Waking up on the forest

(Hm? What happened? Did I fall asleep? But I was at the garden, and then... I think... I got hit on the head? Yeah, that's definetely something that princess would tell the guards to do. But where is this? I must've been out for a pretty long time, this place looks pretty deep into a forest.)

Regaining consciousness, Kaine started looking around. It was amazing, by the state of the forest, it seemed like it was never before touched by mankind. Although he knew it was not true, since the guards put him there. Looking at where was fainted before, Kaine found a dagger.

(I guess the guards took a little bit of pitty in me. Well, good for me, this will make things easier.)

He wasn't stupid enough to not accept the dagger just because it was out of pitty. He had pride, but he knew that there were more important things. Now holding the dagger, he started to swing it, on a critical moment he had to be accustumed to it. After a couple minutes he heard a sound.

Kaine pulled the fruit from the tree, it was the size of his hand.

(Is it poisonous? If I eat just a little bit first it won't be a problem... right?)

Gathering the confidence to eat this unknown fruit, he took a small bite a sat under the tree to see if there was any effect to eating it. After a few minutes, Kaine felt it, or rather than that, he stop feeling his legs, then his arms.

(... so it was poisonous, I shoud've eaten a smaller portion. ahhh, why did I have to be so unlucky?)

He stayed like this for 15 minutes and then heard it again.

Kaine was right, after just a few second he could move normally again.

(Guess I will finish eating. If I do, I will either be fine and fill my stomach or be like that again and possibly raise my resistence. It's a win win.)

Just as he finished saying it, he took now a big bite from the fruit.

(Ughhh, so it's the second option.)

Just like before, Kaine didn't feel his legs and arms. But this time it only lasted 5 minutes until de sound.

Yes, it was poisonous. To be precise, this happened another two times in a row. It's a mistery if he's unlucky for not finding even one fruit that wasn't poisonous or if he's lucky to find them and acquire the resistences.

(Uuugh, I got too many abnormal status in a row, I have to find a place to rest.)

Deciding that, Kaine continued his exploration. After some time he found a nice looking cave. It wasn't too big but had decent space. Also, it wasn't so easy to see so it was unlikely to atract animals looking for shelter. He decided that tomorow, as soon as he wakes up, he is going to look for water and some animals to hunt.

Around five hours later Kaine woke up, and as soon as he did he noticed something.

(Hm? I'm not tired? Hmmm... Ah, it must be my sleep resistence. I didn't think it would work for normal sleep too, that's really good. But it's still dark outside, I don't want to risk hunting at night. Guess I'll go back to sleep.)

And so he did. As soon as the sunlight could be seen, Kaine woke up and exited the cave. He already had a small idea of how his surroundings were, so he knew where there wasn't any water. His guess was that there would be a river near a hill he could see above the trees, so Kaine decided to go there.

On the way to the hill, Kaine found a small stream where he could get water from. Getting closer to it he saw some rabbits eating grass. Although they were rabbits, they weren't normal at all. From the start of their head to the end there was a total of seven small horns. Although it looked menacing, Kaine found it a little funny since it looked like a mohican from his previous world.

There were 3 rabbits in front of him. He had aproached them very slowly so they wouldn't notice him, and it worked.

(Oh, great. That will help. But I still have to get close so I can hit them with my dagger. Hmm... Yeah, that will work.)

Kaine picked up a rock that was beside him and threw it to the opposite side of the rabbit. When the rock hit the ground, the three rabbits focused entirely on that direction since it could be a predator and if they weren't prepared they would certainly die.

Seeing they were distracted, Kaine rushed to the closest rabbit and stroke him on the neck. Because the dagger was pretty sharp and the rabbit was weak, it died with just one hit. The other two rabbits heard their fellow rabbit scream and turned around.

One of them rushed at the moment he saw what happened. Kaine was in a bad position to use his dagger. Although weak, the rabbits were pretty fast for someone like him. When the enemie got close enough he kicked it on its head with all his strength, throwing it several meters away. Realizing the difference in strength, the third rabbit ran away while his friend was about to get killed.

Kaine decided not to chase him, it wasn't worth it to spend so much effort and run so recklessly just for one rabbit. He walked to the one still alive on the ground and struck his head with his blade.

Kaine now had two rabbits, he didn't need to worry about food for a while and could get whatever skills they had.

After getting the two corpses and drinking some water, he headed back to his cave to cook. Kaine really wanted to eat meat for a few days now and because of this he decided to cook the whole rabbit at once.

It took a little while but got ready.

The smell was great, for someone as hungry as he was, anything was good. Kaine started eating, and he did it non stop. After a few minutes the hole rabbit was gone and he heard the notification sound.
