14 First day

After the weekend of partying the group went their separate ways early Monday morning ,each getting the supplies they needed for school that started later that day. Clay walked into a grand market, stalls selling their wares, many calling out. Clay walked towards the nearest one selling various materials.

"What do you want?" The man at the stall asked.

"I got something to sell if you buy it." Clay replied. Putting a few of the chitin on the table the trader looked back up to him and said.

"1 silver a piece. No more, no less."

"Deal." Clay said with a grin. "Here." He placed all the chitin on the table, 493 of it in total. "Oh and how much for these?" He pulled out the pincers and placed them on the table.

"Uhh. 10 silver for the small ones but 1 gold for the large one. No less no more." He stated a little stunned at the amount of chitin there. "But I will buy everything you have here. This can all be sold to blacksmiths so they can make armour and weapons, two things that are always in demand."

After exchanging the goods for money Clay decided to get some newer clothing. The shops along the street had everything you could think of, Clay stopped at multiple stalls that sold things similar to what was popular on earth. Clay ended his shopping spree wearing a light blue polo shirt and red sweats, the weather was a tad chilly, the season being close to autumn seemed appropriate. Multiple school supplies sat in his inventory along with all his money. Clay began the trek to the school, navigating the winding streets of the city.

"Look a little lost there Clay." Called a voice from behind him, turning around he saw Aurora standing there hands on her hips. "Your going to be late at this rate."

"Aurora?" Clay asked. "How did you find me?"

"Saw you in the market and followed you when you went the wrong way." She replied smiling. "Now I can help you find your way there but you need to answer some of my questions."

"Like..."

"What you did during the test. You somehow got the highest score on both tests and you say you came from a village that was destroyed fifteen years ago. You are sixteen aren't you?"

"Uhh..." Clay stuttered."I uh"

"Well?"

"Ok fine. I technically was born there but my parents set out as soon as I was born to the capital so they could let me live a more civil life." Clay lied thinking at million miles an hour. "And as for my magic my parents were both very gifted so I got lucky I guess." He smiled hoping that magic was hereditary.

"Well you are certainly gifted... wow so you must have no idea what happened to rosecliff." She mumbled to herself.

"Ok good enough. Let's go!" Taking Clays arm she lead him through the streets that seemed to go on forever, winding corridors of stone and wood, stalls of all kinds were spread around. Sounds of hammers ringing against anvils mixed with the cry's of children, many people yelled out some selling there goods, others negotiating. The sounds created a symphony that rang out, music of the mundane highlighted every step of their journey. Eventually the large gates appeared in front of them.

"Well I'm going." Aurora said with a wave. Walking off Clay yelled from behind her.

"Where can I find my classes?" He asked.

"Oh at the office." She replied pointing at the large office building. "See at you at the welcoming ceremony." Aurora walked off with a smile and a wave.

Clay walked into the large build coming to a large curved desk. Ringing the bell the man working the front desk looked at Clay and asked him. "What can I help you with."

"I need to know my classes? I was told I could come here to be helped." Clay said.

"If your a first year you just have the basic core classes. Here a map with everything labeled so you can find your way around." The man handed him a map, many classrooms were located around the area with the dorms seemingly across the campus from him.

"Thanks." Clay called out as he exited the doors. Taking a longer look at the map he found it listed all the first week events including the times the event began.

Walking around he sat at the cafe where him and the other ate. Ordering a drink he sat there waiting, nothing better to do.

Paying his tab he walked out of the cafe and started to head over to the area where the opening ceremony took place.

"Hey Clay over here!" He saw Eric waving him over to one of the groups of chairs they had taken.

"Where's John?" Clay asked them not seeing the blonde haired giant anywhere.

Ella answered him this time. "He's with his parents, since he's nobility he has to look important and all that lame crap. I can't believe that other then us there about thirty other normal people in the first years the other six hundred are all noble." Pointing to the boy Clay punted across the room during the test said. "Some more stuck up then other."

Clay looked to where see was pointing and saw Garth shooting him a malice filled glare.

"Ignore him, dudes been moping since you crushed him." Said Eric. "It's starting."

"Welcome to brightburn academy!" A lady in here mid thirties called from the stage. "I am head master Lina and I'm proud to welcome the next generation of Apollo's shield to it."

'Apollo's shield huh, interesting name..' Clay thought to himself.

"For the first week after regular classes we will be hosting a event, today's is watching the fourth years fight! Maybe even one of you could try?" She cheered out.

Taking a look at her level Clay had to admit he was impressed.

-Lina monstone (human-light mage) lvl.362 3,683/3,683HP 15,482/15,482MP

Twice his level she was an impressive mage, being one of the highest he had seen in the city. Clay health was double but his mana was quite far behind, he decided that the next few levels would be dedicated to just mana.

The crowd wandered over to the arenas were the tests were held. Inside the stands were lined with people, the fourth year students stood at attention all wearing matching uniforms.

"For this demonstration students Alexander and Madison will take the stage. Both are spell-swords, using magic to make them incredibly agile or strong." As the headmaster spoke two of the students in line stepped forward. both in the their mid 70's for levels their Stats were a decent amount lower then Clays but being twice their level he wasn't surprised.

Once they reached the centre platform a barrier sprung up around them. The boy drew a long sword that's blade emitted a soft blue glow, the girl brought out a series of daggers, their hilts made of a shiny silver metal that reflected the sunlight.

They both got in crouched positions levelling their blades at each other. "Begin!" The head master shouted.

Madison sprung forwards like a bullets a trial of lightning followed in her wake. "A movement based ability! Amazing!" Quietly exclaimed Aurora.

Alexander stood in a defensive position a layer of ice coating him and his blade, as a duel-elementalist he was quite versatile in combat. A boom rang out as the fire on Madison's blades struck the ice, stumbling back she fell into a flip just in time to parry a blow from Alexander's long sword. A quick slash from the swordsman sent one of Madison's daggers flying, a blink of light appeared as she seemingly teleported to where the blade fell. Returning to where he was standing Madison went in with a series of dagger jabs and slash's slowly increasing her speed as she went. As the seconds passed on, Alex slowly started missing more blocks, cuts appearing all along his body. A swing from his long sword went wildly towards the quick rogue, not paying attention the flat of the blade smashed across Madison's leg, an audible crack could be heard as the bone was shattered. Alexander walked over to her hunched figure and held out a hand. "Great duel." He said, looking up at him with a pained smile she replied. "Ya it was."

The duo walked off the stage to the sounds of a cheering crowd, even Clay couldn't help but cheer as he almost thought the rouge had it. "Next up will be two mages, David and Acivcii please take the stage." The headmaster called out.

Clay looked at there stats, David was lower level then Acivcii by ten or so levels but possessed elements two unlike his opponent. Being a fire and earth mage Clay assumed his abilities were about his defensive prowess combined with destructive offensive magic. Where as Acivcii's wind seemed to be more about Mobility.

They both stood on stage, staring each other down. "Begin!"

A wall of earth erupted from the stage, as blades of wind were shot forwards. A crash could be heard as the wall erupted in a cloud of dust, all vision obstructed. Jets of flame shot out from David's hands into the storm, a strong wind blew over the stage clearing the cloud of dust.

"Wind creation: North wind hawk." With a shout the wind mage created a hawk the size of a man. A screech rang out as it attempted to attack the duel mage.

David attempted to leap backwards coating himself in a layer of magma and rock. Throwing flaming rocks at the hawk in a attempt to stop it he failed to notice the thin wire of wind mana behind him. Tripping on it he took a tumble to the floor of the arena, a rapid burst of wind mana allowed Acivcii to get on top of the downed mage and jab sharpened wind tendrils through his arms and legs.

"We have a winner! Medics go help David." The headmaster announced.

The afternoon drifted on fights coming and going winners and losers announced. Eventually as it was turning dark Clay heard what he was waiting for.

"Now one of you first years will get the chance to duel the captain of fighting team. Any volunteers?" The headmaster asked.

No one raised the hands since it was the first day and no one wanted to make a fool of themselves. A few seconds of silence passed as no one raised their hand. Clay looked around before putting his up. Everyone looked at him in surprise.

"Really Clay?" Asked Eric. Clay looked over with a shrug. "Why not."

Teleporting down he emerged by the headmasters side. "I'll give it a shot."

"Well then let's get a round of applause for..."

"Clay."

"Clay!" Yelled the headmaster. "Now let's see how you do."
