39 Unpredictable 1

"H-Heavens!!!" Sir John's mouth was aghast.

The city wall was quiet for a moment. All eyes gawked at the short display because it couldn't be called fight or whatnot. It barely took 5 seconds and everything was already over. Although, no one knew whether the black men were alive or dead.

Yet, they knew their situation won't be any good. How could a novice mage injure a beginner mage? They thought in wonder. All eyes fixed on the young man in blue, standing tall.

Everything happened because of him. Is there something he can't do?

Thus, when the cloud of dust settled down. Blood and flesh scattered everywhere, dying the field in red. Nothing was left intact.

"Search everywhere," Tami commanded.

Immediately, the men on the wolves jumped down and search the pool of blood for any survival. But after a couple of minutes, only the dead bodies of the men were found. Their bodies were riddled with tens of darts.

"Sir, nothing's left," Rosa reported.

Tami nodded and looked at the sky and shouted. "Don't you dare meddle in our affair again?" He shouted in indignation.

"Boys! Let return" A proud wild smile spread throughout his face.

Meanwhile, Damie and her squad return to the city. She landed beside Al Casendra and gave a detailed report. Hearing her report, all those on the city wall trembled.

What sort of weapon is this!?

Hmm!

Al Casendra nodded and waves his hand. Damie smiles and mounted her eagle and departed from the city wall. He looked at Sir John for a moment before he averted his gaze. Sir John saw Al Casendra's gaze and swallowed the lumps in his throat.

'Is this the same weapon I face during the trials?' His spine was drenched in cold sweats thinking of this.

Hmm. Hmm.

Sir John recovered from his thought and was coward in fear. He looked at the people around him and those below and shouted.

"All the intruders have been killed. Now, we have nothing to fear." His sonorous voice echoed far and wide with the aid of magic.

"This Long-Fall Pass. The new Long-Fall Pass. With his highness behind us. We fear nothing."

Hearing this, the blood of the crowd was pumping, and a confident smile appeared on their faces. They looked at the young man in blue with veneration.

"All hail his high highness." A sudden voice shouted among the crowd.

"All hail his high highness." The crowd shouted happily.

A couple of meters from the excited crowd. A middle-aged man drew his beard in indignation, veins protruding from his forehead. He shook his head vehemently.

"This can't be. This can't be. How did it happen." He muttered absentmindedly.

"Ma, you're right. Those men were killed like they were nothing." A young man reported to a middle-aged woman in her late forties.

"But how did they kill them. Those men are beginner mages. While the soldiers were all novice mages." The young man added.

Millie smiled. "You don't need to know. Just know that anything his highness does. He's confident of success."

'But when did killing mages become so easy.' She cried in her mind.

Bang!

The land trembled and a shout of jubilation echoed from afar. A group of men rode their wolf and journeyed through the city with proud smiles on their faces. Both old and young stared at the men riding the wolves in awe.

'This is crazy. How could they ride a monster beast.'

For a couple of hours, the talk of the town was the defeat of the beginner mages. Meanwhile, the man behind everything has to return to his study as if he had nothing to do with the jubilation.

"Your highness. The men are ready." Cole excited voice resounded from outside. He volunteered to be his highness's messenger. People couldn't understand, while a peak novice mage would choose to be an errand man for the manaless prince.

But now, everything was looking different. He was now a man people need to consort before they could have an audience with the extraordinary prince.

Al Casendra matched out of his study and looked at Cole and nodded slightly. Hmm! Cole's eyes widened. "Did the prince just nods toward me?" He muttered in dismay.

At the training, the soldiers were shouting happily, talking about their glorious win against the black men. Those that weren't part of the squad and a bitter expressions on their faces.

"Stop your bravado. It's a joint effort. Stop being shameless." Damie snorted.

Tami rubbed the back of his head and glared at Damie. 'What did this witch want from me? Can't she let me enjoy this moment?' He cried in his heart.

"His Highness has arrived." A voice shouted.

"Salute!"

At once, all the relaxed men scrambled to their feet and formed a formation instantly. The bustling training ground descended into an abrupt silence.

Al Casendra mount the podium and looked at his soldier. He nodded slightly and took the writer and wrote.

"At ease."

"Well done… Who can tell me why will won the fight easily."

Reading the rows of words, a smile crept to the soldiers' faces. But the last question throws them into deep thought.

"Sir, because of our weapon." Tami step out and shouted confidently.

Al Casendra didn't make a sound. His eyes dart from one soldier to another, waiting for more answers.

"Because they underestimate us," Cairo answered.

Al Casendra nodded and looked at Cairo for a moment before he wrote on the board.

"Both of your answers are correct. The weapon you carried is not a normal weapon. Yet, it shouldn't have given you a smooth victory like today. But your opponent underestimates you."

"But if our opponent didn't underestimate us. The result will be different. Also, the eagles' squad intrudes in the battle which is not according to my order. In the military, you report and wait for direct order."

Damie swallowed the lumps in her throat and her back was drenched in cold sweats. She knew what was coming next.

"All eagles squad are to retreat deep into the forest until further notice. Also, I want a detailed map of the forest of the outer forest."

"When you return. I want one thousand beast core."

What!

"We are dead."
