Friend (2)

When I came out, the only one that I could still see was Yan Huang, so he was the one that I followed.

Yan Huang went to the back of the school and without any effort at all, he jumped over the school wall.

When I stood in front of that wall, I couldn't help revealing a bitter smile.

That was because this was a wall that was easily over two meters tall and Yan Huang had cleared it like it was nothing.

That was just the power that the main character had…

It was too bad that I didn't have the same power, but that didn't mean that I didn't have a way to scale this wall.

I had already expected something like this to happen, so I had prepared my own way out of school without anyone noticing.

It was a cleverly hidden hole in the wall that was right behind a bush.

Though that bush was really a fake one that I had put in front of the wall to hide the hole.

Since I knew that I had to be able to leave school when I needed to, I had long prepared this route.

That was my commitment to being a best friend character!

After crawling through that hole, I was still able to see Yan Huang in the distance.

But he was in a place that I wouldn't be able to reach.

Yan Huang was just jumping from roof to roof instead of running on the main road.

It seemed like he really took being a main character to heart, even going as far as traveling in this manner.

I wouldn't lose in my determination as a best friend character!

So I chased after Yan Huang on the road, though I made sure that I stayed out of his sight.

The difference between us was that he had the powers of a main character.

So even if he was jumping from roof to roof, no one paid any attention to him.

As for me, I almost bumped into several people chasing after him and I had to apologize to every one of them before chasing after Yan Huang again.

We went quite far from the school until Yan Huang finally stopped in a shopping district.

After a moment's pause, he headed off in a certain direction in this shopping district.

It was as if he had found something.

Of course I quickly followed after him, but I made sure to keep a distance so that he wouldn't find me.

Luckily, it was easy for me to blend into the crowd that was here, so it wasn't hard to hide myself.

Yan Huang went to a certain bookstore in this shopping district.

He stood outside the door for a bit before going in.

Once he went in, I quickly went over to the window of that bookstore and peeked in.

The view wasn't the best, but it still let me see what was happening inside.

Though I could do without the occasional strange look from the people passing by.

Yan Huang went right up to the counter where there was an old man sitting there.

The old man didn't seem to react to him, but that didn't stop Yan Huang from standing there and staring at the old man.

Finally, the old man couldn't help saying, "Young man, is there something that I can help you with?"

Yan Huang didn't beat around the bush at all as he said, "Stop hiding already."

The old man revealed a faint frown as he said, "Hiding? What do you mean?"

Yan Huang raised his hand and there was a silver energy that gathered in the form of a sword.

With the way that he was acting, it didn't seem like he was the main character, but rather a thug that was threatening a poor old man. If the people around him were able to see him, then it might have caused a real big stir.

But not a single person reacted even after he pulled out this sword.

That was because not a single person was able to see him with his cloaking magic on.

The fact that the old man was able to was more than enough proof.

When the old man saw this silver sword, he didn't bother acting anymore and suddenly sprouted spider legs from his back.

However, even then, the patrons of the store didn't seem to react at all.

It seemed that Yan Huang had used his cloaking magic again to block the old man from everyone's sight.

But for some reason, I was still able to see the two of them…

For some reason, I had always been able to see through Yan Huang's cloaking magic.

I had always wondered if that was because I had spent too much time with him that I was used to seeing through it, or if it was because of something else…

But this wasn't the time to think about this.

After the old man finished transforming, the spider legs on his back suddenly stabbed at Yan Huang.

Yan Huang was the main character for a reason though.

He was able to easily deflect the spider legs and create some distance with this old man spider.

However, the old man spider wouldn't allow him to run that easily, so he jumped over the counter and chased after Yan Huang.

The two of them continued to clash with one another while moving around the bookstore.

But there was a problem that quickly became apparent.

One side had a clear disadvantage compared to the other side.

The old man spider didn't care at all about the people that were in the store and just attacked without any care.

However, Yan Huang couldn't do the same.

Whenever they came close to one of the customers that couldn't see them, he had to stop and block the attack from the old man spider.

The old man spider quickly realized this and knew what Yan Huang's weakness was, so he started getting closer to the customers and attacking them.

If this continued, Yan Huang would eventually be worn down.

He couldn't help feeling regret at confronting this old man here and not drawing him out…

As I watched them fight, I knew that I had to do something.

So I quickly went to the alley behind the bookstore.

I died...from eating too much.
