13 Karura's death, birth of Gaara

"Hitori! Are you all right?" Chiyo spoke out in shock as she saw the change in Hitori's eyes, along with that, the aura of the boy was completely different from his normal self.

"What are you doing to Aunty Karura?" he shouted as he ran to her. Seeing her pained expression, shock and worry flooded his head as all he wanted to do was to go to her.

But as he ran towards her, he was stopped by Rasa who used gold release on Hitori's foot, causing him to stop in his advance.

"You must not disturb right now!" Rasa spoke out loudly as he stared at Hitori with a serious expression.

Hearing this, Hitori's mind was somewhat called back to sanity but he couldn't help but ask, "What are you doing to her?"

"Lady Chiyo, please continue," Rasa spoke as walked back to the bed after seeing Karura give him a weak but visible nod.

Chiyo nodded seriously and she injected slightly more chakra into her, causing the seals to enter into belly right where she had her hand over

"AAARGHH!" a loud pained scream sounded from Karura as her face turned into an even uglier expression.

Hearing her scream, Hitori's face was slowly turning into one of panic, he desperately shouted, "What are you doing to her? What is that red chakra that is appearing in her belly?"

Rasa and Chiyo froze in shock, how could he tell? There was no chakra visible in the room and yet the boy was able to tell.

But they did not answer him and Karura turned her head towards Hitori and weakly forced out, "Little Hitori, don't worry... I'm amazed... that you are able... to see the one-tail's chakra..."

But she did not get to finish as Chiyo continued the sealing and another devilish scream sounded from the room.

Seeing the red chakra in her body slowly spread around her body and condense into her building belly, Hitori's face turned extremely sorrowful as tears began to appear on his face.

Shukaku? What is happening here? Are they making her a jinchuriki?

"Granny... What's... going on? Why... are you putting... the one-tails in her... body?" he cried while stuttering. He wanted to break free but knew that if he did, he wouldn't help anyone. Chiyo wouldn't do this for no reason, right? There must be something about this that he was not being told.

Chiyo did not answer him as she was currently focusing her whole concentration into keeping the seal active while transferring Shukaku into her child.

About fifteen minutes passed, and all the seals were absorbed into the belly and the pained screams from Karura seemed to end. She was breathing heavily as she had sweat pouring out of her body along with Chiyo while Rasa watched while tightly holding her hand.

"The seal is done," Chiyo spoke out weakly as she used up a tremendous amount of her chakra.

Hearing this, Rasa smiled happily as he stared at Karura and gave her a loving hug while speaking, "I'm so proud of you."

Karura smiled slightly as even smiling seemed to take a large amount of strength from her body.

Hitori was staring at this scene with a complicated expression, his eyes were fixed on her belly which was quickly radiating a large amount of red chakra that only he could see.

"Aunty Karura, are you okay?" Hitori blandly asked as he stared at her with his tear-stained face.

"I'm fine," Karura replied as she raised her hand and placed it over her belly and rubbed it slowly.

Suddenly, Hitori could see something go wrong, the chakra in Karura's body was slowly being overwhelmed by the red chakra that was spreading out from her belly.

Cough!

Karura coughed out a mouthful of blood and panic once again entered the room.

"Karura!" Rasa shouted as he saw her eyes grow weak.

Chiyo immediately scanned her with her chakra and couldn't find any problem with her body. He felt her body was stable and there was nothing wrong with her organs.

"HELP HER!" Hitori's shout suddenly sounded and his mind was shouting in worry and panic.

Rasa looked at Chiyo with a pleading and desperate look.

"I can't tell what's wrong with her," Chiyo replied, causing Rasa's heart to drop. She was the best medical-nin in the village. If there was nothing that she could do then they were hopeless.

Hearing what she said, Hitori's mind suddenly crashed. He stared at her with an extremely unwilling look as he saw that she was currently too weak to even reply.

'I will not accept this!' he shouted in his head and as he did so, a sudden change occurred as the chakra in his body suddenly seemed to condense once again into his right eye, it caused his eye to change in appearance. The black in his pupils seemed to extend downwards and spread out in a small arc, calling it look like an image of a very bad resolution boat with a sail.

As this happened, he was suddenly able to see the chakra in Karura's body more clearly and as it did so, he saw that the chakra in her body was not being overwhelmed, it was being devoured!

"She is going to die!" he shouted as he saw how bad the situation was.

"The beast's chakra is devouring the chakra in her body!" he shouted again, alerting both Rasa and Chiyo.

Having this information, Rasa looked at Chiyo with a doubtful look.

"It's probable. If we don't act now then it might be too late," she spoke, time was running out.

After spending two seconds deep in thought, Rasa took a look at Karura with a loving look and then turned to Chiyo and spoke, "What do you need to do?"

"If what he said it true, we need to take out the baby immediately," Chiyo informed.

"WHAT?" Rasa broke out in shock, "It will be born prematurely. Isn't that dangerous?"

"It has never happened before so I don't have an absolute answer," Chiyo spoke seriously.

"What do you need me to do?" Rasa asked, ready to accept whatever Chiyo was about to do.

"Get her conscious. This is going to be dangerous, I will need her help," Chiyo spoke as she also called a pair of nurses to come help her.

Rasa nodded and sent his own chakra into Karura's body and he found the red chakra. As his chakra went to intercept it, he found that his own chakra was being overpowered and devoured.

"I will not lose my wife," he mumbled with determination as he sent more of his chakra into her body, causing the beast chakra to halt to a standstill.

"Ugh..." Karura groaned as she slowly gained consciousness.

"Karura, I need you to push. We need to take the baby out now or else you and the baby will die," Chiyo spoke.

"Okay..." Karura spoke as she realized how drastic and dangerous the situation was and she began pushing.

Hitori was standing there frozen, the gold dust from his feet had been released by he did not move as his concentration was on the situation ahead of him.

The chakra battle between Rasa and the beast was currently at a stalemate and the source of the red chakra was slowly moving lower and lower down Karura's body.

This battle continued for another hour until Chiyo spoke, "Almost there. One final push!"

"ARGHH!" Karura shouted as she pushed with all her might. But just as the baby was about to escape, a sudden burst of the beast's chakra spread out throughout Karura's body.

Rasa was caught off guard and all his chakra in her body was expelled back into him.

Cough!

Karura coughed out a mouthful of blood and laid there weakly while she took large gasps of air and her body slowly relaxed.

"Congratulations, it's a boy," Chiyo's voice sounded as she stood up from the blanket and had in her hands, an extremely tiny boy with an extremely pale face. His eyelids and the area around his eyes were black and small strands of red hair covered his head. He was breathing extremely lightly.

She placed the baby next to Karura. A smile appeared on Karura's face as she weakly forced her head to turn to her side and she saw the baby. Tears appeared in her eyes as she spoke while crying, "He's... so beautiful..."

After she said this, she felt something coming up her throat so she immediately turned to the other side and coughed out blood again.

Hitori slowly walked towards her and once he got to the bed, he stood there, frozen as tears began to flood his eyes.

"What's going on?" Rasa asked worriedly as she saw Karura suddenly split out blood.

"I am not able to tel-" Chiyo spoke but before she could continue, she was cut short by Hitori who suddenly cried silently, "she has only moments to live."

Hearing this, both were shocked to their core. Meanwhile, Karura simply smiled as she completion was slowly becoming paler and paler, she turned her head towards the sleeping child and spoke, "He is not lying... I can feel the chakra in my body fading... My little one, I'm sorry that your mother... will have to leave you so early. I am such a failure as a mother... I vow to always protect you even in death..."

Tears flowed out of her eyes as she stared at the baby and foresaw the hard life ahead for the little one. She weakly smiled at the baby, no longer having the strength to turn her body anymore, she closed her eyes and weakly spoke, "Hitori..."

"Aunty Karura?" Hitori immediately called out, alarmed that she had suddenly called out to her name.

"Take care of him for me... I leave him in your hands. Teach him to be a kind boy..." she weakly requested.

"I... will," Hitori spoke as he turned his head and towards the baby as tears kept flowing.

Hearing him agree, Karura smiled as she took her final breath and said, "My worries are lessened."

And at this moment, Karura died, never to breathe, smile, or open her eyes again. She left after giving birth to a jinchuriki.

Sensing the sadness in the room, the nurse decided to take the baby out of the room as there were probably about to be loud griefs soon.

"Gaara..." Rasa spoke slowly, also in grief, "his name will be Gaara..."

Hearing his voice seemed to ignite the rage in Hitori's heart as he turned around to face him and Chiyo.
