99 Explaining
Jason stood before Charlie who was looking at him in a menacing manner. He said slowly
"you disappear for a few days, get some of us worried that we just lost a recruit and now you come with a pack of wolves like nothing happened?"
Jason couldn't look at Charlie directly in the eyes, he knew he was guilty and anyone in Charlie's position would be worried. Besides that pack of wolves, we right behind him and were patently watching Jason get lectured by Charlie.
Charlie noticed that Jason wasn't taking anything he said to heart to he just gave and sighed
"Look Jason I get their your familiars, but I'm not sure if we can even take care of the wolves right now. "
Jason begged
"look I just need space for them to live in, I can handle the rest"
Charlie gave another loud sigh
"fine, there is an empty storeroom next to the blue and green barracks that you can use."
Jason pumped his fist in joy
"thank you sir"
"Yeah, yeah just warning you though we've been told that our final trial is coming up again and it that it's going to be different from any other trial."
Jason thanked Charlie for his advice and brought the wolves to the storeroom.
"BOSS, WHAT DID THE OTHER HOOMAN SAY?"
Oh yeah, Jason had totally forgotten that the wolves didn't understand human language. Jason replied to Jeffrey
"they gave you guys a place to live in"
All to the wolves celebrated at Jason's words. It was official, they had finally gotten a home. Jason lead them to the storage room. They hiked up the hill the barracks were on and Jason could see the wolves' new home. He hadn't noticed it before even though it was between the two barracks but it was a fairly large warehouse. Enough for all of the wolves to live in. Jason was now worried about the condition of the warehouse itself, he didn't want the wolves to live in a dirty place after all that they had been through.
Jason and the pack reached the warehouse and Jason opened the door slowly. He peeked in, bracing himself for the worst.
Well, it actually wasn't that bad, it was empty and dusty but there was nothing too messy here. It just needed to be swept a little and everything would be fine. The warehouse was large, about 40 meters wide and 20 meters tall. There was a ladder that lead to another mini floor, and windows all around the building lighting the entire place in sunlight.
Jaso turned to the pack behind him and opened the door wide enough for them all to see.
"well, this is your room, it may be shabby but we will fix it up later."
The wolves didn't seem to mind and streaming into the warehouse. The floor was cold and barren so Jason had an idea.
He took out the rabbit fur that he had accumulated on the beginning journey and laid in on the floor. He easily had enough to cover the entire thing so before he knew it the warehouse now had a furry floor and was now conferral to rest and to sleep on. It was still shabby in Jason's opinion and he promised that he would find a way to make better furnishings for the wolves.
Boops suggested something
'Hey, Jason why don't you use the building subsystem?'
"I need and explanation Boops"
'um basically if you invest enough points you can build stuff instantly, yeah that's basically it it does come with cool building tools in the shop but that's it.'
"how much?"
'10,000 points'
"We are saving up for that then"
'wait, what? I thought you wanted to attraction aura skill first?'
"ehh that can wait for later, I think the building subsystem is more important"
'fine you currently have 6,345 points though so it might take you a while to get them'
"wait since when did I get over 6,000 points?"
'heh, your basketball skills became a bit popular in the school'
Jason grinned at the unexpected increase in points.
"I'm definitely going back to school later for more"
'heh, get dem points bro'
Jason snapped back to attention, the wolves were settling into their new home. Most of them snuggled to the rabbit fur that Jason laid down. Others were looking for suitable spots to rest and out of the corner of his eye, Jason saw Jeffrey chewing on one of the rabbit furs.
The alpha wolf walked up to him.
"so hooman what are you going to do after this?"
Jason thought for a moment, taking into account everything that he was told.
"I think ill just start training, it looks like I'm going to do a trial later so ill need to get ready"
The alpha wolf nodded
"Alright, ill use this place as our base, but we will go and keep on exterminating goblins"
'alright, do you guys need my help in anything?"
The alpha wolf laughed and turned to Jason
"it's fine we can handle the hunting, in the end, we still are stronger than you"
Jason accepted the alpha wolfs decision.
"alright ill tell the rest of the trainees about you guys"
The alpha wolf nodded to Jason and then walked back to the pack.
"thank you, Hooman"
Jason left the pack to their own devices and went to the cafeteria. It was bright and sunny outside. Jason and the pack had run through the night to get here. And when they finally did it was almost morning. So Jason decided to just pull through the rest of the night and told Boops to tell the twins. The twins were a bit upset that they didn't get the chance to eat Jason's food but they accepted it and wished Jason luck.
Jason could hear noises from the gym next to the cafeteria. It seems that people were training early in the morning. Jason walked over to see about 30 people diligently working out or sparing with each other. Jason spotted his teammates doing group exercises. He jogged over to them.
Colby spotted Jason first, he walked up to Jason and clamped his shoulders looking at Jason dead in the eye. Mark, Lyle and Ethan walked up after Colby all 3 of them asked the same question.
"where were you?"
So Jason sat all of them down and explained how a giant monster gorilla launched him a few miles away from the camp. How he landed in a den of snakes, then got held captive by some wolves and. Then the wolves attacked a goblin camp, which included a goblin leader and he got accepted by them. Then soon he became the co-leader.
Jason cut off parts the guys didn't have to know like the tragic backstory of the wolves or how he could speak their language.
After summing up everything to the team they all looked at each other. Mark and Ethan shook their heads simultaneously, Lyle facepalmed and Colby didn't react at all. Lyle was the first to word his frustration
"so your telling me, while we were about to do a fricking camp-wide search you actually were just hanging out with wolves and killing small fry goblins?"
"If you word it that way, yes"
Lyle clenched his hands. He then walked to a rack and tossed Jason a wooden sword.
"get in your stance Jason, prepare to get beaten up"
Jason retreated with the wooden sword in hand
"hold up, aren't you supposed to be training me?"
Lyle gave off an evil grin
"Yeah, this is all part of training"
Jason looked around for help. there was no way he could even come remotely close to beating Lyle, wait actually didn't he just go through a large powerup session. He might be able to hold his ground. So he got up a sword in hand, he was going to show Lyle why you should respect your elders.
With his sword facing Lyle he prepared to fight he remembered all of the stats he had gotten during the small adventure... shoot he had only put stat points into charm didn't he.
Jason looked at Lyle who's grin had become a full Chesire grin after seeing Jason's stance. Jason's legs already started to tremble. He looked around for help. Mark and Ethan had somehow gotten wooden swords in the split second he had faced Lyle and were dueling. And Colby was nowhere to be found and Jason couldn't even see where Charlie was.
Jason looked back at Lyle. He was steadily approaching Jason savoring the feeling he crept towards Jason. Jason backed up as fast as he could but Lyle only matched Jason's speed and more.
Lyle held out his sword, the tip only a few inches away from Jason's chest and he whispered quietly
"en guard"
Jason truly only had one word to describe his situation, one shining description to fit everything that was currently happening to him.
"frick"
