1 Chapter 1: 2 wishes

My name is Asriel, no last name. And I'm an African-American male with white hair and black eyes. My age is 14, at least that's how everyone else describes me over the phone, it's honestly really odd because it feels as though they're going to sell me to someone or something.

*SPLASH*

'And there's another one, another carton of milk dumped on my head for the 345th time'

"Ewww Ass-riel why are you still attending this school? It's not for disgusting trash, that's what the dump is for."

'Ass-riel, a now common name for me in this hell they call school. That's right, everyday of every month I'm constantly bullied. But I won't let it get to me, because my mother told me to be strong so I persevered.'

I decided to just walk away from the group of kids with my head down, honestly it's just too much. I don't know if I'll be able to hold up for much longer at this point.

'The kids here, they are all sons and daughters of rich people, I got into this school because I was adopted by the dean's friend who was my father. He later killed himself for reasons I still do not know, my mom also died of sickness and honestly its cliché. You'd expect things like this to happen in light novels, and have some faith in actual humanity.. But no, they are just as ruthless if not, even more so than in the novels I read.'

Those novels are my only light in this dark world. They help me whenever I'm drowning like a life vest, they keep me above water.

I walked up to the roof, contemplating life. I decided that I was done with this place, I would leave this school and find somewhere where I can be me.

'Honestly my only wish is that I could become like them, and follow my own dreams. They strive to be at the top so nobody will ever mess with them, I want the same thing. I want a peaceful life with my family, I want to be able to protect myself and them no matter who or what comes our way. I want to be able to do things that make them smile and cook them delicious foods that have the best flavors. That's my wish, it's honestly simple. But I know it will never come true, why? Because unfortunately this isn't a light novel.'

…I was interrupted again by the sounds of a crowd of people, they were moving in multiple directions. It was like a sea of people, their voices drowning out my thoughts. I tried to calm down and get myself out of this situation and then try to process whatever the hell just happened to me.

I stepped forward and suddenly my surroundings changed, I was in space for some unknown reason. I was panicking, my mind was in chaos. I just heard voices in my head, then I was brought here, I tried to take a step and ended up in space.

"WHAT- IS- HAPPENING… I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS AT ALL..!!?"

"Huh? I feel.. Better now, that's really weird but okay. I need to think back to figure out what happened." I tried my best to remember everything that happened but it was a blank.

All I could remember was my name and basic things like math, science, reading, writing and all my other memories except certain portions. And I could only see myself in them which from what I could gather is extremely weird. Although there are a few memories with people in them, but only a little.

"Wait.. I did hear a voice earlier. Hello? Is anyone there?"

It was the voice of a female, it sounded like that of an angel.

"Woah, your voice is pretty Ms…. What may I call you?" I asked politely.

"Woah, If such a person could make all this happen they must be really amazing, but I'm still confused. How did I get to space just by stepping one time."

"Uhhhhh, I can somewhat understand all of this but why do my stats say [N/A]?" I asked.

[Well, your stats are infinite and never ending but since it would be an eyesore to see all those zeroes and because in this world people can see your stats, it's better not to put it as infinite. Although I can easily mask it in front of others, I'd like you to be able to fend for yourself sometimes.

But I will help you out by making others see you as a normal human with regular stats.]

"But- Why are my stats so high-"

[Well in your wish you asked to always be able to protect yourself and others you love, and to do that you'd have to always be the strongest no matter where you are. So you were {System Level too Low, Access denied.} ]

[I apologize, I forgot about the restrictions placed so we were interrupted by the regulator, anyway your first wish was to become a chef, yes?]

"Ah? Yes, yes it was. I've always been fond of this one cooking anime with that red haired boy I used to watch. The food looked so good, although the people's reactions were a bit awkward.

One time I turned my TV all the way up while watching it and my foster dad kicked the door open asking what I was doing. After that I stopped watching the show to avoid misunderstandings." I said, with a slightly embarrassed tone.

[I see, would you like to be able to cook even better than that red haired boy? And open up your own restaurant?]

"Hmmmmmm, but how would I get ingredients, cutlery and crockery? Or even a place to put the restaurant?" I asked while slightly pondering how I could build it.

[I can do all that for you with the system's power, all you have to do is complete the quest for finding suitable land, it's a chain quest but the system will provide every single thing you need indefinitely. The only catch is that you must serve a certain number of people every month, and they must all enjoy the food.

"Wait! I keep forgetting to ask, what type of world am I in?" I asked.

"I see, well that's convenient. If I ended up in a Xianxia type world I'd have a ton of people constantly after me. Although from what I can remember about the light novels I've read It'd be really funny for them to say 'YOU'RE COURTING DEATH!!!' and then charge at me." I said while laughing aloud.

[I wish I was but unfortunately I'm not, an asteroid is currently heading your way and since your defence is so high and the way it hits you. It will bounce off and shoot rapidly in another direction, which is directly towards the planet.]

[Well, it's similar to swimming, you just guide your body in the direction you want to go and push off. Then you use your arms to regulate your speed and your whole body for direction.]

After about 5 failed attempts and shooting past the planet I finally controlled my speed so I wouldn't damage the planet.

I dove down and entered the planet's atmosphere, this is where the story begins.
