1 Chapter 1: Fenris

Blinding light.

That was what made Fenris finally wake up. The blinding light from the sun shining through her curtains that she could have sworn she closed all the way last night just so this wouldn't happen.

Feeling around on her nightstand for her phone she unplugged it and brought it to her face. Squinting her eyes against the light of the screen she saw it was past noon. She layed on her back staring at the ceiling and was trying to decide on whether she should get up now or later.

It was almost the end of the summer before her senior year and she hadn't seen her best friend, Ray Carter, for nearly the entire summer. He had gone to a nearby wolf pack to see how they run things and had spent the summer there preparing for when he becomes alpha in two years. He's finally coming back today and he said to meet him at his pack house around 2pm.

Groaning, Fenris finally gets up because she needs to get something to eat and shower.

Stepping out of her room she looks around the small apartment. It had one bedroom with a detached bathroom and a kitchen that was sort of in the living room. Overall it was small and lonely.

She walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. She hated what she saw. Looking back at her was a girl around 18 years old, 5'8" with long wavy black hair, full slightly pink lips, and thick eyebrows with a scar that split the left one. The girl was well muscled but not overly so. Overall the girl was very attractive. However none of these features are the first thing people see. The girl in the mirror isn't just a girl, she's a monster. The monster has gold eyes with red around the pupil and the fangs of a beast. Fenris takes off her shirt and turns around. There on her back are two long scars about seven inches running down both of her shoulder blades. This is the reason Fenris is alone and can't live with her family, she can't hide the monster that she is.

Fenris' mother is a demon and her father is a werewolf. Both her parents can easily hide their supernatural half and appear human, which they prefer to do. But Fenris can't, her eyes and fangs are always there and the wings she gets from her demon half can only be hidden for one week every month.

She loves her wings, they're black with some grey feathers mixed in but she wished that she could choose when she had them and when she didn't. Right now she has them hidden considering school starts up again tomorrow so she won't have them showing for the first week.

Fenris turns away from the mirror and finishes stripping and steps in the shower and washes herself, taking her time to just relax under the hot water. Getting out she quickly dry's her body and brushes her hair before putting on loose jeans and a black t-shirt with boots. She grabs her phone and looks at the time, realizing she spent more time in the shower than she thought and she only has twenty minutes to get to Ray's house she puts her phone in her pocket. She grabs an apple and her keys, locks the door and goes down to her car.

Fenris unlocks her car and gets in. The car is a cherry red charger and was a gift from her parents. She loved the car and probably took better care of it then she did herself.

Looking at the time Fenris starts her car and takes off.

When she finally reached the pack house, which was deep in the middle of the woods, she parked the car and got out. She barely had time to close her car door before she was picked up from behind and practically crushed in a hug.

"Fenny! I missed you so much! I haven't seen you in years!"

Fenris knew immediately who it was that was crushing her in a hug. It was her best friend Ray. Not only did she know based on his scent, but he was the only one who could call her Fenny and live.

Fenris broke out of the hug and turned around to face him. "Ray how many times have I told you not to call me that and what do you mean forever we skyped two days ago."

"But I love calling you Fenny Fenny, and skyping isn't the same thing as seeing you in person." he said, frowning.

She rolls her eyes, "Whatever. Did you want to go for a walk before your dad sees me and he tries to see if he can finally beat me." she states.

Ray immediately nods his head, "Yeah, last time he tried to beat you you guys nearly destroyed the whole pack house. If mom didn't come when she did you two might have done just that." he states with a deep laugh.

With Fenris rumored to be the most powerful supernatural creature alive and Ray's dad, Duke, being one of the strongest alpha werewolves the two are constantly fighting each other. All in good fun though, neither one has ever tried to cause serious harm to the other. To them it's a fun way to let loose against someone who can take it. Duke has never been able to beat Fenris though, even when he seriously tries to.

Ray and Fenris took off down a trail in the woods to the right of the pack house.

Fenris shoved her hands in her pockets and listened to the woods around her. Her eyes made it possible for her to see almost every living thing near them, she could see all the birds, squirrels and rabbits nearby.

She eventually turned her attention back to Ray. Ray is 6'2" with short wavy dark brown hair that he dyed blonde and brown eyes, he's very muscular and when he wants to be he can be very intimidating. And even though he could never intimidate Fenris, the fact that she knows him and his tendency to sometimes act like a teenage girl makes her laugh when he tries to be all intimidating.

"So how was your summer? Did anything happen at the other pack or were you bored the entire time?" she questioned.

"It was interesting seeing how another pack is run. I learned some things that I might try to bring into our pack." he said simply, but there was something off.

Fenris looked at him closely. She saw a sort of shine in his eyes, and was he glowing?

"What's up with you, you seem different."

He looked at her and couldn't help but smile, "What do you mean?"

Her eyes widened, "Your happy, like annoyingly happy. Something good happened at the other pack, what was it?"

He looked at her and somehow the smile on his face got even wider, "I found my mate!"
