17 Sunagakure Genin Corps
After the strange confrontation with Hitori Kotchu, who beat his ass quite a few times in the academy during tasks and evaluations, Kaito went straight to the Sunagakure Genin Corps, where he reported everything that happened in this mission to his superior Taki, a jonin who specialized in Kenjutsu.
The Sunagakure Genin Corps was not a monolith. There were many 'Orders', but Kaito had chosen the Puppeteer Brigade Order, due to his affinity with the hidden arts of puppetry of Sunagakure. The building was nothing too grandiose, just a huge dome of argile on top of the sand, looking like a fortified dome. According to what he had heard, even a jonin would not be able to pierce through the walls of the Sunagakure Genin Corps headquarters with his strongest jutsu. It had been built by the hidden art of the Kazekage, second of his name, Shamon, hailed as one of the strongest shinobi in history.
"After this, Eiji woke up...and that's about everything I know", Kaito said without much emotion. It was hard to process that he had survived this ordeal, and even harder to realize that he was now safe.
"Humph...You and your team made a significant contribution to Sunagakure. The Kotchu clan managed to break the code and reveal the contents hidden in the notebook, and if it had fallen in the hands of the Tanigakure, it would have been pretty bad. On behalf of Sunagakure, I thank you"
Kaito's eyes widened slightly.
He would have never dreamed of being congratulated by Taki, the stone heart leader of the Sunagakure Genin Corps.
"This is too much of an honour"
"Don't underestimate yourself, kid. You and your team managed to survive the assault of a Tanigakure Chunin. This is no small feat. The mission has been upgraded to B-Rank, and each one of you will receive one million Ryô. This should be more than enough to cover your losses", Taki said, "You're dismissed"
Before Kaito could react to this announcement, a wave of notifications started to pop up
