15 Duel

Clay stood in the ring across from the captain of the fighting team. "And here he is the captain, Vance Blight!" A cheer rose from the crowd as the second and third students all got hyped up. Clay took a look at the man standing before him.

Vance Blight (Human-Water mage) lvl.96 3,450/3,450HP 2,890/2,890MP

"So Clay... Need me to take it easy." He mocked.

'Oh great he's a dick...' Clay thought. "Nah try your best." He he replied with a smug grin, 'two can play that game.'

Clay let go of the magic that suppressed his mana, his eyes changed colours going from a silver to a mixture of blue, green, white, and black.

"3...2...1... Go!" The Headmaster exclaimed.

Lance stared at Clay for a few seconds neither making a move, everyone was silent wanting to see how this played out. A few more seconds went on before someone finally took a chance with lance launching a series of water streams towards Clay while running straight towards him, having pulled out a short sword made of a black metal. Clay threw up a barrier of shadows as the water streams impacted it causing the wall to shatter like glass, Clay entered the shadow realm, emerging right behind the charging swordsman he shot a ball of lightning forwards before disappearing again. From the shadow realm Clay watched as the sword cut straight through the ball causing it to dissipate. 'Anti-Mage crystal? No something similar though." He thought. 'Let's prod him once more."

Hopping out Clay used both blind and flash on Lance at once creating a symphony of mana, he heard a shout cry out as the Captain was dumped from pure darkness to a flash bang from point blank. Throwing a net towards the stunned Lance he got tripped up in the shocking fabrics, Clay decided to raise a bunch of roots behind him causing the captain to fall on his ass. A laugh rose from the crowd as they watched a first year embarrass their captain, not ending the duel but just humiliating him.

"Oh just end it already, this is hard to watch." A random spectator shouted. Clay decided to humour them by opening a portal to the abysmal realm and letting the giant wraith stomp into the arena before shutting it behind the monster before anything else could escape. A gasp escaped the crowd as many who had not been there to see the acceptance test looked on in shock.

Clay looked over with a shrug. "End it."

The shadow giant charged the captain who was finally regaining his vision. "Sea Serpents roar!" A massive creation of water emerged spraying a jet of pressurized water into the wraith, tearing it into pieces, Clay threw up a wall of lighting and shadows before teleporting away. He emerged to see the wall disappear under a torrent of water, the serpent snapped its head over to Clay stood unable to move the beam shot went through his arm severing it from his shoulder. Clay let out a cry of pain, teleporting into the shadows once more.

A patch of shadows emerged over the wound to prevent bleeding. Clay stumbled out again summoning a wave of shadows, it collided with the water in a brilliant display of mana ending with eventually the shadows overwhelming the dragon.

Both mages readied their next spells, Clay generating balls of mana ready to implode at a moment's notice while lance used water to fashion liquid spears levelling the points at Clay chest.

"Hehe that's enough." Nervously chuckled the headmaster. "You ok Clay?" She asked pointing at the patch.

"Yup, it just stings." He replied with a pained smile, dropping the balls of mana they went off with a loud bang.

"Sorry, didn't know they could do that!" Clay shouted sheepishly. A man ran up and touched his arm.

Clay watched in shock as a baby size arm grew at a visible rate until it reached full size.

"Thanks." Clay said, the man just nodded back.

Lance walked over from the other side of the arena and stopped in front of Clay. "Good fight." He said holding out his hand.

Shaking it Clay responded, "ya but I got something to show." Dropping the illusion on his level Clay let Lance see. The captains jaw dropped slightly staring straight at the number above him.

"Your 183, lvl.183?!?" He asked stunned. Clay replied with a shrug.

"Seemed more convenient to hide it but well..". Motioning around he noticed the silence of the crowd.

A voice cracked the veil, Eric being the first to speak up. "Dude. What the fuck?!? I mean I knew you were strong but damn your higher level then all of us combined."

Clay walked back into the stands to the astonished stares of everyone there. Sitting back down he waved off the questioning stares of his companions. "Later."

"And with the end of that fantastic duel your first day is over, please find your assigned dorm room and good luck to you all." The headmaster said.

Clay looked at his map and found his room. C3 was circled with a bright blue pen highlighting one of the buildings a short walk away.

"Hey Clay what room you got?" Asked Eric.

"Oh C3." Clay replied. Handing Eric the map the black haired boy took a look.

"I didn't get one of these." He grumbled. "I'm in C4 right beside you. What about you guy's?" He asked the others sitting there.

"Umm C7 I think." Replied Jasmine.

"Hey Clay I'm with you in C3" said Ella, she looked around searching for someone. "Where's John?"

"Oh god knows. What about you Aurora?" Eric asked.

"Uh-h I-I am in C6 I t-think." She mumbled looking down at the ground.

"What about you Coop." Eric said. The other raven haired boy just shrugged before replying.

"Don't call me coop, and C4 with you."

"Grumpy bastard."

The groups conversation was interrupted by John walking up with an older looking couple.

"Hey guys, my parents wished to meet you plus I wanted to see what rooms you all got. So mother, father these are the ones I have decided to associate with."

"Commoners? With all the nobles here you chose them. Ugh this ones barely acceptable." The woman said in disgust pointing at Clay.

"Mother I told you not to judge. You may be current head of house but soon I will be and my views towards the commoners of the kingdom is one of more respect. Please leave your comments for behind closed doors." John snapped back.

"Jonathan Asen smarten up and show some respect. As nobles of Apollo's shield we must uphold the highest standards of society and show we are better then the commoner scum." The older man said in a matter of fact tone.

"Whatever Dad I'm going." John replied.

The group walked away to their rooms each being a modern style apartment with bedrooms for 5 people. Clay and Ella decided to take rooms near the door and found themselves each found in a small room with a bed and a dresser tucked in the corner.

"See you tomorrow Clay." Ella shouted across the apartment.

"Yah, night." He shouted back.
