1 An encounter with the boss

Exactly at six in the morning, Mark suddenly woke up from sleep because of the bad dream he was having.

Mark shaked his head, got off from the bed and headed towards the bathroom.

He stood under the shower remembering the dream he had.

The dream seemed so real that Mark woke up frightened thinking he was already dead.

Mark came back to his memories, took a deep breath and finished his bath.

Mark got out of the bathroom, picked up his towel from where it was hung on the wardrobe in his bedroom and cleaned the dripping water off his body.

He went to the kitchen to get himself a coffee.

when Mark got to the kitchen, he saw the newspaper man waiting to give him the newspaper of the day at the door.

This was the usual routine of the newspaper man.

But before Mark got out, he realized that the newspaper man had already dropped the newspaper at the front door and got on his bike.

And then he shouted "Good morning, Mr. Benjamin," Mr. Benjamin the newspaper man waved his hand on his bike.

Mark picked up the newspaper, and went back inside as he flipped through it before sitting in the sitting room.

He heard the coffee machine beeping that the coffee was ready.

Mark drank his coffee, and went back to the room to get dressed for the day before he would be late for work today, knowing that Mr. Andrew the boss would not take things easy and find it funny with him.

Sometimes Mark wonders, if he had really offended Mr. Andrew the boss somewhere before, he couldn't remember such.

But all Mark See is that he has never disrespected Mr. Andrew before.

Mark shrugs it off thinking that one day he and Mr. Andrew the boss will be friends one day.

Mark came to the front of the mirror after fully clothed, to check out his outfit with a smile that crept into his face.

After pleasing himself and believing that he was handsome enough, but at once the smile vanished after Mark remembered that he was going to say goodbye to the world very soon.

Mark walked out of the room, picked up his laptop bag and car key.

Mark got out of the apartment and went downstairs where his car was parked.

Arriving downstairs, he heard a woman's voice crying "Jason I love you! I can and will do anything for you."

The voice of a young lady sounding like someone in her mid-twenties echoed in the dim light and warm concrete of the basement garage, a terrifying sign that his phone and bags were nearly falls from Mark's hand.

Mark was on the way towards his parked car which he never thought he was going to witness a confession scene in this warm dark place.

"I can't hear you properly! Will you talk louder!"

Mark heard a half-drunk, deep and coarse voice and got startled, even though he wasn't the one the man was talking to.

Perhaps he reacted this way because the man looked very scary and intimidating.

His tone sounded like that of a young demon.

What sounded like a confession, end up sounding like a disagreement or a misunderstanding.

Mark held his breath wanting to hear more, but only silence followed.

Mark wanted to peek or sneak up on the duo and see what's going on,

"Are you done!?" Was everything he Replied, which caused the lady to pant in disbelief.

"What! it's cruel to treat a woman like that."

Mark came out of his hiding, after realizing he will be late for work if he doesn't come out.

He felt so bad for the woman who was on her knees thinking he could save her from the man's embarrassment.

"Excuse me sir, can I pass? My car was parked behind you."

The drunk man looked at mark from head to his toe and he hissed.

Mark repeated his words again, making sure the man pay attentions to him.

The man shouted at mark angrily "Little boy! If you don't want me to kick your butt, quietly leave this place!"

Mark took a deep breath, and tried encouraging himself that he could do it.

He looked straight at the drunk man and said "Mr man if you don't leave this premises right now, I will call the estate security on you, and you definitely know what it means."

The drunk man looked at Mark from head to toe again angrily, and he pointed his finger to the lady kneeling on the floor wanting to say something to her, but he cut his words.

The man got into his car, shut the door, got out of the garage, and left the woman on her knees in the position she was confessing to the tough guy.

Mark walked over to her, handed her his handkerchief and asked the woman if she needed a ride out of this place.

The woman replied, "No, I'm fine, thanks."

"Oh, well," said Mark

Mark glanced at the woman from head to toe, thinking in his mind that 'she was not his business, and reminding himself that he needed a woman who would not fall in love.'

So, Mark waved to the woman to say goodbye, before getting into his car and heading to the office.

on arriving at the office, Mark parked his car in the office's underground garage.

Mark ran downstairs, trying to grab his bag and get his key out of the ignition at the same time, after realizing that it was already too late.

Arriving at the entrance to the office, Mark took a deep breath knowing that if his boss caught him, he would face as usual his long, tedious talk.

"Good morning, Mr. Coleman," said the receptionist stationed on the first floor of the building with a smile on her face, giving her a sign indicating that she should lower her voice.

Mark approached her and asked if "Mr. Andrew is around," the receptionist smiled and said, "Mr. Andrew is already around, and he had already checked you out today."

Mark opened his mouth exclaiming "What!"

He ran to the elevator and went upstairs to throw his bag and things into his office.

Apparently and by chance he shared his office with his longtime friend and now best friend (Dennis).

Mark opened his office door, and Mark saw his best friend pressing his phone and also smiled, and asked "Looks like you have another woman in your hands."

"I pity all those women who think they've found a man responsible," and the two burst into laughter.

Dennis straightened his back on the chair and arranged his tie properly and said "Actually I'm more than responsible, I'm rich, handsome, cute, I have swags and I'm everything a woman can wish for."

"Hmm you wish," (Mark said) both of them laughed again.

Dennis made a serious face and Mark was surprised that he asked "Dennis what is this or did Mr...." "Yes, Mr. Andrew said you should see him in his office," said by Dennis.

"Oh that man," complained Mark.

Mark dropped his key, bag, and things and arranged his table properly before going out to see Mr. Andrew on his floor.

"Hello, good morning," said Mark, and smiled at the secretary at the front door of Mr. Andrew's office, now applying make-up and lip gloss.

The stunned secretary snorted and smiled again "Hello, good morning Mark, Sorry Mr. Coleman."

Mark smiled and said "It's okay."

He asked if Mr. Andrew was inside his office but the secretary was already daydreaming if Mark would be her shining shield at night.

Mark tried to clear his throat to bring the secretary back to reality.

"Hmmm, Mr. Andrew, he's sorry. Come inside, please," said the secretary.

"Good morning sir Mr. Coleman is here to see you."

Mark walks in "Good morning, sir."

The secretary comes out and closes the door to Mr. Andrew's office.

Mr. Andrew, a very short man, whose leg does not reach the floor when sitting on a chair, suddenly burst into hysterical laughter.

"So I guess what happened today is your tire oh, no sorry maybe the traffic," Mr. Andrew said with a sarcastic sign.

"Look here Young man," said Mr. Andrew with a straight face.

"I run my company and have a set of rules so if you are not cool with them you can follow the exit door."

"Sir," Mark said in a stuttering voice, "I'm sorry, sir, I promise you this will never happen or repeat itself again."

Mr. Andrew burst into another hysterical laughter. "All this of your innocent promise is not new to me again, this is not the first time you have told me this. it's fine, go."

Mark was surprised to see Mr. Andrew let him go just like that, without feeding him his boring lectures.

"Do you still have any other things to tell me," Mr. Andrew says.

"No sir," replied Mark.

"Then what are you waiting for," said Mr. Andrew.

Mark smiled and walked out of Mr. Andrews' office.

The secretary did not notice Mark was already out of the office until he had gone half way, and the secretary rushed to him to flirt with him and ask him to have dinner later in the day.

But Mark smiled and politely declined her offer, saying he already had a plan to fix tonight and then left.

Mark hurried into his office to go tell Dennis about the new changes he had noticed in Mr. Andrew.

"Dennis, can you guess something?" said Mark.

"What is it," Dennis replied.

"I don't know how it happened but Mr. Andrew didn't shout and he didn't give me his long boring talk today." mark says

Dennis laughed and said, "Is actually because he's having his wedding this weekend."

"Wedding?, Thought he was already married to four wives," Mark said with a confused face.

"Yes, but he will marry someone else," Dennis replied.

According to the rumors I've heard, "He needs a male baby, so his wedding is this weekend," said Dennis.

"Oh, no wonder he was so cool," Mark replied with a sign.

"And the funniest thing, he invited everyone in the office," said Dennis with a laugh.

"I bet no one will be there," replied Mark in admist laughter.

"Yeah I know no one will be attending his wedding," Dennis confirmed.

They got back to face their today's work.
