16 The Library

Totally devastated

This is how I felt at that time.

Even after we arrived at the library, I wasn't able to recover myself from the shock that this quest brought to me. Seriously, what that system is thinking?

I was radiant with happiness seeing that I was able to get out totally unpunished from my little crime, but life quickly gave me a reality punch, a powerful one, right in the stomach.

Invade the crazy Elder's house right in the moment he's most upset about losing his son? This is suicide.

But well, what could I possibly expect from a thief quest? That's kinda make sense, but I really still had faith that the quest would follow the same game pattern. Oh how I could be so innocent.

I couldn't stop whining. I should have chosen another class, this is definitely unfair, the system is clearly trying nerf me out.

"Rao, come on, we only have two hours here, we have to quickly choose our new techniques." (Karen)

As always, Karen pulled me back to reality.

She's right, we have only two hours to navigate among all the thousand books on the second floor. If we take in account that we will have to read the books description to better analyze the pros and cons, two hours is very little.

I just need a move technique, so it will be easier for me.

"Let's go, faster!" (Lycia)

"Yes, yes, let's look for an incredible new technique" (Raonir)

The Elder Kabal that we saw in some chapters earlier was here in the library too, waiting for the disciples to arrived.

I wonder what he did with Elder Edward ... Well, never mind.

He explained the rules, we could only choose a book on the second floor and we had only two hours to do it, were also able to choose two books on the first floor.

Access to the library first floor was free for all sect disciples

On the first floor there weren't only low-level techniques, but also was there that all the knowledge unrelated to cultivation was found.

History, philosophy, monsters guide, herbs guide, alchemy, strategy, even had a kind of Kama sutra.

All these books were freely accessible.

Cultivation techniques, however, even low-level, needed to be buy with merit points.

It was required a small number of merit points, so any outer disciple would be able to accumulate the amount with a little bit of effort.

The second floor, however, was different, besides being much more expensive, it was accessible only to inner disciples.

As soon as we got to the second floor we came across a very large and open area, but it wasn't as full of shelves as the first floor. On the second floor, most of the area was occupied by sofas, tables and chairs. All of them were occupied by disciples, looking at their white uniforms, it was easy to identify them as inner disciples.

That white uniform was much more elegant than this brown uniform that we ,outer disciples, need to use.

None of inner disciples paid attention to the incoming outer disciples, we seemed totally invisible. I don't know if this was because we were external disciples or because we were extras.

But anyway, I didn't care that much, I was more focused on the books.

There were only 10 bookshelves, each of them with 100 books, totaling 1000 books.

The sect had the lemma "less is more" so they didn't exaggerate the amounts of techniques to be distributed to the disciples for fear to confusing them with too many options.

I particularly think that 1000 books is already too much, but ok.

All the books on the shelves were full versions, but we would have to present them to the library monitor so they could give us a copy of it, after all, even if they were complete, they need to stay on shelves so other disciples could search for it too.

Not wasting any more time, I go to the first shelf followed by the girls.

No one spoke, for fear of bothering the inner disciples and getting into trouble.

As soon as I got to the front of the shelf, I pick out for a book with a move technique name.

But as soon as I touched the book something incredible happened.

[Ding! Leaf Evasion Technique found - Would like to learn instantly for 10 super point?] [Y / N]

WOW! That's what I was talking about!!!

I was so excited that I almost dropped the book.

Sorry systems, sorry for not trusting you! Obviously you would never try nerf me

Hahaha, learn instantly, this is amazing !!!

First I calm myself down, selected "NO" to learn and put the book back on the shelf. I wouldn't spend my precious super points randomly.

First let's think, what would be the best techniques to be learned for my future development?

As I thought seriously about my new choices, I glanced at a book that caught my eye. I couldn't help but reveal a smile, really, to everything to fit so perfectly ... Maybe I'm a protagonist? I laugh in that delirium.

"What are you laughing at?" (Lycia)

She whispered to me as she blinked her big curious eyes.

"Oh nothing, I'm just excited." (Raonir)

Saying this, I held out my hand and touched the book with my fingers, as if I were just using my fingers as markers to help me read.

As soon as I touched ...

[Ding! Hidings Art found - would like to learn instantly for 10 super point?] [Y / N]

- YES!!!

[Ding! You learn Hidings Art]

At that moment I felt an enormous amount of knowledge flooding my mind. Insights and experiences also popped up, I didn't need training...

Hidings Art.

It wasn't necessarily a technique but an unstandardized compilation of ways to manipulate vital signs and aura, hiding presence and even the cultivation stage.

For me it was like a divine gift, I could hide my cultivation that would be madly raise soon, and I could also take advantage in another issue.

As soon as I level up that art a bit more...

It seems that I have a private library waiting to be looted.
