14 Loss of Damn Good Loot
He took a total of two hours buying them, and as he walked towards Son of heaven's gang, looking for the rest of his needed beast souls, his sea of soul started to shake.
Once he took a look inside, it was the mantis reaper sword which had completed its evolution. He took a look at the system clock and grinned. Thirty minutes. Oh, he would have so much fun with this. He covered his mouth with his hand and spoke to Anne.
"Anne, can you estimate the time of evolution based on this data?" He asked hopefully.
"Certainly. The time for evolution from ordinary to primitive grade is of three hours. From primitive to mutant it stands at three days. From mutant to berserk mutant it takes five days. From berserk mutant to Sacred-blood nine days. From Sacred-blood to berserk sacred-blood it takes two weeks. From berserk sacred-blood to super it takes one month. Finally, to upgrade from the super grade to berserk super grade it should take two months. Please be aware that these are an approximation and could be wrong. The fluctuation shouldn't exceed five percent if that is the case."
"Oh Anne, beautiful, perfect Anne. You are the bearer of the most excellent news any man could hope for." Ling Yun would've already started dancing if he didn't care for his appearance. He was ecstatic.
And why shouldn't he be? He just found out he only needed four months to take an ordinary beast soul and take it all the way up to a berserk super beast soul. Two months for a normal super creature. A month for a berserk sacred-blood beast soul, and just two weeks for an ordinary sacred blood creature.
Once he thought of his plans, he smiled once again.
'In a month, I can give Han Sen the black beetle armor. By then, I should be able to upgrade my own armor and a weapon to a sacred-blood beast soul, or just the armor to the berserk sacred-blood grade. Two months after that, it should mark the start of the martial arts competition. In order to stand a good chance in the competition, I need my armor, my spear, and the shapeshifting beast souls. Those three are a very solid layout. If possible, the wings, the bow, and at least one arrow should be ready too. Having little ugly, which is already on sacred-blood level have battle mode ready by then could also help, but that is low priority. In order of importance, I need my armor, spear, shapeshifting, bow, arrow, wings, and little ugly in sacred-blood grade. So, I have three months to prepare, and I need between two weeks and seventeen days in order to upgrade a beast soul from ordinary to sacred blood. In that time, I can upgrade five ordinary beast-souls to the sacred-blood grade, or four to the sacred-blood grade and one to berserk sacred-blood. I also need a good amount of mutant and sacred-blood geno points, otherwise it would all be pointless. I also need to train. But my mount needs to be at least of the mutant grade in order to make it to other shelter in time. Sigh, so many things to do and so little time…'
Of course, if other people could hear what Ling Yun was thinking they would be beyond mad.
"You think spending two weeks of your time to get a sacred-blood beast soul is a bother? Well you are a bother! You are the mother of all bothers! You complain because it will take you a while to get five sacred-blood beast souls while all of us brothers risk our lives to get a single mutant geno point. Just die already!"
Yep, Ling Yun could hear the imaginary complains already.
After smiling to himself a bit more, he moved towards Son of Heaven's gang. Once there, he stopped at their store and browsed their beast souls.
If the goddess gang had variety, then son of heaven's had punch.
'I may not like him or his people, but I have to admit he's got style.' Ling Yun smiled helplessly. Almost all the beast souls present were, to a certain degree, pretty tough-looking. Granted, most of the were ordinary, and there were only a couple of primitive ones, but they did look pretty cool.
Unfortunately, Ling Yun didn't find anything he was looking for.
Just as he was about to walk towards fist guy's gang, he stopped on his tracks.
'Why, exactly, do I need to buy more beast souls? Even if I spent a year with the ones I have, I wouldn't be able to completely upgrade them. I don't even need daggers or other weapons. Hell, I don't even strictly need the flying and aquatic mounts, they are just something I wanted out of convenience. Flying with beast souls is pretty tiring, after all. Ok, its decided. I will buy those other two mounts and that's it.' Ling Yun nodded to himself.
As expected, Fist Guy's gang didn't have his specialized mount beast souls, but they did have pet he was interested in. Unfortunately, he didn't have enough time for feeding another pet beast soul.
So, he looked out for a nice, quiet, secluded spot, and opened the system store. He bought a Black-Clawed Emerald Falcon as a flying mount and a Tri-Horned Shark as an aquatic mount. Both of them were ordinary beast souls but had a lot of potential.
Not in regard to combat, of course. They were mounts, they had no combat capabilities. No, in regard of size and speed.
The Falcon could, according to the system, grow to a staggering five meters height, fifteen meters in length, and a thirty meters wingspan. Its speed was also always in the upper tier of its respective grade. And the same was true for the Tri-Horned Shark, it could reach staggering speeds. Its length could also reach twenty meters, and a width of five.
He also got a pitch-black body shield that slightly resembled a cocoon. It was not completely flat or plain, so any weapon that clashed with it would have a reduced efficiency. It belonged to a Flesh-Eating Cocoon and was too an ordinary beast soul.
Still, as his spear was mostly a two-handed weapon and his swordplay was not as good as his spear, he didn't anticipate using it much.
Ling Yun bought each mount for twenty thousand points, and the shield for thirty-five thousand, leaving him with a bit over three million points.
Now, with a lot more beast souls and ready to start kicking ass, he called his profile again.

'Sixteen Beast souls, huh. One super, one sacred blood, two primitive, and twelve ordinary ones. And there is still another one I must get at all costs. Right now, I would take about eight months in order to take all of them to sacred blood. Six and a half more months for berserk sacred blood. Fourteen months for super best souls, and twenty-eight months for berserk super grade. All in all, it would take a little over four years to completely max the level of the beast souls. In other words, absolutely unnecessary. Armor, at least an arrow, a bow, the spear, wings, shapeshifting, and a mount. These need to be super beast souls. The rest can be sacred-blood ones no problem. I can do it. It is very simple, after all.'
Ling Yun smiled placed gave the black crystal to the onyx panther. After all, probably the most important beast soul was armor.
He let the panther be in its cocoon. If Anne's calculations were right, it would take about three days for a new mutant armor to be born.
It didn't matter to Ling Yun, though. Right now, he needed a lot of ordinary creatures. After that, he would dine on primitive creatures. And only after that would he start on mutant creatures and so on and so forth.
In a perfect world, he would only need to eat nine more green-scaled beasts, and ten copper-toothed beasts in order to max out on both ordinary and primitive geno points. It would only take 19 days, so it would be doable.
Unfortunately, life wasn't perfect just like that. No, it was messy, chaotic, and not very good in accomplishing plans.
After thinking that, Ling Yun was facing a lot of green-scaled beasts in the forest outside of the sanctuary. He took three deep breaths, and activated heavenly eye, energy radar, and metal body. This was a state he could maintain for about two hours after days on end of practice.
He summoned his bow and an arrow, both of them ordinary.
But it doesn't matter, for his prey is an ordinary creature too, and all he needs is a good angle and his target is dead.
Ling Yun summoned little ugly and ordered it to clean up after him but stay away from the creatures. Taking a deep breath, he knocked the arrow into the bow, aimed for a second, and let loose.

That day, under the constant onslaught of arrows and death, the green-scaled beasts were hunted until they started to be scarce in the vicinity of the Steel Armor Shelter.
Ling Yun, in his desire to excel, killed close to seventy creatures with only his bow and arrow. It was a massacre.
The sad thing was, he was so concentrated on improving his skills, he forgot there was an ugly centipede trailing behind him eating all his loot.
And it was damn good loot.
