SUPERHERO GETS A GRANDPA SYSTEM

It's not so easy to make it as a superhero these days. In the golden age of heroes, it didn't matter what kind of ability you had. If you had an ability, dressed up in bright colors, and came up with a crazy name; you had it made. You were a hero. The world isn't so simple anymore. Kyle Kane is finding life as a teenage superhero to be worse than a pimple on prom night. Eliminated from his team and forced into normal classes, Kyle's F class powers have doomed him to harassment and mediocrity. Then one day, he gets a cranky message from a system. "I'm your system, congratulations, blah blah blah." Is this Kyle's chance or just another new way to be humiliated?

A Game of Shadows.

Rajinn and Shadow Bow were talking when they heard Shadow Sis suddenly exclaim.

"What's wrong!" Shadow Bow asked as he rushed to her side. His sister looked very worried and frightened.

"I forgot to quit the group!" she said.

"Group?" Both Shadow Bow and Rajinn were confused. Neither Shadow Bow nor his sister knew their memories about the group function of the system were erased every time they left.

"Yes, the group, remember that thing in our head that Kane sends us. It lets us work better in battle?"

Shadow Bow was very confused. "Kane put something in our heads?"

"Do you have amnesia?" she asked her brother.

"Why is it bad that you didn't leave the group," Rajinn asked.

"Because Kane can find me wherever I go. He has a map and can find me on it. I can see on my map that he's on his way here. That's what startled me; he'll be here in less than ten minutes." she said.

"We should leave quickly, Kane is very powerful and has many surprising tricks," he told Rajinn.

"He is the one with the mask I was fighting?" Rajinn asked.

"Yes, Lord Rajinn, I don't know why he put on a mask. Maybe it was part of his armor. It seemed like his strength went way up when he put it on. He'll be here soon, he must not find you!"

Shadow was very worried about Kyle and others finding Rajinn. Strangely, Rajinn didn't seem as worried.

"Little Shadow, you said you can see him on your map?"

"Yes, Lord Rajinn, there are other things I can do. There is something called a shop and I can purchase things with it," she said.

"Ah, it would seem this Kane has a system of some kind. I've encountered them before. Those possessing such things are incredibly dangerous and their power grows rapidly.

I lost one of my lives to a person with a system. We must be careful, but perhaps we can use this to our advantage.

Little Shadow, I'm going to erase your memory of us. Take this," he said as a copy of his medallion appeared.

Close your eyes, and when you open them; you'll know what to do," Rajinn said to her. Her eyes suddenly felt very heavy. When she opened her eyes she was laying in the branches of a tree and Kyle was looking up at her.

"Shadow Sis, where's your brother? Where's Rajinn," Kyle asked her.

"Brother? Rajinn? I don't know where brother is; who is Rajinn?" She was disorientated and confused.

"What are you holding?" Kantor asked as she jumped down from the tree.

"This? The lady general was holding it. I took it from her to keep the Baron from getting it. It seemed important to him; then I ran and ran until I came here. I guess I fell asleep."

Kyle was studying her carefully for a while. It seemed like she was telling the truth.

"You sure are chatty," Kyle said.

"Huh?" Gilbrew immediately realized why he thought this exchange was so strange. He never heard this girl speak before, but now she was carrying on a full conversation with them.

She even gave them a lot of important information.

"Brother told me not to talk to strangers, but you and Gilbrew aren't strangers," she said to Kyle.

"You've been here the whole time?" Kyle asked.

"Well, for a while. At least an hour," she said.

"What's going on with brother?" she asked Kyle.

"I think Rajinn has taken over his mind, or he is somehow forcing him to help his getaway. Shadow Bow even killed Riley," Kyle said.

"He killed the blue swordsman? I liked him," she said sadly. She was truly upset that Riley died. Of course, she also didn't remember anything about Rajinn or her connection with him.

Kyle observed Shadow Sis carefully and wasn't able to detect any signs she was lying. That didn't mean she wasn't lying, but if she was then it was impressive.

"Shadow Sis, go ahead and give the medallion to Kantor. Uhm, Kantor, can you spare some people to escort her back to the base in the barrier?" Kyle asked.

"Of course, I'll send her back right now," Kantor said.

Bragg watched Shadow Sis disappear with Kantor and finally walked up to Kyle.

"What's going on?" he asked Kyle.

"Something's strange, I don't know if it's Shadow Sis or something else. She seems sincere, but I have a hunch we're being played with," he said to Bragg.

"A hunch? Is that enough to doubt Shadow Sis?" Bragg asked. He didn't tell anyone but he had a little bit of a thing for Shadow Sis.

"Shadow Bow mercilessly killed Riley. I'm already giving him the benefit of the doubt by assuming he's being controlled. If he can be controlled to kill Riley; couldn't Rajinn be controlling her?"

Bragg thought about what Kyle said and agreed with him.

"We need to find Rajinn, but she was our best lead. What do we do now?" Bragg asked.

"Look at the ground," Kyle said.

Bragg looked down at the ground but couldn't see anything special. He looked around and then back at the ground. Finally, he looked at Kyle.

"What? What's wrong with the ground?" he asked.

"Do you see how clean the dirt is?" Kyle asked.

"Clean?"

"Indeed, it almost looks like someone used a broom to brush the dirt. It's almost like someone was trying to erase their tracks. It's done so well that it was probably done with magic," Kyle pointed at the ground as he spoke.

"Magic?!"

"Shadow Sis doesn't use magic, but someone who could use magic did so to cover their tracks. I think Rajinn and Shadow Bow were here. They may have erased her memories," Kyle said.

"What do we do?" Bragg asked.

"What else can we do? We look for them," Kyle said.

Kyle examined the area for a while looking for clues, but he found the scene to be completely clean. There weren't any clues, and that was the biggest clue. Maybe they were still close.

"Kantor!" Kyle signaled for the Spirit Man to come over. He repeated what he told Bragg and came up with a plan.

Although he no longer had the map to cheat; he still understood Shadow and could guess their next moves. With this knowledge, he was able to come up with a plan with Kantor.

Hopefully, he could catch them before they got away. If they got away, well, Kyle didn't want to think about what that would mean.
