Daily life

Breakfast ended and Jason walked out of the cafeteria/gym. The green barrack members were nowhere to be seen. It was a bright new day, well it was still morning so it was about to become a bright new day. The sun was barely peeking out behind the mountain, showering the entire camp in a lovely morning glow.

Jason now was able to wander around the campus doing anything he wanted, the same went for the rest of the trainees. They didn't have an instructor to tell them what to do. Charlie explained to him that this only happened because the instructors were needed urgently somewhere else and wouldn't be able to help them. When Jason asked when Charlie answered the day they got here they left for the urgent commission.

Jason could tell that most of the trainees were a bit confused about everything, some just wandered aimlessly around looking up into the sky wondering what to do, But the majority of them under the lead of the temporary leaders in the barracks went the trials to complete them.

Charlie, who was the leader for the blue barracks invited Jason to join them in training. But Jason didn't think he would be able to fit in with those people who could easily snap him in two for working out so he opted out.

Jason checked his information a bit closer, the average level of the trainees was about level 50. But the stats they had..... their stats were crazy. The stats varied from person to person. But Jason saw a strength stat at 100, an agility stat nearing 90. So many high stats that would only be associated with boss monsters and leaders of forces.

One thing that was consistent was that the more time a person was on this campus the stronger they would become. Like one of the newbies that came was just a regular level 50 with above-average stats. Then compare them with a person who had been a trainee for a few years thanks to the mishap they had on their trial.

Yeah, Jason didn't think to stay as a trainee was a punishment for them, it was probably a blessing if they got to be here at the training camp a bit longer.

Jason thought to himself and asked what he was going to do today. For some reason, though he felt like he was forgetting something important. He mentally checked off the wolves since they should do fine with the green barrack members' offerings. Maybe it was that large goblin camp that was probably near them somewhere. Jason looked back at the gym windows to see a few people diligently swinging their wooden swords or doing one-handed handstand pushups.

Eh, it was probably nothing, Jason thought to himself and walked away. Today he was going to the intelligence trail he though. Charlie explained the trial further when they walked back from it.

Apparently whoever made the trail left behind an enormous collection of books and wisdom in the illusionary space. It soon became a hub for mage students and seekers of knowledge. That was why Boops had gotten some much crap from one scanning session. Not like Jason and Boops were complaining though. Well, it was a pain to categorize but still, information was information.

So the library was like a starting point for the intelligence trial. The little labyrinth also was a mini-trial but Charlie felt like it wasn't needed and it seemed like the towers never ended as one of the blue members got to the 600th floor and it was still math problems and mazes.

Jason felt a cold shiver go down his spine as he thought of going through that nightmarish experience he had 600 times.

Jason started to walk over. Now with Boops the mighty map keeper he was able to find his way easily. Jason walked and he hit a hill. Jason hadn't noticed it before but the hills were kinda pretty with trees at the foot of it. And a nice green gradient from the darker grass and trees to the light sun-dried grass on the top that swayed in the wind. Jason did want to complain though, whoever made the path, the path that went the top of the hill and the winded down like a snake instead of a straight line down. Actually satan.

It took Jason about 20 minutes to go past all of the hills, he had to next go through a small patch of the forest. What was convenient about the forest though was that what seemed to be a path made out of trees was laid in front of him. Trees were on the left and right. Like somebody had chopped his hand in the middle to make the trail. There was no actual path at this point but anyone who had eyes could easily see the path.

Jason emerged from the forest after traveling a bit and he saw one last hill in front of him. Since he was at the foot of the hill, when he lifted his head up he could briefly glimpse the top of the tower.

The grass on the hills was usually long and reached Jason's knees but now the grass was kept clean and orderly. The entire hill was kept fresh and was definitely cared for. And Jason started the trug up the hill.

Maybe it was Charlie's presence or something but Jason didn't remember the climb up to be this hard. It felt like somebody was pushing against his chest constantly and he needed to breathe twice as hard to get any oxygen into his body.

Jason finally reached the tower, he had to stop sometimes to take a break. But he did it. He opened the entrance and a bright light covered him.

Charlie said that most of the mage students wouldn't even try the actual intelligence trail and would just fail the trial before it even started.

Jason opened his eyes to the library that he had seen before. Again bookshelves were all around him and it seemed to stretch endlessly. Jason looked around for any books that he would be interested in. One book that Jason saw interested Boops

"The underworld of Herdita and the Belusian kingdom explained, Boops you sure?"

'yeah even if it's outdated, it's really useful for Perseus, ill send it to him and with his permission ill even download it in his brain'

"ah my condolences to him"

'truly'

Jason kept on walking down the isles. Anything that he saw that interested him went straight into the inventory to be scanned. Boops had figured out a faster way to scan Books then by just using Jason's eyes instead Boops used Jason's inventory which and scan the book. The only bad thing was that Jason would need to put all of the Books back. But the library had the ability to sort the books itself. So Jason just needed to but the Books back on a random shelf and it would disappear and appear in its rightful place.

So they kept on going around. Jason saw an entire shelf full of mana manipulation books. And he just emptied the entire thing. The swordsmen, dagger, and bows ailes were also cleaned. Jason in a very small corner found a few books about treasure hunting. The notifications stated that he only got a few points of intelligence but that was fine

[+1 intelligence]

[you have learned a bit about mana manipulation]

[you now understand a bit about treasure hunting]

[+1 intelligence]

[you know a bit about dagger fighting]

[you have learned about rose knight swordsmanship 3/20]

[you have learned about the underworld in Herdita and the Belusian kingdom]

[you have learned 20 good positions to circulate mana]

[you have gained insight into the secret forest]

[you can have learned a bit about the myths]

[you have learned a bit about negotiation and public speaking]

[you have learned about.....]

Yeah, there was so much that Jason had put into his inventory. Boops was franticly trying to sort out everything but he gave up and just went to help Jason chose which books he should get.

One of them caught his eye. There on a wooden stand unlike the rest of the books that were shelves neatly. Was a single book. It had a few words on it, but those few words made Boops's day happy and complete.

"tentacle magic elementary, hey Boops what's that?"

'nothing you need to know now Jason, that will be for when your older, but for now you. will. get. that. book."

"wait what, why?"

'get. it. now'

"Okay?"

So Jason chucked the book into his inventory with a Boops who was laughing with glee in his head. Jason could see Boops but he could tell that he was grinning in a not so kind way. Little did Jason know that that moment would change many people's lives. In a good way or a bad way, nobody would know.
