1 Summoned

Everyone wishes to be summoned to another world, to gain magic and fight the Demon Lord to save the world. Well not everyone. As a logical thinker Ren fully understood the dangers hidden in another world. Firstly, the chance to be a hero who succeeds is so minor that even if you are lucky enough, you will still most likely suffer losses like an arm or a leg. On the other hand, a supporting members will be blamed if they live and the hero dies if there even is a hero or an actual summoning. Furthermore, no-one who has went missing has reported that they went to another world or not enough have proving that coming back to Earth is almost impossible.

Still Ren enjoyed novels and story's about other worlds as they portrayed the imagination and wonder a human brain can conceive as well as giving Ren a break from his usual routine life.

So, when a bright light filled Ren's classroom, his mind was racing to be ready to react to any situation he finds himself. If Ren and his classmates end up in a castle, Ren would let his guard slightly, however if he finds himself in a forest, he will listen out for flowing water and animals nearby.

Though contrary to his expectations, it was a black room with red lines flowing through the walls giving off an eerie feeling. The worst part was that the feeling felt cosy to Ren as if he was snuggling with a dozen kittens in a thick blanket. It wasn't normal.

Out of nowhere, the room disappeared, and Ren found himself standing with his 24 other classmates on a pentagram like pattern etched in a what seemed to be chalk. Mystical symbols that looked familiar to Ren surrounded the circle and linked to two other patterns forming a large magic circle.

Ren looked over to all his other classmates, who were standing in a trance-like state with blank expressions before mumbling quietly to himself and smirking slightly when the transparent screen appeared.

"Why are you standing there smirking to yourself?"

The voice that called out to him made him jump as he didn't think that Alex was staring at him instead of standing in a trance. Ren looked over at Alex to see him chuckling from Ren's reaction. Alex was an average 15-year-old with short blonde hair, blue eyes and a height of 5ft and 10in. He had a modest build which sported the school's navy-blue uniform and black trousers. Ren was of a similar stature and build, yet had dark brown hair which was way messier than Alex and dark brown eyes.

"So, are you going to tell me why you are happy or are you going to stand in shock all day?"

Alex asked with an obvious joyful and optimistic vibe. Ren was half-tempted to say no and just look at his status screen, but he assumes he will require assistance, so helping Alex 'level up' should be beneficial.

"Say status open and you should see a transparent screen appear in front of you"

"Really? Status open!"

"Nothing happened, Ren don't lie to me!"

Ren was in complete shock, 'Then what is this screen in front of me? Is there another trigger? Or am I just special?' Thoughts like these raced through his mind until he realized there was one sure way to know, to check the status.

Ren glanced over at the transparent screen, just when the door slammed open causing everyone to jump awake from their previous state. A tall muscular man appeared with a red cape on his back, a scepter in his hand and what seemed to be a crown on his head. He appeared to be a king.

Worry appeared on everyone's faces except for Ren. The reasons for that are: 1, Ren is too preoccupied with the fact that Alex couldn't open the status screen and 2, Ren thought that this kind of king is more likely to fight with the army against invasions, so he would know more about the common soldiers life.

The King looked at the students and smiled before he started talking increasing the worry of most of the students as they heard about the cliché story of a Demon Lord's attack and the need for a fighting chance. Ren was listening in in the off chance to know more about this world, but he was barely paying attention as the more important factor was the status.

Ren finally looked over at the status to find anything unique.

Whilst Ren didn't know if his stats were high, the 1 luck seemed like God was trying to play a trick on him. Even so, Ren agreed that his luck was terrible as the third line was one he checked over and over. He was the Demon Lord. The same being that they were summoned to fight.
