6 Chapter six

"Where are we going?"

Pulling my hand away, I knew fair well to keep my distance and to be wary.

"You're beautiful and petite like a flower in a way, yet you have too many thorns keeping me all too far away. Why?"

The question bounced around my head as he kept his back facing me, his head hung low.

This wasn't my home, my land. I knew all too well.

"We're going to the Prents Forest. It's dangerous, so stay near me."

Turning around, he smiled coldly as he lead the way into the forest.

I shuddered. He seems to be hiding something, but what is it? His presence is much to powerful to be of a butler, no way!

I guess i'll just have to find that out myself.

Huffing, I followed the bipolar self-proclaimed 'butler'

Entering the forest, the atmosphere immediately caught me off guard. The forest was thick, dense, and grassy.

It was basically perfect camouflage.

Looking around, I tried to spot oddities as Elquior deadpanned and walked normally into the forest as if he owned it.

A rustle came from the bushes as bandits emerged from the trees, jumping down in camo gear and catching me off guard, while Elquior just looked bored.

Grabbing my sword, I realised that I didn't actually know how to fight, and I was just improvising at that time. We didn't have time to absquatulate* as they had already ambushed us.

The, roughly, 50 man army, looked on carelessly. We were out numbered.

Bad news. I didn't learn swordfighting at all.

Was that why my movement was sloppy, my breaths were shallow, and my physical condition had limitations and I couldn't perform so well?

I see. I'll have to train then. It'll be hard to defeat so many people...

Holding the sword tighter as I backed up into Elquior, I was slightly nervous at the fact that I was hurting somebody.

I don't want to kill, but just injure.

Inhaling and controlling my breathing, I stared forward intently, determination dancing in my eyes as I closed my eyes.

I felt nothing.

"Eh? Why isn't it working? I mean, I can do without the armour, but I wanted to practice..."

*Absquatulate: To depart hurriedly
