“I got another dog.”

“Because you have two neighbors looking for exercise?” Edison squatted to greet them both

“My father. Dad and a neighbor. We need more of everything I bought yesterday.”

Unlike Monty, the chocolate lab had no manners at all. He’d already grabbed a fluffy, squeaky pig from the shelf, one he immediately dropped to bury his face in Edison’s crotch faster than Stone had the day after Thanksgiving. When Edison turned around, trying to untangle himself from two leashes, Stone got a tingle, remembering his mouth where the dog’s was now.

“Does he have a name?”

“Python,” Stone said. “Because of his huge tail. It looks like a snake, right?”

“Monty and Python. I get it.” The dog was finally calm, as Edison took turns rubbing his and Monty’s ears. “You look like a python to me, too.”
