguely human frame. It's head a horror show as a massive gash removed a quarter of its face and the remaining part looked like a melted candle, a bright red eye sat there with a primal look of hunger visible. In its two dangling arms it held wooden clubs each the size of Clay. Bringing up their stats Clay was shocked at what he saw.

—Shadow troll (Troll-abysmal born) lvl.156 20,389/55,660HP 170/200MP—

—Regibus Umbra (Wraith-mana spawn) lvl.134 12,583/13,500HP 590/1,000MP—

'W-wow...." was all Clay could sputter out as the wraith pointed it sword forwards causing all the shadows in the area to condense on the point. A massive ball of dark mana shot forwards into the trolls mid-section causing a violent explosion of viscous liquids.

Clay just watched in horror as the giants stomach started healing at a viable rate, muscle and skin stitching together to leave no sign of any injury.

"What the hell is that!" A voice shrieked out causing the occupants of the courtyard to all turn. The troll took advantage of this to smash the wraith through the wall of the school, screams of pain could be heard from the other side, with students in the crowded hallway having nowhere to run as the rubble fell on them.

Clay realized more people would be hurt if he didn't do something summoned a javelin of lighting to his hand. The troll looked at him getting ready to charge as Clay got ready to throw, one of its clubs came flying causing him to leap sideways or be hit. A scream of pain behind made Clay realize the club wasn't truly aimed at him but the bystander behind him.

"No! Focus on me you hideous abomination!" Clay screamed waving his arms at the troll in an attempt to get its attention. The lumbering giant started to lean forwards to begin its charge when the downed wraiths great sword entered the back of its skull, killing it instantly.

"That's what you been fighting! What the fuck!" Clay screamed at the summon.

The shadow just looked at him confused. "You summoned me here while I was in combat and as a Sword of Arengoth it is against my honour to back down from a fight unless I am defeated. None of this is my responsibility."

"And now you can speak plus a name!" Clay muttered rubbing his forehead in confusion. "Now hang on, how did you get so powerful so damn quick?"

"Time works differently in there. What is ten minutes up here is ten years in there. I have been fighting for the past 40 some years even ranking to become one of the swords."

"I have a lot of questions about that but nows not the time, make yourself useful and help the others." Clay said motioning around. "Im going."

Walking out many gazed at him in horror or amazement, he was unable to determine if it was for what he did or what his shadow did.

He turned around quickly realizing the body was still there.

"Might have items but in just gonna get rid of it." Clay mumbled opening the portal and motioning to the wraith to put it in. If the wraith could role its eyes Clay could almost guarantee it had.

Walking out again he spent the next ten minutes wandering the halls until finally found the doors to the gymnasium.

"Ah Clay your early. We were just warming up while we wait." John said motioning him over.

"You guys tell Eric?" Clay asked.

"We tried but the guy was too busy with his food to care so we just went."

"Oh ha. So how long till class?"

"Like half an hour."

Clay walked over to see Jasmine and Aurora standing there while Ella fought the half elf in a ring.

The two were trading blows at rapid pace, Ella spinning in an intricate twirl keeping Ava dual swords busy by making them either parry or block. A quick over head chop was deflected off one of the swords allowing Ava a chance to bring her blade into her opponent's mid section only for it to be stopped by the shaft of the glaive. Ellas foot swept under the elf's causing Ava to trip and land flat on her back. Looking up Ava saw Ella standing over her holding the point to her neck.

"Great duel but you got to watch for the feet and hands. Not everyone will just use their blade." Ella said as she offered her hand to her downed opponent.

"I know but I still can't believe you caught me off guard twice!" Ava replied. They both looked over to see Clay now standing there.

"Oh hey Clay!" They both said with a wave.

Clay just waved back.

"Clay you up for a fight?" John asked drawing the pommel.

"I uhh don't know how to and don't really have a weapon of chose..." He said awkwardly standing there.

"You uh what, but your... wha-" John sputtered.

"I'm more of a mage."

"Ohhhh that makes sense, well don't worry I can teach you whatever you choose since my parents made me get a tutor for everything." John said rolling his eyes.

Clay smiled back, "thanks."
