Unit 7?

"Sarah, right? What did you do to him?" The female Demon Hunter demanded, her eyes narrowing.

Sarah's hands shook as she clutched her chest. She felt like a mouse trapped by two hungry cats. She had always seen them from afar but never imagined meeting them like this.

"I didn't do anything, I swear!" Sarah protested, her voice cracking.

"Then how did he come back to life?" the lady asked, her voice rising in disbelief.

"I don't know, I don't know!" Sarah repeated, her tears spilling over.

"Calm down, Lara," the other guy said softly, placing a hand on his partner's shoulder.

Jake was the Mr. Cool and Calm guy of the Unit 7 Demon Hunter Force in Manhattan. He rarely spoke, always valuing his alone time over unnecessary noise and chatter, but when he did, he was always on point.

"Don't… Don't tell me that, Jake. We need to understand what just happened. That's something… almost impossible." Lara said, her voice trembling.

Lara was a fiery and fierce girl who had a reputation for being tough and aloof, but Sarah could tell that she had a soft spot for the man who lay on the bed in the other room, strapped to tubes and beeping machines. The man who had died, but somehow came back to life.

"I know… I know. Just need you to take a few breaths okay?" Jake said to Lara before turning his attention to Sarah.

"Did he say anything to you?" Jake asked, curiously.

"He tried to, but I couldn't understand him. He was mumbling something, but it didn't make sense." Sarah said, honestly.

"What did he sound like?" Lara asked, suspiciously.

"I don't know, he sounded... foreign. Like he had an accent or a different language." Sarah said, vaguely.

"Foreign? What do you mean by foreign?" Lara asked, skeptically.

"I don't know, okay? I don't know anything!" Sarah snapped, losing her patience.

"Hey, calm down, Sarah. We're just trying to help." Jake said, soothingly.

"Help? How can you help? You don't even know what's going on. You are clueless!" Sarah shouted, hysterically.

She broke down in tears, sobbing uncontrollably. She felt like she was losing her mind, and her grip on reality. She wished that none of this had ever happened and that he had stayed dead.

Lara's nails dug into her palms as she watched Sarah cry. How dare she be the one to witness his resurrection? She had loved him, but he had barely noticed her. He had always been too busy with his missions, his secrets, his mysteries.

And now, he was alive again, she should have been there. Maybe, just maybe this would have been her perfect opportunity. But she wasn't there. Instead, it was Sarah who was with him when he woke up.

She glared at Sarah, who was still crying on the floor. She wanted to slap her, to vent her anger, frustration and all she was feeling on her. But she also wanted to hug her, to comfort her, to share her pain. She was confused, conflicted, and hurt.

Jake sighed and walked over to Sarah. He knelt down beside her and gently lifted her up. He wrapped his arms around her and whispered in her ear.

"Sarah, listen to me. You're not alone. We're here to help you. We're not going to hurt you. We just want to know what happened. Please, trust us."

Sarah felt his warmth and his breath on her neck. She looked into his eyes and saw kindness and compassion. She felt a flicker of hope and a surge of guilt. She didn't deserve his sympathy. She didn't deserve his trust.

She pulled away from him and shook her head. She wiped her tears and tried to compose herself.

"I'm sorry, Jake. I'm sorry, Lara. I can't tell you anything. I can't explain what happened. Because... because I don't know myself. I don't know anything."

She looked at them with a pleading expression. She hoped they would believe her. She hoped they would let her go. She hoped they would forget about her and focus on their colleague. She hoped she could just forget about everything.

But she knew it was too late.

Meanwhile, in the ward…

The man in question woke up with a splitting headache as if someone had smashed his skull with a hammer. He groaned and opened his eyes, only to see a blur of white and red. He blinked and tried to focus, but the pain was too much. He felt a cold sweat on his forehead and a metallic taste in his mouth.

He tried to move, but he realized he was tied to a bed, surrounded by wires and machines. He heard a faint beeping sound and a voice in his ear.

[Finishing Synchronization Process...]

He frowned and tried to remember what had happened. He was dead… at least supposed to be. He had a vague memory of a woman, a goddess, who had appeared before him. She had offered him a deal, a chance to live again, to get his revenge, to get his love back.

He had agreed, without hesitation. He had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. He hated Zeus, the All-Father, who had stripped him of all he had. He had loved Shiva, who had sacrificed herself to save him. He had sworn to avenge them, to make Zeus pay, to bring Shiva back.

He felt a surge of power, a warmth in his chest, a light in his eyes. He felt alive, for the first time in a long time.

[Synchronization Complete. Welcome to the Lust System, Host.]

He heard the voice again, this time louder and clearer. He felt a shock in his brain and a flash of images in his mind.

He saw a screen, which contained different tabs - menu, status, quest, shop, skill, reward, and punishment.

'So this is the tool Delilah had mentioned she would give him to aid him?' he asked himself as he tried to make sense of what was going on.

He nodded in agreement as he heard the voice again, this time in his head.
