39 Chapter 37 Ray

Speeding back to his pack infirmary Ray kept glancing over at Fenris watching as more and more of her blood soaked into the seat. He kept his hearing trained on her faint heartbeat that seemed to be beating slower and slower.

Never before had he seen Fenris like this, small and weak. Those were words Ray would never have used to describe the powerful girl, but just because she's powerful doesn't mean she's invincible.

Based off of the fact that Ray's skin burned when he touched Fenris' wound he knew it could only be one thing, blood of a double-heartless wolf. That blood was not just poisonous to werewolves but it attacked their souls. Basically it tried to kill the wolf inside them and that would kill the human.

Honestly he was surprised Fenris was still alive. Most wolves who have even a drop of that poisonous blood enter them are dead within a minute having experience a writhing pain the entire time it took them to die.

Coming up on the entrance to his packs territory Ray realized that the guards wouldn't know it was him, he was driving Fenris' car and they wouldn't know that, but he didn't have time to stop and tell them. So he drove past the guards nearly hitting one when she jumped in front of the car to stop him, but Ray refused to slow down. Ray heard them howl the alarm and knew that they were following him.

Seeing the infirmary Ray got as close as he could before he slammed his foot on the breaks, nearly hitting the double doors to the hospital. Throwing open the car door Ray shoved the two guards that had followed him away and rushed to the passenger side.

"Ray!" Duke yelled out, rushing from the infirmary having been told about the intrusion by his wolves, "What the hell are you doing?" he snapped.

Ignoring his father Ray focused on Fenris, all he could think about was getting her inside and safe. Wrapping his shirt around the wound tighter he gently picked her up out of the passenger seat and could hear her slow heart beat getting even slower. He ran past his father, who went pale when he saw who was in his sons arms, and ran for the doctor.

"Fix her! She's been hurt with the blood of a double-heartless wolf!" His voice and body starting to shake with the panic he could finally feel.

Without a word the doctor took Fenris from him and put her on a gurney then rushed away with her.

Ray could feel his heart beat in his throat, pounding, making it hard to breath. Looking down he saw his body covered in the dark blood that had been seeping out of Fenris. His bare chest covered in blood like he was the one injured, blood slowly rolling down to his abs, his blue jeans almost black with the amount of blood covering them. In the back of his mind he knew that the blood was burning his skin, but he was frozen in place staring at all the blood.

"Ray? What happened?" Duke asked, stepping near his son. "Ray?" When his son still didn't answer him Duke put a hand on the young boys shoulder, hissing and pulling away when his fingers touched the blood. "Ray! Ray!" Duke walked in front of his son and lifted his face, "Ray you need to shower, that blood is burning your skin." Duke gently said.

Hearing that Ray's eyes went wide and he started hyperventilating. "Its Fen-Fenny's blood...ther-there was so much. Oh Goddess she-she was bleeding everywhere. I-I tried to-to stop it, b-b-but it hu-hurt to touch her." He stammered out through heavy breathes, fat tear drops slowly rolling down his paling face.

Duke signaled for a nurse to come over and whispered to her to take his son and get him in a shower and monitor him then burn his clothes and give him new ones. "Ray it's going to be ok." He said softly.

"No! No it's not! This hurt from just touching the blood. But this blood it's Fenny's, it's running throughout her entire body." Ray shouted at his father. The nurse, wearing gloves, slowly moved Ray down the fall as he continued to mutter to himself.

Duke looked after his son in shock then looked in the other direction where they took the girl he called his daughter. Praying to the Goddess he begged her to keep Fenris here with them, because if she left so many people here would lose a shining part of their life.
