2 Mental & Physical Authority

--Sky's Perspective--

A cold breeze blew in my face, shutting my eyes tighter than they had initially been. I guess I had been sleeping, but for how long? I lifted my body and rubbed my eyes, slowly opening them to a bright sun shining on my face.

"Ah, he's not dead!" I turned my head to the angelic voice behind me. The girl's appearance fit her voice; Blonde hair, shiny blue eyes, and a smile that struck my heart deeply.

"I figured he wouldn't be, he was breathing, after all, Dani." I turned my attention to the quiet man with black hair covering the majority of his face. He had dull, brown eyes and a confused look, for what seemed to be constantly.

"I think he was the last one to wake up," I repeated the process over and over again, this time around, the girl had blood-red hair and dark brown eyes, almost black. I began to turn around again, waiting to see another person.

We both locked eyes but didn't say a thing. "What, do you need me to say something too? Well, I don't have the time, we have a huge problem." He pointed towards the sounds of the waves from the ocean, and as I turned my head one last time, I could see exactly what he was talking about.

There were so many people! They all looked around aimlessly, some of them dipped their body parts into the water, only to see how cold it was. The breeze was chilly enough… what day is it exactly?

[The day is December 17th, 2445]

A sudden spike of pain awakened in the back of my left eye. I held the side of my head tightly and tried to focus on anything else to get it away, but to no avail. "The headaches are normal… it seems he finally got him too." The girl named Dani said.

"Oh, so you guys saw the words in your vision too?" Everybody paused and stared at me. "How hard did he hit his head?" The red-haired girl started tapping the side of her head to mimic the pain.

"Probably not harder than Dani. She woke up under a tree branch and slammed into it, you can still see it under this part." The rude man lifted the middle part Dani had, and I could see a red mark on her forehead.

"At least I wasn't eating sand like you!" Dani yelled at him.

"H-How dare you! I thought it was edible!" The rude man said. He shot back, stunned in confusion. I only sat in silence. How stupid were these people? It was obvious knowledge that sand wasn't edible, neither was the ocean's water. Did they not have that?

"Hey, guys… can you drink the ocean water?" Just to see if my theory was right, I started to ask them some basic questions, this being the first.

"Hm… I don't see why not. It's water after all, and we need that." Dani said.

It was interesting to note that they knew about how they needed water but didn't know they couldn't eat the sand. Their rules were scattered, inconsistent, and didn't make any sense.

"Okay, let me try to make sense of this. We all woke up on this beach at different times, some of us ate sand, some of us bumped our heads, some of us can see words in our left eye, things aren't normal obviously, but where did we come from?" I asked, waiting for anybody to answer.

They started to talk amongst themselves, coalescing all of the information and trying to put it together. I lost focus and started to observe the scenery.

The water was strangely blue… not like the color I think of when I imagine the ocean, maybe it was the light, but it looked so unfamiliar to me. Trees covered our backs and the big beach we all stood on was on lower ground than the overhanging dirt by the trees. Right now, we stood on one of the weak overhands constructed over the beach, hanging on by a lucky boulder placement. It wasn't too high, about the size of me if I were to stand on the beach beneath us.

The air was cool, crisp, and almost… sweet. Completely foreign to me, I realized that I have memories from before, but I cannot reach them.

Just like it was normal, I listened to the words in my eye once more, refocusing back on Dani and the others. When I turned, I felt embarrassed, they were all staring at me.

"That thing, on the back of your hand, what is that?" Dani pointed out.

I rose the back of my hand closer to my face to see a piercing white light emanating from a strange diamond in the middle of the back of my hand. The way it was placed, it looked like I shouldn't have been able to close my hand because of interference with my bones or skin, but I had no problem doing such a thing.

"Well, that's not a problem, because you guys have them too, right?" I searched their hands for a stone… but couldn't see anything at all.

"Hey! Why is it only me?" I tried prying it off, but I couldn't even get my fingernails underneath the thing.

"Carl, look over there! It's that guy again!" The red-haired girl shouted out. So, Carl was the name of the rude guy, I probably should've asked for their names before.

"You're right, Red, Domin, follow me." Did he just call that red-haired girl… Red? That was so basic. And Domin was the name of the other guy. I think that was everybody now, wasn't it?

"There you are, Bitch Boy! I was just looking for you." There was a really big, brawn guy with defined muscles walking over to us. He was kind of scary when he walked in that stride… behind him were two people, but I wasn't concerned about them, I was more concerned about this one.

His hair was slicked back and with dull blue eyes, his smile looked sinister.

"I got all of these people suggesting that you should be the leader, but what have you done, other than shoveling that sand down your throat?" The big guy said. The two men behind him laughed as well. I hated this situation we were in.

Idiotically, I decided to speak up. "No offense, but if you're alluding to the fact that you want to be the leader of this group, I think I'd rather shovel sand into my mouth."

The man's annoying eyes whittled away my patience and he picked up my cloth shirt by my collar with his hand and lifted me off of my feet.

"You want to say that again to me, now that you're at eye level with me?" He asked me.

I swallowed whatever fear used to be present in my mind and smiled lightly. "Let me dumb it down for you, meathead, you're not going to be the leader of this group, I vote my friend, Carl." He pulled his head back and slammed it into the base of mine, causing me to stumble to the ground.

"Hey! Now isn't the time! We all woke up and we're confused, we just need to figure things out!" Dani yelled out.

Red started to pitch in, "Yeah, let's just have one big voting role call at night! That way people have time to think about who to vote for!" I wiped blood pouring out of my nose off of my lip and spit more into the sand.

"Then we'll see who ends up winning, Mister," I told the big guy.

"It's Ullr, don't forget it, it's the name of the person who'll end up being your leader." Ullr turned around and walked away with the two people behind him, probably complimenting how strong he was at that moment.

Dani put her hands on my shoulders and with a look of genuine concern, asked me if I was alright. "Y-Yeah, I'm good." I pushed myself up to my feet once more and looked back into the forest behind us.

"Well, it'll do no good to wait around, let's go exploring."
