2 Chapter 1: The Chosens

Everyone took a sit in the huge courtroom:It had beautiful green wallpaper,big pearly like windows all around the building,black nylon wooden seats; which held up to one thousand and six hundred persons.The others had to watch the announcement on the big screens in the West,south and east town square.My family was lucky we caught a sit in the eighteenth row.

My only family consist of four persons: my mom,dad,little sister lily and me,Lydia. I was sixteen while Lily was twelve,her birthday in a two months.

You might be wondering why we are here watching announcements? The answer is because today they will be announcing the twenty-five chosens! Or so they say. It becomes exciting everytime because it only happens once every six years and you don't know when you will be chosen.

"Good afternoon underground citizen. I know you all are excited about the chosens but whether chosen are not you are all special !" Mrs Willow greeted us with a slight smile. Her dirty blonde hair combed into a neat small bun,her knee lenght red bodycon dress stunning. "Has you all know this opportunity comes rarely and only the lucky ones will be chosen," She took a breath then continued ," If you get selected you have a big chance you see the upper world,to see the beautiful sunflower again. Now I will get to the point- And so this year chosens are:"She trailed off.

I quickly grabbed Lily's hand and mom's. I smiled at her and whispered," If you get chosen; Please remember me." I wanted my little sister to have a chance;I want her to see the sunlight. She nod with a faint smile."I will"

Our parents both gave us a genuine smile then we turned our attention back to Mrs Willow. "The Johnson's Triple: Jamie,Jeremy and Julie-ann, Violet Flame,Micka Parkerson,Kaleb Sparkling,Dontae Gayle, Lui-an Cheng,Marcus Dove,Lily-ann Sliver,Lima Sui, Yuo Choung," She paused to get another list. I could see few families rejoicing including mine when we heard the names of their family, friends and children. I was so happy for my little sister;I hugged her.

We all stopped when she started calling out the next list."Jimmy Carter, Logan Spike,Sunhi Goyi, Annabelle Rose, Robert Downey,Mark Stein,Dollia Brooks,Fredicka Styler,Elsa Brookyln,Zoey Scott,Zedd Gayle, Ski Blue and Lydia Sliver; These are the chosen,please meet me at the great hall at 5pm sharp with all your things you will need which isn't alot."

My face brighten up like a flower blossom on a Monday morning. My sister and I were both chosen. Everyone cheered as Mr Willow exited the building. Lily and I cheerfully stood up and squeal. "Lydia,we were both chosen," her pearly blue eyes fill with tears of joy. " I know right," I said with excitement ,my eyes also with tears of joy. We turned to face our parents pride and happiness written all over their face. My mom began to cry,her auburn hair falling over her face. "What's wrong," Lily asked with concern. "These are tears of joy,my dear,"mom replied hugging both of us.
