21 Timely Help

Just like Deer Maiden had expected, Xu Shuangyu's intention of teasing Zhou Wen to coax her had led to her missing out on the appointment out of sheer embarrassment. Initially, she thought Zhou Wen would comfort her, which was why she reluctantly went ahead with it. However, she never expected that he would answer her coldly with an 'okay' and foil her plan.

"'Okay' your ass Zhou Wen! You idiot!"

Standing diagonally opposite the 'Hao Zai Lai' Sichuan restaurant, Xu Shuangyu gritted her teeth, and her face was livid with rage. She purposely put on light make-up and spent plenty of her time choosing her attire for today, but now all her efforts were in vain.

It took her a long while to cool down. She could not go into the restaurant now, so she took a stroll alone along the food street.

On the inside of the restaurant, the atmosphere was jolly - filled with chatter and laughter. The group had a lovely meal here for about two hours. When the bill came, they had not even spent 600 yuan despite most of the bill being spent on the drinks.

After they left the restaurant, Chen Zhiyuan and a few of them went to an internet cafe. Meanwhile, the couple, Yang Yudong and Gu Hongyun, returned to their love nest. As for Shi Lei, Lin Jiayi, and Zhou Wen, they strolled towards the school.

On the way, they passed a supermarket at the fork of the road. Shi Lei went in to get some groceries while Zhou Wen and Lin Jiayi waited outside. Zhou Wen enjoyed the cool night breeze while his eyes lingered on some seniors walking along the food street. His mind appeared to be wandering about.

"Sorry."

"Huh?" Zhou Wen, who just recovered his senses, was puzzled. He asked in return, "What did you just say?"

Lin Jiayi was tying up her messy hair as she replied, "I was wrong before. I was talking nonsense and bringing trouble to you without any reason. I'm sorry." 

Somehow, Zhou Wen was in a good mood today, and he waved his hand generously to dismiss her apology. He said, "It's okay. I'm not a narrow-minded man."

Lin Jiayi smiled and continued, "How was your interview today?"

Zhou Wen was concerned about how to answer the question as the majority of them did not have a good job. Therefore, he tried to avoid this topic while dining and only brought up unrelated matters and feelings after graduation.

"It went well. However, I will need to wait for the hospital leader's instructions to know the result."

"Yeah." Lin Jiayi nodded.

Then, the two of them continued chatting with each other there.

At this moment, Zhou Wen saw a vaguely familiar figure. She was wearing a baseball cap and a loose red sweater to cover her upper body. She also donned a pair of loose blue jeans with holes in them and paired it with white Converse shoes to cover her feet. The outfit portrayed that she had taken the time to dress up for an outing.

That lady was holding a cup of oolong cheese milk tea while walking with her head lowered. She was busy on her phone.

Zhou Wen took a closer look and wondered, "Is that Xu Shuangyu?"

While Zhou Wen was hesitating whether or not to call her, a young guy who was dressed very fashionably and looked like 'Wang Hu Shang' stopped in front of her and asked, "Hello, miss. Could I have your "Wei Xin" contact?"

Xu Shuangyu was unhappy with him and replied, "No way!"

After that, she was trying to walk away from him, but he blocked her path and said, "Miss, I like you. Do you want to get together with me?"

"No!" 

Then, Xu Shuangyu sneaked past him and kept walking.

The guy did not give up and continued to follow her. "Miss, did you know there was something on your face?" 

At that moment, Xu Shuangyu kept her head down and tried not to give any response to him. The guy noticed her disapproval and really wanted to break the awkward silence, so he said to her, "Miss, my eyes will always be on you."

Meanwhile, all the pedestrians nearby were amused by his silly lover's prattle, and even Zhou Wen could not help but laugh. Nevertheless, he felt that it was rather strange that the guy continued to pursue her. Therefore, he quickly came over and grabbed the guy's arm, and said, "Let it go; you are not her type."

The guy looked at him and looked at Xu Shuangyu, who was still keeping her head down. Then, he left.

After the guy left, there was no disappointment whatsoever on his face despite being rejected by a girl. He did not even look embarrassed one bit. 

"How despising!" 

Zhou Wen was curious. Therefore, he kept tailing the guy and saw him targeting his next victim. At last, he got that girl's WeChat ID.

"F*ck! What the..."

Apparently, this guy was clever in using the strategy of casting a net to hunt more targets.

From the words of Chen Zhiyuan, a well-known love expert who was also known as Deer Maiden- a friend of women, no matter how ugly a man was, if he were shameless, he would be able to find a person eventually.

The method which that guy used was very simple; he just had to randomly add those girl's WeChat IDs and then wait for the bait. But for those where he was unsuccessful, he would just move on to the next target as there was no loss for him. On the other hand, if he could bait a girl, he would have a success story for the night. In fact, the probability of doing so was relatively high because there were so many silly girls in the world.

Zhou Wen sighed after understanding the whole picture. He turned his head and looked at Xu Shuangyu, who looked frustrated, biting the straw in her mouth while staring at him at the same time.

"What were you doing there?" Zhou Wen asked.

Xu Shuangyu smiled and fiercely replied, "Why should I need to tell you?" 

Zhou Wen grinned at her. The man understood everything that Deer Maiden had explained to him before. He did not request nor hoped for anything, and never thought of going after Xu Shuangyu. He believed that everything depends on fate, and he was not the type of person who chased after a girl.

Zhou Wen asked, "Should I invite you out for something?" 

Xu Shuangyu replied, "No." 

He asked her again, "What about a drink?" 

To which she said, "No." 

Then, Zhou Wen said, "Alright. Should I just leave?" 

Xu Shuangyu answered, "That's your business."

With that said, he headed back to the entrance of the grocery where Shi Lei and Lin Jiayi were waiting for him. While he was doing so, Xu Shuangyu was staring at his back and kept counting in her heart, "One, two, three… please turn back."

Nonetheless, Zhou Wen did not look back and just left. This made Xu Shuangyu even angrier. She picked up the cup and smashed it on the ground as she cursed, "You bastard!"

Then, Shi Lei quickly asked him, "Zhou Wen, please coax her." 

Lin Jiayi also agreed, "I agree. Zhou Wen, please." 

Nevertheless, Zhou Wen laughed and said, "Why should I do that? The entire situation just doesn't make sense. Bye."

Xu Shuangyu kept watching as he continued to move further away from her without even turning back. She felt so upset to the point where tears started rolling around at the bottom of her eyes. The tears were about to roll down, but she quickly raised her head and tried her best not to let them fall. "Fine, you were not special to me anyway!"

After that, Xu Shuangyu forcefully blinked both her eyes and rubbed her nose. Then, she left the place and headed in the opposite direction.

Because Zhou Wen could not complete the two tasks assigned to him simultaneously, he could not go to the library to gain more experience in the game. He was not able to sleep well that night and decided to have a run at the playground.

How can one deal with viruses all day without having a strong physique? The flu itself could easily kill anyone. Therefore, one must strengthen their body through exercise and treat it as a goal! After jogging for an hour in the playground, Zhou Wen started doing pull-ups to improve his upper body strength. Having sweated a great deal from the exercise, he finally decided to leave the place.

When he returned to the dormitory, Deer Maiden, Chen Zhiyuan, and the others had come back. "Huh? Why did you guys come back so early?" Zhou Wen asked. 

Then, Deer Maiden said, "I drank too much, and I was too sleepy."

She was lying sideways on the bed and looked at Chen Zhiyuan's phone. She suddenly asked Zhou Wen, "Hey, Zhou, does Lin Jiayi have a boyfriend?"

"Why did you ask so?" Zhou Wen replied.

"Nothing. Just asking." She answered.

Zhang Wei chuckled and said, "My sister-in-law wants to discuss with you about the right technique."

Meanwhile, Chen Zhiyang replied, "Fuxx! Lao Zhang, when did you become so dirty-minded? I only asked if she has a boyfriend. Why do you make everything sound so dirty?"

"That is because your whole body reeks of heather, and people can smell it from eight feet away."

"Hahaha..."

Meanwhile, Zhou Wen went downstairs to take a shower. After returning, he laid on the bed and turned on the system for a moment. Suddenly, he found that there was still a box on the shelf which had not been opened before. Since Zhou Wen had nothing to do at the moment, he tried to open it. The box revealed a stack of cash.

[Congratulations, you received 500 RMB.]

Zhou Wen was shocked and only reacted after a while. "Fuxx, I finally got lucky." He was so excited. He was worried about not having enough money to treat his colleagues for meals and never expected that the system would send him timely help.

He was staring at the holographic messages and read it several times. He could not hold back his happiness after he confirmed it and let out a laugh.

The next day was Saturday. Today was supposed to be a rest day, but Wu Yan forgot to inform him so. Therefore, Zhou Wen woke up early and tidied himself up as usual.

After having breakfast in the school cafeteria, he took a bus to the hospital. On the way, he turned on the system to check the task progress, and it showed there were still 135 hours and 37 minutes before it ended.

Thinking about the mission, Zhou Wen recalled what Zhang Shuguang had told him before and frowned. He claimed that his organization should not have an issue fulfilling his request, but the problem was that time was not on his side. If he does not get a response in less than six days, the mission will be considered a failure.

"I have to ask Wu Yan today. When will I get the letter of employment?"

After arriving at the entrance of the testing center, he saw that Wei Zhaogong and Jiang Hexuan were there too.

Zhou Wen came and greeted them, "Morning." Then, Wei Zhaogong and Jiang Hexuan both smiled and nodded to him. The three of them walked in together.

Because there was no task assigned yet, Zhou Wen went to the fifth floor and continued the electrophoresis analysis on yesterday's amplified products...
