8 Chapter nine

"What are you exactly planning on doing Rose?" Anna asked rushing to match her friend's footsteps. After Rose had decided to take her revenge on Chase something in the air had seemed to change. Not in a toxic way but in a way that could make her worry that Rose would only end up embarrassing herself and making the situation even worse for herself.

"Nothing. Just to have the greatest time of my life and show that asshole that he'll have to try harder to get under my skin and that if he succeeds it's only because I let him." She answered continuing her cat walk. She looked like a runway model only short but it suited her. Giving her that cute look of someone who's trying to get mad but only coming off as a smiling koala bear.

"Okay. That's not very bad. As long as you have fun because that's what we're here to do." Anna reminded and Rose stopped to look at her in the eye.

"It's the only way to do things and if I can make him feel bad at the same time then lucky me." She said smiling.

"And yes I know you're right. I'll have fun and no regrets." She reassured and Anna smiled in relief.

"So what are we doing today?" She asked looking at the guide they had received the day before upon arrival.

"It seems we're playing get to know you games with our teams." Rose said and started looking around for their team. She just hoped she had a good memory because spotting them might be difficult.

"There's David." Anna said waving back at a smirking David with a smile of her own.

"Do you have a crush on him?" Rose asked looking at Anna with that look you give your best friend when you figure out that she has a crush.

"No I don't. I just like appreciating his good looks besides the guy is a jerk." Anna said defensively causing Rose to open her mouth wider and let out a quietly hushed squeal.

"Oh you are in so much trouble." She said hitting Anna's arm. Why? She couldn't explain. It's just something girls do.

"I am so not. I barely know him. We just went to school together in like junior high." She defended again giving more information in the process.

"You went to high school with him?" Rose asked shocked.

"Yes but we hardly interacted. As you can see he's very hot so he was busy being popular and breaking hearts. I was busy blending in the walls." Anna said sad at the memories. Rose could relate. Not that way exactly since she had gone to an all girls high school but she knew what it was like to not be noticed.

"I'm really sorry Anna but look at what that got you?" Rose said looking at the bright side of things as always.

"What exactly did that get me?" Anna asked convinced that there was no good side to this story.

"His attention." Rose said and Anna scoffed.

"I don't want his attention." She said before walking away.

"What the heck just happened?" Rose thought to herself. One minute they were gushing about how cute David was and the next Anna was storming off towards him. Oh hell! She was storming off towards him. Rose realized and at that point everything else ceased to matter as she rushed to her friend. Who knew what was going on in her mind. She could end up doing something very destructive.

"Anna wait!" Rose called out waving her arm. And again she couldn't explain why she was doing it.

"What is it?" Anna asked turning around confused.

"Nothing." Rose lied all out of breath. She needed to exercise some more.

"You sure?" Anna asked giving her the 'I know you're lying' look.

"Yeah." Rose answered her voice getting a bit high and shrilly.

"Just wanted to walk with you. You know how teenage camps can be." She lied again and took Anna's bicep in her hands before starting to walk.

"Okay but trust me even if I hate David for being a jerk to me in high school, I wouldn't do anything stupid." She said and Rose smiled.

"Sure." She answered and shook her head. Girls.

"Do you know what that jerk did?" Anna stopped and turned to ask.

"What did he do?" Rose asked a bit excited.

"He kissed me on prom night." Anna said tears welling up in her eyes.

"What?" Rose asked eyes wide. She wasn't expecting that reply.

"He came up to me when I was about to leave and kissed me on prom night. Prom kisses are supposed to be special and he kissed me." Anna said now almost crying and then all at once she stopped and laughed wiping the stray tears.

"What happened? Was it your first kiss?" She asked knowing just how important first times were.

"It was my first kiss and he came out of nowhere that night. I didn't have a date and just when I'd asked my mom to come get me, he rushed after me and kissed me on the lips." She said and Rose nodded sadly. There's nothing like losing your first time to someone you are not even dating and much less without giving your consent first.

"What happened afterwards?" Rose asked. What happens afterwards always matters the most.

"He just walked away and pretended he didn't know me for the rest of the year. We just met yesterday and now we're acting like nothing happened. You know how painful that is?" She asked more tears coming out.

"I'm so sorry Anna. Did you have feelings for him back then?" Rose asked fully convinced that there was more to this than she was getting.

"Feelings?" Anna asked laughing sadly and wiping her tears.

"I was in love with him Rose. I have been in love with him since I first saw him when we were five but he never saw me. He never saw me Rose." Anna said and Rose hugged her. This was obviously a very intense moment for her.

"I'm so sorry Anna but did you ever tell him how you felt?" Rose asked and Anna looked up.

"Are you crazy? Why the hell would I do that?" She asked shocked like Rose had just said something totally out of context.

"Uhm because you are like in love with him." Rose said in a duh tone.

"Uhm hell no. It's a rule that the guy has to ask you out first." Anna said and Rose shook her head.

"That is so passed by time. If we wait for men to make the first move we'll be waiting for a long time or forever. Men are stupid and they don't even know what they want most of the time." Rose said thinking of all her loser boyfriends.

"So I should go and tell him?" Anna asked and Rose shook her head. It didn't always go that way which is why she had had her heart broken multiple times.

"Not exactly. Let us first find out if he has feelings for you so that we can save you the heart ache." Rose said and they walked to their team. Operation "make David know he's in love with Anna" commencing.
