"Apollo's shield has one of the most interesting stories of the war as it's where the hero Blink emerged. The year was 738 and the outer walls were low on troops, millions were left but billions were sieging. As an army of undead they had no need for food and water, the weather didn't affect them in the slightest. Clippers scuttled up and down the walls while titans and spawnlings besieged the gate. The seemingly only hope was the fact that the remaining soldiers were starting to reach into level 1000 with abilities to match as storms of acid and meteors rained down upon the hordes, arches of lightning and shadows danced across the walls and ground, ice and earth repaired the wall as it was broken becoming a mosaic of colours. Powerful healing spells restored limbs as fast as they were lost but it was never enough, not enough healing to the troops near the south or lack of spells covering the eastern flank allowing Clippers to get up. The walls were almost lost until the what is now celebrated as the reckoning day happened, Blink emerged. He appeared in front of the gates and snapped his fingers." He finished pulling up another image of a man standing upon a wall.

"No one knows his true name, Blink was just a nickname he gained through the fact that he in a blink of an eye destroyed every creature nears the walls and pushed them back to the borders of the kingdom. The three legendary elements were his to control causing corpses to turn on their allies or just become dust with time killing them instantly, massive gravity wells that sucked in everything only to implode sending debris for miles. The armies of undead slowly disappeared mile at a time until they were pushed back to the voids, sealing all of them but one. The last of the human armies from each city came forth with their remaining troops and stormed the void. 30 million marched in with Blink and only 5 left. Those who were left never spoke of what happened on the other side and caused the deaths of the others." He said bringing up another image. Clay was in a mad scramble to write down everything that was happening barely keeping up.

"The 5 ruled each city and created their own empires reclaiming all the land that was lost. 100 years ago they disappeared and no one knows what happened so their children took over and it started the tradition of rule being passed down through the eldest child."

The professor looked up at the clock and back towards his class. He proceeded to drone on about the social and political hierarchy in Apollo's shield and how it has changed over time for the next hour until he stopped and looked at the class.

"That seems to be all the time we have. We shall continue this tomorrow along with a group project on a type of reaper variant. Class dismissed."

Clay and the others got up to leave before the professor stopped him.

"You remind me of him you know, full of secrets." He said with a smile. Walking out the room Clay saw the others looking around the long corridor.

"What class do we have next?" Asked Eric. John pointed down the hall to another wooden door.

"Magic 101."

"Oh? Sounds interesting."

———————————————————————

"Alright shut the hell up." A stern lady at the front shouted out. Everyone in the room immediately went silent.

"Ok so today were reviewing the basics. Let's start with stats, health is a basic measurement of how much punishment your body can take before it stops, let's take mine for example. I have 300 health which means my body can take what ever the hell this island determines is that much damage. it also increases the strength of your skin, organs, and bones but there is a few constants such as a blow to the heart or brain are fatal. High level people are incredibly hard to kill due to their ribs and skulls being extremely difficult to break." She said.

"Your stamina determines how long you can do physical things for and how fast your health regenerates. Mana we shall discuss last as its one of the more complex topics. With oxygen, that basically determines how long you can hold your breath, strange I know. Food and water basically tell you how thirsty and hungry you are, weight is a unique one as its the measurement of your strength and how much you can carry or lift but be warned going over your limit can cause serious injuries. Movement speed is self explanatory being literally how fast you can, well move. It's been studied but no one has any real clue what crafting skill does, children at a young age are told not to waste points on it. Speaking of points, how many does everyone get?" She asked.

"2."

"4."

Clay looked around before answering quietly. "10."

A look of surprise crossed more then a few peoples faces as the highest they heard was 6.

"Well that quite remarkable." She said. "Anyways on to immunity, it's the measurement of your resistance to diseases and poisons. Now mana, it makes up everything from the grass to the air and even us. Humans have been found to be made up of air, fire, earth, and a bit of dark and light with time and death mixed in. It's quite interesting the paper published on it, but I'm getting off topic. Our mana stat is what shows how much mana our bodies can contain and bend to our will, spells are a combination of mana in a certain pattern to shape the environment to your will. Take your classmate Clay as an example, Clay would you care to summon your shadow giant?" She said motioning to the front.

Clay got up awkwardly as he walked up feeling like a prisoner on death row.

"Uhh sure." Opening the portal Clay let the giant into the room.

"Now look at this it's a being of pure dark mana with... light mixed in? Umm is this a dark spell?" She asked.

"Uh ya but I do posses light too, it allows me access to some unique abilities."

"Oh my. Well anyways let's take a closer examination of the creature as it's a series of dark mana interwoven with a light speckling of well.. Light. It'a a very versatile spell as it also creates a version of intelligence. The creature does follow basic commands?"

"Uhh ya."

"Many have theorized that mana itself is sentient which is why spells work and some are able to gain intelligence. Since spells only last a few seconds to a few minutes very few have seen the result of a spell remaining in this world for a extended period of time, absorbing the ambient mana that exists all around us." She finished. The class ticked on as she kept talking about different theories of mana, Clay left his giant to stand in the corner for the remainder of class.

"And that's all for today! I hope to see you all tomorrow where we shall discuss how our emotions effect our mana. Hey Clay your shadow looks different?" She said clapping her hands before pointing at the corner.

Clay took a long look at it noticing it's armour was definitely more prominent with its sword looking both sharper and darker.

"It has..."' Clay tapped it armour and heard a metallic ring in return. 'That's new..'

'Yes it is.' Rang a voice in his head in return.

"Wha!" Clay exclaimed in shock.

'Your teacher is correct, I have become intelligent. Enough so I can telepathically communicate with you.'

'Cool...' Clay thought. 'You can hear me right?'

'Yes thats correct.'

'Wow.'

'Do you need me to head back to the abyssal realm? If you would open the portal I can gain strength through fighting creatures in the darkness. It will be a bit of drain on your mana but I hope you see the benefits.'

'Uhh sure...'

Opening the portal Clay let the shadow construct through.

"Did your summon just gain intelligence?!?" John asked in surprise.

"I think so..."

'Why this time? Why was it able to do that?' Clay wondered. Thinking back to the total of two times he summoned it Clay realized he never let it remain for long, dismissing it the first time and it being destroyed the second time.

'Well I guess that makes sense...'

"What class of we have now?" Clay asked.

"Dude... did you even look? We have weapons training!" Shouted Eric excitedly. "I mean after lunch of course but still."

"What weapon does everyone use anyways?" Asked John.

"Don't know yet." Replied Clay.

"A glaive." Said Ella. She drew a long pole with blades on both ends and twirled it around at a dizzying speed.

"Claymore." Came from Eric.

"Katana." Aurora said.

"Dual short swords." Ava replied as she pulled out a blade made from a crimson metal.

"Uhh I uhh use a bow." Jasmine nervously replied.

Coop didn't say anything instead just drawing two daggers before storing them again.

"What about you John?" Asked Eric.

"Oh I use this." John pulled out a handle. It's pommel was engraved with a symbol of gold upon its black crystal exterior.

"That's it..." Eric asked sceptically.

"One sec." Said John. His eyes changed to a blue as a blade emerged of azure fire.

A shout of shock emerged as they saw the blade change from a longsword to a saber then elongating into a whip.

"It's a quite versatile weapon and it's what my title means." John said putting the handle away. "Come on let's get lunch."
