16 Jean's Admonishing

"Lisa! You are finally back! I was waiting in front of the teleport waypoint for a long time, you know? What happened?" Jean's worried face was what first greeted her when she entered the room.

She also quickly noticed the blue-haired man sitting in a sofa to the side.

"Jean, I suppose you already heard from Kaeya. Did he remember anything?"

"Not a thing." Who responded was him.

"And Noelle?"

"Noelle? Was she summoned, too?" Jean hadn't seen Noelle all day, but that was normal.

"And Amber?" Lisa continued.

"Oh right, Amber wanted to talk to me about something but I delayed it since you were missing." Jean admitted.

"Well, bring her here later. Now, listen to me, I brought someone who claims to remember it." Lisa was very serious.

"What?! Really?" The both of them were shocked.

"Yes. I brought him here with me. He also told me what he remembered, which seemed to be all of the last three hours or so. But he has more secrets, so I entrust him to you, Kaeya. This is of utter importance. Bring him here, I left him in the library." Lisa gravely said.

"Acknowledged." Without waiting for Jean's take, he left through the door to fetch some of the nearby senior knights.

"Wait, Lisa! What are you doing?"Jean didn't agree with such a forceful method.

"Jean, you have to understand that this matter concerns all of us, we have to understand more about the situation at all costs."

"But we can't just force someone to speak!" Jean pinched the beginning of her nose.

"We have no other choice. He didn't seem willing to talk on his own." Lisa.

"Lisa, I've always told you that this is not how we do things in here. There is no need for such aggressive measures. What if he is offended and refuses to say anything?" Jean was angry.

"Look, I've dealt with him, I think I know how to get information out of him. Besides, I only told Kaeya to bring him here. What are you angry about?" Lisa pouted.

"Don't think I don't understand the underlying meanings of your words just because I don't react to them. If he is offended by any chance, I will prohibit your afternoon tea for a whole month, while transferring more work to your desk!" Jean went straight for what hurt.

Lisa paled a little, but never changed her prideful attitude. Soon, Kaeya reentered the room.

"I've brought him here."

Both Lisa and Jean secretly sighed in relief.

"Before letting him in, let's discuss what happened today." Lisa intervened.

"Very well. You best give me a proper explanation for your actions, Lisa."

Time passed as both women discussed with one another, the subject eventually shifting entirely, sometimes discussing policies, sometimes discussing right or wrong, and also plans for possible situations.

They didn't pay heed to the knock on the door throughout their conversation.

Eventually, Jean decided she had enough. While pinching her nose bridge again, she called out:

"Enough! Kaeya, just bring him in."

"Um? Oh, alright."

After Sai left, Jean glared menacingly at Lisa before asking with gritted teeth:

"You didn't let him rest or eat?"

"H—he was greatly exaggerating the whole situation. We stopped on the way and he ate an apple—"

"An apple? You gave him ONE apple after all that?"

"If he was that hungry, he would have grabbed more after we left the clearing."

"The boy was clearly starving!" Jean contested. Lisa flinched.

"No—"

"And he was exhausted as well! He clearly doesn't have as much stamina as you. How tactless!"

"…" Lisa realized she had underestimated her friend's value for human rights.

A mistake that would cost her dearly.
