Chapter 12: Part 2/2

Annabelle POV:

Overall the dinner had been going very well. In fact everyone had divided into their own groups once the food, which was steak and potatoes, was served. The parents were talking to each other about the future of Ray and Mary becoming the new alpha and Luna. Then Ray and Mary only seemed to see each other and therefore only really talked to each other. This meant Annabelle only really talked to Fenris, and she was loving it.

Despite Fenris' terrifying first impression, Annabelle could tell she was a good person. Not only had Fenris pulled out Annabelle's chair when they went to sit down but she also got her drink. It seemed Fenris was doing everything in her power to get Annabelle to like her so they could be friends. Annabelle had to admit, it was working, and Fenris was being really cute doing all those things for her.

"So, Annabelle." Fenris turned to her. "Tell me about yourself." she said cutting into her steak.

Annabelle swallowed her bite of potatoes, "Well I'm 17 and a junior. I love reading and drawing, but in my spare time I mainly listen to music and watch anime. I'm also an omega." Annabelle waited for the ridicule of her omega status.

"What type of music do you listen to?"

Annabelle looked at Fenris shocked. [Did she not hear me when I said I'm an omega. Maybe, maybe she doesn't care.] Annabelle smiled, "I listen to Fifth Harmony, Lindsey Sterling and PINK mainly. One of my favorite songs is 'Write On Me' by Fifth Harmony."

"Cool, I don't really know those bands but I'll look into them." Fenris started to shift a little and her cheeks were turning red, "And um, are you, I mean have you, have you found your mate?"

Annabelle could feel her own cheeks redden at the question. "Um, no. I haven't found them yet." she said.

Fenris was looking down at her plate and Annabelle could have sworn that Fenris smiled and said 'good' before she took a bite of the steak on her plate.

Annabelle could feel herself starting to blush and tried to stop it. "What about you Fenris? Tell me about yourself." she said, taking another bite of potatoes.

Fenris swallowed her steak, "I'm 18 and a senior. I love listening to music like Five Finger Death Punch. I mainly watch crime shows in my spare time, but when I can I come here and either run in my wolf form or fight Duke."

"So you're half wolf?" Annabelle asked, also wanting to ask what else Fenris was, but she didn't want to pry or make Fenris mad at her when everything was going so well.

"Yep. There's actually a physical education day that the whole school does together, so maybe I'll show you my wolf then."

Annabelle simply nodded her head. She hates physical activity, yes she's a wolf but she's also an omega so she can't keep up with the other wolves.

Eventually they started talking about what they both like and don't like while they ate.

Fenris was fun to talk to and the two didn't seem to run out of topics to talk about. This didn't mean that they liked the same things or even agreed. Actually there were very few things that they had in common, but she loved hearing Fenris talk about what she's passionate about and she could tell Fenris felt the same way when she talked.

For example Fenris had no idea what she wanted to do in the future, she said it would be 'hard for her to fit into mundane society', whatever that meant. So Annabelle had told her that she wanted to possibly do something in teaching because she loved little kids. Fenris had asked her to tell her everything she loved about teaching and kids, and so she did. Annabelle had gone on and on until she realized Fenris hadn't said anything in a while.

"Sorry. I kind of went on a rant there." Annabelle said, blushing shyly.

"No, don't apologize. I like hearing you talk about wanting to teach. It's cute."

Annabelle could feel her blush deepen and spread down her neck. She'd never really been called cute before, and to have this super powerful and attractive girl call her cute made her face nearly combust in flames.

Luckily, the luna stood up to grab everyone's plates which gave Annabelle a distraction from Fenris' last statement, Mary quickly got up to help the luna. After a little while both Lily and Mary came back in with plates of dessert.

"Here you go Fenris, I decided to make one of your favorite desserts since I haven't made it for you in a while." Lily said putting a plate down in front of Fenris then Annabelle. The plate had a large slice of red velvet cake on it.

"Mmm, thank you Lily. Your red velvet is the best." Fenris said, bringing a forkful of the dessert up to her mouth and taking a bite. Turning to Annabelle, "Try it." she said with a small smile.

Annabelle took a bite, and Fenris was right. The cake the luna made was the best she's ever had. Moaning from the delicious dessert Annabelle took another bite and looked up only to see Fenris staring at her wide eyed, her fork hovering in front of her mouth.

"What? Is something on my face?" she asked, wiping her mouth with a napkin.

Fenris became flustered and dropped her fork. "N-no, nothing's on your face. I-it's nothing, nothing. Everything's great." she said, turning away from Annabelle.

Annabelle raised her eyebrow at Fenris' behavior but shrugged her shoulders dismissing it, taking another bite of cake.

Annabelle's mom, Poppy, after finishing her conversation with the alpha couple turns her attention to Fenris, "It's Fenris?"

Fenris quickly swallows her bite of cake and nods her head. "Yes mam."

"That's a unique name." Poppy says slowly.

"Mom!" Annabelle exclaims, she doesn't want Fenris to feel insulted.

Poppy turns to Annabelle, "What it is unique. There is nothing wrong with being unique." turning back to Fenris, "You are in the same year as Ray and Mary, correct?"

"Yes mam."

"And have you found your mate yet?"

"No mam."

"Oh I bet you're just excited to meet him. I remember before I met Bill I was nearly bursting everyday with nerves." Poppy said, with a smile and excitement lighting her eyes.

"I am excited to meet 'her', yes."

Poppy's eyes grew wide the longer she stared at Fenris, "I don't think I heard you right. Did you say her?"

Fenris nodded, "Yes I did."

"You're probably just going through a phase or something. You're a child, how could you know what you want." Poppy says with a dismissive tone.

"Mam I may be a child but I have no doubt that the person I want to spend my life with will be a woman."Fenris sat up straighter and Annabelle could see her hands turn into fists.

Annabelle's mother looked at Fenris with a look of disgust she'd never seen on her face before. "If that is the case then I'll pray to the Goddess you have no mate. Such a thing is disgusting and unnatural. Nothing can ever come of a bond between a man and man or woman and woman."

The room grew quiet at Poppy's statement.

Annabelle's jaw hung open, she couldn't believe her mother had just said that. She had always figured her mother was uncomfortable around same gender mated pairs, but she had never said anything bad about them before. Annabelle herself had never cared about the gender of her mate, which is one of the reasons she never used pronouns when referring to her future mate, because she felt they could be either male or female.

Annabelle looked over at Fenris and was about to apologize, until she saw Fenris' eyes, nothing but pure rage was reflected in them.

Fenris' POV:

Fenris had been having an amazing dinner talking to Annabelle. The girl was not only beautiful on the outside she was beautiful on the inside. Fenris could listen to this girl talk about her passions and interests all day, all night, forever.

When Lily had brought out dessert and Fenris told Annabelle to try it she knew the other girl would love it, but when she moaned, oh Goddess. Fenris felt a shock run through her body at the sound. She stared at Annabelle and saw her take another bite of cake, watching the fork pull out from her lips, Fenris had felt something she'd never felt for another living thing. She felt desire. Desire to kiss her, to claim her, to be hers was all she wanted.

When Annabelle had called her out on staring she could feel her cheeks quickly heating so she had hid them.

But all good things must come to an end, and the end was named Poppy. Fenris knew that even though some people who were truly mated together were of the same sex, there were people out there who didn't approve. She herself had meet a few and they usually said the same thing 'Gay is wrong' or 'Nothing comes from a homosexual relationship', but no one had ever said that to her. 'I'll pray to the Goddess you have no mate.' The phrase kept repeating in her head. 'I'll pray to the Goddess you have no mate.' The fact that this woman was going to pray she never found her mate, her other half, the one she would protect with her life nearly broke her. Fenris was enraged to the point that all she wanted was to ripe this woman's throat out.

"What did you say?" she growled out through clenched teeth.

Poppy looked at her and took another bite of the cake in front of her, seeming unaffected by Fenris' increasing anger. "I said nothing can come from that type of bond."

Fenris could feel her eyes starting to pulse, showing the anger she held within. Her back also felt like there was a knife sliding up her shoulder blades, but she ignored it only focusing on the woman casually eating the damn cake in front of her. "Before that. What did you say before that?" she was barely able to ask through her anger.

Poppy, this woman she didn't know, looked her in the eyes. "I said that if you want a female mate I'll pray to the Goddess that you have no mate."

Fenris could feel her rage grow and her powers flare, showing she wasn't far from losing her mental control and injuring, if not killing the woman sitting across from her.

Looking around Fenris could see Duke, Lily, and Ray staring at Poppy with disdain. Both Mary and Annabelle had shocked expressions on their faces, but Bill, Poppy's mate seemed disappointed.

Fenris looked at Annabelle and Annabelle looked back at her. There was shock on her face and sadness, Annabelle mouthed [I'm sorry] to Fenris with tears in the corner of her eyes.

Pushing through her anger Fenris closed her eyes to try to calm down. Looking back at Poppy she could still see the disgust in the woman's eyes which brought some of her anger back, but she didn't want to lose control in front of Annabelle. "Look, you don't like my sexuality, that's not cool but whatever. All I ask is that you leave me finding my mate out of this and we can drop the whole subject." she grunted out, turning back to Annabelle to try to calm her anger more.

"Ha, like I would listen to you. I can pray to the Goddess for whatever I deem necessary to be prayed about. So I am going to pray you never have a mate. Someone like you, who not only likes girls but is also a mix-blood, doesn't deserve a mate."

Fenris snapped her head back around to look at the insane woman. She could feel her claws and teeth elongate even more than what they usually were. Her eyesight and hearing sharpened. Fenris knew that if this woman did or said one more thing to piss her off Fenris would kill her. No 'ifs', 'ands', or 'buts' that the woman would be a bleeding corpse on the ground.

That's when she did it, Poppy smirked at Fenris, knowing that she was angering the young adult, and Fenris couldn't take it anymore.

She slammed her fists down on the wooden table cracking it, standing up with such force her chair was launched back, Fenris felt her anger take over. Fenris heard a ripping sound and felt excruciating pain through her entire back, only slightly numbed by her focus on Poppy. She then saw everyone gasp looking at her.

Looking over her shoulder she saw her wings. They were giant, the black and grey feathers easily touched the floor. The feathers were currently covered in blood, small droplets dripped off the tips and hit the ground. No doubt the sight was terrifying, a girl with red and gold eyes that had fangs and claws just sprouted black wings dripping in her own blood.

Fenris looked back at Poppy and finally saw the terrified expression on her face. Grinning and showing her fangs, Fenris stalked over to Poppy ready to kill her, as her anger fully took over.

"Fenris, stop. Fenris. STOP!" Duke yelled at her, desperately using his alpha voice, knowing it would have no affect on her.

Duke quickly got in front of Fenris preparing to fight her. Bill got up and stood next to Duke in order to protect his mate.

Fenris walked up to the two slowly, her wings dragging on the floor leaving a trail of blood. The closer she got the more fear she could see in the two mens eyes. No doubt they could feel her power and knew that they were no match for her. Getting in front of them Fenris quickly grabbed both their shirts by the collars and threw them across the room into the wall, knocking them both out.

After looking at the two unconscious men Fenris turned her attention back to the cause of her anger and walked towards her.

Before she got close somebody else put themselves in her path to her real target. She growled at them hoping to scare them into moving away.

"Fenris, listen to me. I know what my mom said was cruel and mean. To be honest I don't blame you for wanting to hurt her. But you don't have to. Fenris, don't let your anger win."

Annabelle.

The girl she had been growing close to stood in her way and she was conflicted. She could never hurt Annabelle even through the haze of her rage, she already knew that, but her anger was telling her that the woman behind Annabelle needed to pay.

Growling Fenris stepped forward and extended her bloody wings hoping that the action would scare Annabelle into backing down. She could see Annabelle flinch from the growl and step back from Fenris' show of dominance, visibly shaking from fear but she didn't walk away. This caused Fenris to stop, confused at the action of the frightened girl.

Her pause was all Annabelle needed. Before she knew it she felt something slam into her and wrap around her.

Sparks. Whatever was wrapped around her caused sparks to erupt all over her body, and not electrical sparks but sparks of pleasure. The sparks seemed to remove some of her anger to the point that she wasn't even thinking about the woman cowering on the floor a few feet away.

Looking down she saw that what slammed into her was Annabelle, her short stature causing her head to press into Fenris' collarbone. The unplanned hug had Fenris nearly purring at the feeling it caused her.

"Fenris. Stop. Please." Annabelle whispered, snuggling her head into Fenris' neck. With that, the last of Fenris' anger disappeared completely and she hugged Annabelle to her.

Pulling back after a few minutes Fenris grabbed Annabelle's chin and turned it so she could look into her stunning green eyes. When their eyes finally locked Fenris couldn't have been happier, because the one person Fenris thought she would never find was standing in front of her, in her arms.

"Mate. My beautiful mate."
