17 Path of Supreme Knight

"Why there is no one here?" Bill said while rubbing his shoulders repeatedly.

When Bill entered the entrance of the mine, Bill expecting there would be some inspector guarding. Turns out there is no one except Bill. It seems like everyone didn't start working at these hours.

The chill of the morning wind really makes Bill trembling. The mine wasn't dark as Bill expected. There are a lot of torches around the dirt walls making the dark road brighten. Bill dragged his hand over the empty spaces and like magic, a torch appeared on Bill hand. Though the road already bright enough, Bill only felt secure after he held the torch.

A sound of footsteps reverberated around the area. Since no one presents here, Bill could hear clearly his own footsteps and some mosquito buzzing around his ears.

Bill footsteps finally stopped. He stared at the two ways in front of him. There is a trace of a cart wheel on the left side, while the right side entrance is blocked by a wooden spike. From the trace of a cart, Bill assumed that the left side was the place people mining. And the right side is a restricted area.

If it a normal person, surely the person would choose the left road. But since Bill can be considered as abnormal, he started walking toward the right side. The wooden spike is not entirely covered the entrance. So, Bill cautiously walked to avoid the spike.

Passing the spike, Bill didn't lower his guard and instead increase it. Bill squinted his eyes at the dark road in front of him which look like a road to death. Releasing his shield from the inventory, Bill wore it on his left hand. He raises the torch on his right-hand as to make the road became brighten.

But to no avail, the road still full of darkness and Bill still needed to narrow his eyes to see clearly. If it weren't for the torch Bill been holding, maybe Bill vision would entirely went dark and he can't go anywhere.

While walking Bill wondered why this area was restricted. Is there some kind of monster here? Or is this area had a high probability of collapse? In the past, Bill sometimes heard an accident of ground collapse on the mines that takes a lot of casualties. So, maybe this area had a high chance of collapse. If that's the case, it would make things more dangerous.

But Bill had no choice to continue his journey since he already comes to this far and it will be a pity if he stopped now.

10 minutes already passed since Bill passed the blocked road. The sound of a mosquito buzzing around his ears intensified each time he walked further. At first, he thought it was just some random mosquito that got attracted by his torch. But it seems there is something strange about these mosquitos.

Bill footsteps abruptly stopped and his eyes widened in horror seeing the scene in front of him. There is a skeleton lying before him. It was quite a horrifying scene for an innocent Bill. It was his first time seeing a corpse so he was quite shocked and horrified. He took a step back and took a deep breath to calm himself.

"Calm down, Bill. It just a corpse, nothing will happen." Though he said that, inwardly he shuddered by the thought of there is a monster that managed to kill the person before him.

He was excited and scared at the same time. Excited because the corpse in front of him was evidence there is something wrong on this road. Scared because it will be his first time engaged in battle with magical creatures.

Bill strengthens his determination and takes a step forward. His demeanor currently likes a knight about to participate in a war. Though his body is lean, everyone who saw him currently would feel that the man in front of them could remain calm no matter what happens. Even if the creatures that would he face are a dragon, he wouldn't fear no matter what.

Because that is the path of Supreme Knight.
