Chapter 6

When I was going to enter my room, I heard parents talking in the next room . I didn't want to interrupt, so I waited outside for my mom to see me but she was deep in conversation with Dad .

. By their expressions, it was clear that they were talking something serious. I came closer to the door and tried listening to what they were talking about.

Mom was saying, "He is just 14 . I don't think he can handle it"

Who was she talking about?

Dad said," I don't know , Amelia. We let those other two get in a mess. He is our last hope and we can't let them destroy him"

The other two?

"But it has to be passed from generation to generation or else you know what happens"Dad said

I could tell by his expression that he was worried about something and I hated to see my parents worried

"Yeah , I Know but let's keep him out of this now .", my mom said . She had the same expression.

" It would have been okay if Felixus was out of it but now it seems that we have to give it to him", My dad said.

How is Felixus involved in all of this? I thought.

"You trust him right"? my mom said, holding my dad's hand .

"Yes Amelia , yes . I completely trust him . I trust him more than myself"

"Then?" my mom said, her voice shook.

"Why don't you understand, Amelia? " he sounded frustrated which was something unusual since he was always cheerful and happy.

"It attracts the Nutellions but we don't have any choice. Two months left for his birthday and if not now it's too late and you know if it's not passed on to the next generation , it might end our generation."

Two months? End our generation? What were they even talking about?

"Well , Zach will be coming home now . We can talk about it tomorrow", mom said.

I waited outside in the kitchen .

My parents came out of the room together after some time.

"I am hungry", I said . I really was.

"When did you come?", mom asked.

"Just now". I replied quickly.

"Doesn't your school get over at 3?"dad asked and then looking at the clock asked,"Where were you?"

"Adrian's home" I said

"The healing boy", I added because Dad made such expression that I had doubts if he understood who Adrian was.

"Oh", he said. looking relieved.

I always thought that dad doubted me and sometimes I was tired of his behavior so I didn't talk to him much and besides he had his own business to think of and so he couldn't give me that time.

I mean, he has reasons to be doubtful. Who won't when both my sisters are trying to blackmail me to join them? But that's not it .

He was more worried than doubtful.

"You get yourself changed , meanwhile I will be making a toast for you, okay?" mom said

"Alright" I said and quickly got changed and sat down to eat

I was busy munching my food when dad asked , "Are you free tonight?"

"Yeah , why?" , I said . I was surprised. He rarely asked the question.

"I was thinking maybe we could go out to see a movie or something" dad said.

I looked at both of them.

We rarely go out together but I had something in my mind.

"Don't you have a meeting with your friends tonight?" I asked.

"Yeah but one day off wouldn't matter , right Amelia?", he asked mom.

Mom didn't say anything . She was glad. Well, both of us missed dad when he was not at home . So , obviously I was happy to go out with my parents.

He noticed me looking at him with an 'unexpected ' expression and smiled and said , "What do you say , Zacharius?"

"Okay ", I said and smiled.

And suddenly the sky became sunny.

My mom looked outside and said ,"Someone is happy"

I smiled again and the sky became more sunny. I was in a happy mood.

"We are going out at evening and we will have some food outside" dad said

"okay", mom replied.

At 6 p.m , I changed into Abigail and was about to go out when dad said , "No , you be whatever you want to be"

I was surprised.

Well , my parents didn't want me to change to Zach just a few days ago and now they were asking me to be whatever I wanted.

I smiled and changed into Zach .

We got into the car . I had always wanted to drive

"Can I drive?", I eagerly asked Dad.

As obvious the answer was, "No"

"Okay ", I said and saw outside the window

"So how is school?" , dad asked.

"Good" I said.

"And your studies?" , he asked

"As usual" I replied.

"Which subject do you like the most?", he asked

"Um , gender fluid" I said. Obviously, that was the only subject I could score A .

"I guessed so" he said.

I was happy because dad was talking to me and was not doubtful about me . He was talking freely and suddenly I was proud and pretty much satisfied that he was my dad .

Suddenly, he looked at me and said, "Just so you know it's 6:30"

"Um , yeah" I said looking at my wristwatch .

"So?"

"And the sky is sunny" he said

I looked at the sky and realized that it was indeed sunny.

"Yeah, you know I just can't control my emotions" , I said and looked at the see sky

After some time, it turned black.

"Now it looks like it's 6:30" , dad said

"Yeah , sorry about the sky", I replied

"No sorry , I am glad that we are together today"

And suddenly he smiled his big wide smile , and anyone would be pleased with his smile.
