1 Prologue

18-year-old Kris Chandler had just moved into a dorm to begin college. He was walking back from the convenience store with some pre-packaged food for lunch when he saw a little kid on the road, running for a balloon on the other side. He noticed a truck barreling down the street, speeding towards the child. Time seemed to slow down as he dropped the plastic bag and bolted towards the child. He heard the scream of the mother as he pushed the child out of harm's way.

Time resumed its normal pace as his body was smashed and flattened against the road by several tons of metal. Someone nearby called an ambulance but as Kris was loaded into the ambulance with a stretcher, the light faded from his eyes, body mangled and bones broken, Kris Chandler passed from this world a hero.
