Train to Hogwarts

"Platform 9 3/4?", I asked while observing the ticket that Hagrid gave me. Silence followed and when I turned my head around, I realised that he was gone.

... Why did he disappear without showing me where?

My short holiday had just ended, and it was time for me to head to Hogwarts. Hagrid fetched me to the train station all while telling me how wonderful Hogwarts was. He left after throwing me the ticket and now, I have to find the train station all by myself.

I tried to scan the station using my X-Ray vision, but I couldn't seem to find an entrance. Luckily however, I did spot the Weasleys with their iconic red hairs. I hurried over to them just in time to see the Weasley twins messing with their mom.

"Fred, you are next," the plump woman said.

"I'm not Fred, I'm George," said the boy. "Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother. Can't you tell I'm George?"

"Sorry, George, dear."

"Only joking, I am Fred," said the boy and off he went into a wall with his trolley of luggage.

Staring at the brick wall, I seemed to see a vague outline of the other side with my Super Vision. Ah, the platform isn't in another dimension, it's connected but muggles can't see it because of the concealment charms. Just like how they walked past the Leaky Cauldron despite its location between a bookshop and a record-shop on one of London's busiest streets. Who built it though? I doubt there are train engineers in the wizarding world. I think they just stole this train line and made the muggles forgot about it...

I adjusted my eyes, focusing on the blur image until it became clear. Seems like I have to do a few more training to get my Super Vision to be able to see past such concealment charms automatically. By this time, the Weasleys had gone in. I followed right after, and I found myself onto Platform 9 3/4. Boarding the train with my luggage and Hedwig, I found an empty cabin and sat down while waiting for the train to depart.

Without wasting any time, I took out my books to read. Even though I had Super Speed, it will still take me awhile to finish reading them. After all, I had lots of books. I had taken the Knight bus all around the UK and copied the books in the various libraries, including those at Oxford.

Just as the train started to depart from the station, I heard a knock on the door.

"Do you mind? Everywhere else is full", Ron said sheepishly at the doorway.

"Oh no problem, make yourself comfortable", I replied.

"Thanks", Ron said as he sat down, "I'm Ron by the way."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Harry", I said as I introduced myself. At this time, Ron saw the scar on my head, "No way, are you Harry Potter?".

"Yup, that's me", I replied as I shook his hands.

At this time, a snack cart came by. "Anything from the trolley, dears?" The trolley lady asked. Huh, I forgot about this. Is this her full-time job? Does she only work four times a year? Being the only one selling candies means that there is absolutely no competition. Her customers are just a bunch of children with no adult supervision. I guess, parents don't give them much money to spend so they don't have to worry about it.

Right on cue, Ron said, "No thanks, I'm good", taking out the sandwich that he had in his pockets.

"I'll have a few of everything", I told the lady, taking out the galleons in my pocket. After all, I hadn't tried wizard candy. I wondered where the trolley lady was when the Dementors came in the third movie. She was probably marking up the price on the chocolates after they came.

Ron and I feasted on the snacks as I explored the different flavours. Ron's rat came out from his other pocket during this time.

"This is Scabbers by the way, pathetic, isn't he?" Ron said, introducing his pet to me.

"A little", I replied when I saw the rat, I had almost forgotten about him. A plan started to form on how I should deal with him as I recalled what he did. I guess I would need his confession to free my "remaining relative". After all, I would have more freedom with Sirius Black being my godfather.

"Fred gave me a spell to turn him yellow, want to see?" Ron said, taking out his wand.

"Yes", I exclaimed as I tried to see how his magic would flow within him.

At this moment, a girl fully dressed in the Hogwarts uniform came to the door. "Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville lost one… Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see then", she said arrogantly.

Clearing his throat, Ron started his chant, "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!". At this moment, a small magic blast came out of his wand, blowing the box of candy that the rat was eating away. The rat remained the same colour though, probably because he isn't really a rat.

"Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it?", she said, looking down on Ron's performance.

"Of course, I've only tried a few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me.". Without introducing herself, she barged in and took out her wand. Pointing it to my face, she said, "For example, Oculus Reparo".

My spectacles seem to be cleaner. Well, I'm just wearing them like Clark Kent's disguise, but I should take better care of them.

"That's better isn't it? …Holy Cricket, you're Harry Potter! I'm Hermione Granger by the way, and you are…?", Hermione said as she stared at Ron.

"I'm Ron Weasley", Ron mumbled with his mouth full.

"Pleasure. You two better change into robes. I expect we'll be arriving soon", Hermione said, exiting the cabin right after.

What was that...? From an outsider's perspective, Hermione's really NOT likable. If I recall, there wasn't any character growth yet. She's currently someone who sucks up to teachers, is very prideful and arrogant, and is socially awkward. I mean, pay attention to her actions and attitude throughout the books. If you take away Harry's insider perspective, she's a lot less likable, isn't she? I guess the troll event during Halloween would really change her character, especially when she starts becoming friends with Harry and Ron.

I could probably start by being her friend, that is, if I'm in Gryffindor.
