11 Puppet

"Hey, Lisa." John greets the eye-glassed women.

John then turned to another woman who has blonde hair. "Hey, Amy."

Both women turned to John and simultaneously greeted him back. "Hello, John."

"You still have a job to do, right? Don't tell me a disciplined worker like you want to slack off for a moment here." The one who spoke was Amy

"Who is the person standing behind you?" Lisa noticed Bill standing behind John.

John placed his elbow on the desk, then replied. "Of course not. My intention to come here was to ask the application form for this little fellow here." With chin, John pointed Bill.

Bill was uncomfortable because of the intense stare that was cast by the two women. Bill awkwardly raising his hand and waved it. "Hi."

"Hello. You look handsome." Lisa replied with a grin on her face.

"Don't scare the boy like that, auntie." Amy rebuked from the side.

"Hey! I'm only 23 this year!" Lisa retorted in anger.

"Don't mind them, they often bickering like this." John whisper to Bill then turned to the two women.

"Hey guys, you still remember I'm here, right? Just give me the form already," John helplessly said.

"Here!" Lisa slammed the paper on the desk, then continued her fight with Amy.

John picked the form and led Bill to an empty seat. Arriving on the chair, John placed the form on the table. "You can write?" Bill shook his head, hearing his question.

John lightly rubbed his forehead. "Ummm...It will be hard for you if you're not able to read and write. Certainly, there will be a writing and reading test."

Hearing that, Bill faces gradually darkening.

"Of course its not a necessary factor since the aspect we mainly search was bravery and strength. A smart brain would only be point plus."

Bill heaved a sigh of relief hearing that.

"Don't be happy yet. Every year, the knight participate will mostly come from the prominent family. Don't think lowly of them. Although most of them were pampered by their families since little, their families didn't lack trainers. So despite the fact that they got pampered, they also got trained by their families. They did that in hoping their child will be able to become duke or viscount in the future."

"When will the test be held?" Bill asked after pondering for a moment.

"Two weeks from now."

"Two weeks." Bill murmured.

'Normally, it will take a few months for him to master the basic language of this world. Fortunately, the test main point is not a smartness. He can raise his strength swiftly by raising his stat. But before that, he needs to find some monster to do that.'

"Don't think about it too much. If you're not fated for this year, you can join it next year." John voice dragged Bill from his own world.

Bill nodded gratefully.

"Let me fill the form for you." John offered then using a quill, he began writing while asking a Bill some question about his full name, age, etc.

"John, is using magic considered as a sin?" Bill said out of nowhere, making John a little startled by the sudden question. John composed himself quickly and answered.

"Of course not. You have seen the pastor cast holy magic on you, right?" Bill nodded at John word.

"Using magic certainly not a sin. But if the caster happens not from a church group, then it can be considered as a sinner. We knights, once reached certain points of the contribution, could also have an opportunity to gain a magic power."

"How do you attain the magic power?"

"We would be given a potion. With the potion, we would be able to gain magic power by drinking it." Explain John

"So simple?" Bill was shocked by the method. If it were that simple, wouldn't that mean everyone can be a magician?

"Aahaha, it's not that simple as you say." John laughed a little at Bill innocence.

"The ingredient of the potion was limited. And since it was limited, the potion only available for a few persons only. Those few people were the knights and pastor which contribution points already reached the sufficient requirement."

Bill about to open his mouth when John continued, "You must be wondering why don't we make the potions by ourselves? It's simple because we don't have a recipe for it. The church was concealing the recipe tightly. There was once a person who tried to imitate the recipe, only to end up a failure. Not only that, but the person also got punished by the church because of an attempt making imitated potion. His fate was unknown after that."

Bill was furious inwardly. The church was acting so tyrannical.

"The king didn't say anything on that matter?"

John sighed. "The King...In fact, the Uremia Kingdom combat power mostly came from the church. So The King didn't dare to intervene on that matter."

It's like many novel Bill been read. The king was only a puppet that was only used by a more powerful person.

Bill shook off his thought and decided to focus on the matter before him.

"Forget it, do you have magic power, John?"

Seeing Bill trying to change the topic, John silently agreed to it.
