4 Accepting the proposal and negotiation (1)

Ranga thought, [just to save the royal family from extinction I have to leave my life and come here? Is it really worth it? Okay first thing is first. let me secure my return way.]

-Let me ask you this, miss Chaya. Can I go back to my world?

Chaya's heart skipped a bit with this question. But she maintained her usual smile and answered,

-Like I said before, if you don't want to stay here, I shall undone what has happened to you. As you already know of reverse summoning magic, I shall use it to send you back.

-Oh, can it be used anytime?

-Unfortunately no, as it is between two different world. Certain constellations are needed to be in certain position for the magic to work between different worlds. We have something between 23 to 24 hours before this period end. To ensure your safe departure, it is better to give me answer in 19-20 hours, be it it positive and negative.

-Wait, what do you mean by that? Why would there be a need of departure if I answer positively?

Chaya smiled brightly at this answer thinking the situation turning for the better. She answered.

She answered,

-I plan to send you back regardless of the answer in this time frame and summon you back in 20 days if you are to accept my proposal as you need to say good bye to your loved ones.

-Ohh it can be used that frequently?!

-Not at all, if we miss the time frame in 20 days, the next time frame shall appear in 50 years. So, we can see that we are lucky in this aspect. So, Mr Ranga, would you please consider the path of marrying me seriously? After marriage, I shall try meet your demands as long as it is not contradictory to interest of the kingdom.

Now, that is back way ticket is secured, he starts to think pros and cons of this matter. Human mind is funny thing. If you are told you cannot go back, you want to go back immediately, but if you are told you can go back, you start to think what can I gain by staying. He is sure that he can figure out the inter-dimension teleportation with enough research but he cannot guarantee that he shall figure it out near future. He lacks man power here and lacks research material over back in earth.

First of all, if he were to say yes, he would have leave his father and mother behind until he figures out inter-dimensional teleportation, on the ground he would be able to figure it out. Otherwise it's a bye bye for fifty years. Even though his father would be alive but his mother would most probably not.

Secondly he has a duty to continue his family bloodline as the only child of the patriarch. But that can be solved if his parents takes another child who are already at 40 years of age. (Author: Facepalm! Looks like our MC has a habit of delving into his parents married life...)

Now, pros. Firstly, he finds this woman in front of him appealing who is older than him by 7 or 8 years. He gets to marry such hot babe.

Secondly, he doesn't have any attachment left back there. Actually he was about to commit a crime of super heavy weight. He doesn't have a lover. He doesn't even have someone he likes back there. Right now he doesn't even have a job. His has option of joining the army of the kingdom he detest (on the ground that he doesn't kill his brother's murderer when he goes back), joining the mercenary service which he doesn't like or look after family business and research magic which he finds boring.

So, staying here and marrying her would be a better choice if he can figure out inter-dimensional teleportation and frequent between two world. She even said she would meet his demand as long as it is not harmful for the kingdom. It does seem very tempting offer. But wait! Isn't he going to be embroiled in politics as the prince consort which he detest. He is a military man, a trainer, a magician, a soldier, a general... but not a politician. There is no way he would be able to sit back and watch silently.

After pondering for a while Ranga asks,

-Let's assume for now I accept your proposal and get married with you. As the prince consort, I would become part of the royal family, right? What privileges and obligations shall I have as I the prince consort?

Giving an enchanting smile Chaya said,

-You are worrying too much. Even though, I am 45th to ascend the throne, I am only third woman who became sovereign of this kingdom. Among my previous two predecessor, one let her younger brother to ascend the throne after her who was still child at the time of her enthronement and other nominated a child from the branch family with very strong kinship as the crown prince. Both of them didn't get married. So, you would be the first prince consort in history. But rest assured. As you can see, I am only the third queen. So, it is clear that this is patriarchal society. The head of the house is man and it is woman virtue to be compliant. So, as I said, I shall try to meet your wishes and demands as far as possible.

Ranga hearing this went into deep thought, [Okay, what the hell is this? She is summoning a person from different world just to preserve the bloodline that is with the cost of be compliant to him. This doesn't make any sense. What does she get out of this deal? I refuse to believe she is solely sacrificing herself for the sake of kingdom. She is a politician. She must have a hidden motive behind all this. ] He asked,

-Okay miss, may I ask, in the instance that I refuse your proposal, what would happen to your marriage?

Chaya gave a wry smile and said,

-Then I would have choose a person from noble families of the kingdom whose ancestor was from royal family.

Ranga thought [oh, she has marriage candidate in the kingdom as well. That's is expected though. The otherwise would the abnormal situation]. He asked,

-And these marriage candidates, they have great-grandparents in the royal family, I assume?

Chaya decilned,

-Unfortunately no. If such thick kinship remained then it wouldn't have been a problem anymore. They have great great grandparents in the royal family.

Ranga thought, [Wait, this is contradictory. I am the sixth generation while there are candidate available who are from fifth generation. I may have thick bloodline, but she didn't know that until she summoned me. She herself said it's a lucky surprise for her. So, she has her own motive for summoning me. What can it be? Wait, all along I have been thinking from my perspective. Let's give it a try from hers. She is the third queen in a patriarchal society. So a lot of nobles are dissatisfied with it. As far as I understand nobility there is another faction who sees her a short way to power, the ambitious group. So, the marriage candidates are like that most probably. So, she is trying prevent that from happen. To do that she summons a person form different world. That way, the summon person wont have a family here. So, he won't have a reason to directly go against her even if he decides to exert his political power. But if it is someone from this world, best case scenario the kingdom shall be divided into two factions in shadow while in worst case a civil war won't be surprising. The whole kingdom can fall if there is foreign interference. So, she wants a husband who doesn't do anything but child making in fear of loosing her power. In other words she wants a sponger. Let's get sure first ]. He asked again,

-Okay miss Chaya, not an official front but as a person what you would expect from me if I was accept your proposal?

Giving a smile she said,

-You would leave behind your family, your life, your culture and value, your world, just to marry me. How can I request anything more from you? I only request your cooperation in leaving behind descendant for the royal family. That's all

[So, she truly wants a sponger. Man, this is disappointing. Then again she has right to be paranoid as the queen. As long as she don't cross certain line, it can be said that she is thinking for the sake of kingdom... and for herself. She can be given a pass mark as ruler... with so far I seen of her. No, it's too early to say that. But let's consider what can I gain from her. If I were to become only a sponger I am not in it. Wait, I have an idea... though it's a long shot, I wont loose anything trying. Let's see miss, how greedy you are? ]

-Miss, can I talk with you in private?

First Chaya had a confused look, but when she realized his intention she had a surprised and blushed face. She said with hesitation,

-This, Mr Ranga.... I am afraid... won't be.....

Ranga slowly said with a serious face,

-What I going to speak about is state level secret from my side. So, trust me, it is really worth it.

Seeing his serious face for the first time, she started pondering. She is confident enough to protect herself if this scrawny handsome looking man tries anything which she doubt he would as she is only way his way back home. And when she heard state level secret she felt curious. From his bearing she can see the man in front of him must be a noble in other world. Though his etiquette is off here and there, it should be cultural difference. She decided to at least hear him out. She said to the guards,

-Leave us.

The soldiers protested,

-But your majesty.....

This time with a strict tone she said,

-Leave.

-Yes, your majesty.

Saying that the four guards bowed and left the room.

Ranga said,

-Are you sure no one is eaves-dropping?

Hearing the question she let out a sigh. Then she lifted her index finger, and started to chant in a language that sounds like whispering yet not whispering. Surprising Ranga could understand this language.

After chanting was over a little mana came out of her and turned into faint space ripple and enveloped both of them.

-This is a silence spell of space magic. No sound can get out of it until I dispel the barrier. Now we have absolute privacy. Tell me about what you want to speak about. I hope it is worth the effort you made me put into.

Without answering Ranga stood up from his sit. Seeing that Chaya went on a defensive, ready to cast a fire spell if he tries anything funny, but his next action surprised her even more. Ranga got onto one knee with his right hand on his chest and left hand on his back. Then he said,

-Ranga Agni, son of Shamal Agni, grand child of Peet Agni, great grand child of Sheta Agni, great great grand child of Kalia Agni, Great great great grand child of Kelem Agni, greets her majesty Chaya Agni. Long live Omobaha. I offer my deepest apology for hiding the truth that I was already aware that this my ancestor's home.

Chaya has a dumbfounded expression at this. When she woke up from her stupor, she said,

-You may rise.

Ranga stood up but didn't sit. Seeing that she spoke,

-Sit.

Ranga sat back. She asked in a stiff voice,

-Care to explain what this is all about?

-Yes your majesty. As you can first ancestor Kelem Agni was never angry for his banishment for some reason. He taught his descendant about this world and magic. Actually he was the first to wield magic in our world. I don't what happened exactly, but he hid the reason for his banishment and left an instruction that if any descendant of his were to summon back here, we are to help with our utmost except for our life. Too unfortunate he and his children are no longer alive. We could ask him now the reason if he were.

Chaya frowned at this statement and asked,

-What do you mean by that?

-I mean, My great grand father still alive even though he retired from from worldly affairs.

-He should be around 100 years old.

-Yes, he is.

-Wow, that's surprising. In our world, that is way above the life expectancy. Anyway, let's get back on topic at hand.

-Yes, you see, our world has quite different view towards magic. I observed you need to chant incantation to cast a spell, am I right?

-Yes, that a correct observation.

-May I ask, is there any exception?

-No, there is not. No matter how small or big, weak or strong the spell is, it requires an incantation.

-But you see, in our world, we don't need it. Watch this.

Ranga held up his right hand forward open his palm. concentrated mana then first water started to gather until it forms a ball of size of a fist. Then took form of miniature Chaya sitting on a throne and lastly it froze and turn into a ice sculpture of Chaya. Ranga held it in his hand then placed it on the table in front of them. Chaya mind went blank. She couldn't believe what she saw. What she knew from birth is a lie! Due to incantation, magic could not be used in melee fight except for some super exceptional skilled battle mage who could fight and simultaneously cast spell. Only real application in battle is large scale destruction spell which requires multiple mages casting it from back line. It sounds easy but in reality casting a spell requires right amount mana supply, right imagination and right incantation; missing even one of three would result in failure of the casting. It is like writing 3 different things at once. Without incantation the difficulty would decrease tremendously. So the number of strategic level battle-mage would increase by several fold, as people who can do two things at once is not that rare. If this information were to get out, all other nation would gang up on her kingdom, just to get hold of incantation-less magic. This is truly a state level secret. She felt cold sweat on her back due to nervousness. She couldn't even imagine how dangerous this man in front of her is. If he wish to annex her, he just need to sell this information to one of the 3 guardian clans, then wealth and power is just waiting for him. With enough scheming he can become king if he wishes.
