Book of Legends: Adrigus

(This book details events of the past, you are free to read it right now if you are interested.)

The Volcan Empire, it houses many powerful mages and swordsmen and occupies a big chunk of the Begliwick continent. It is often found in direct competition with the Galeburst dynasty.

As the battle seemed never-ending, the emperor devised an ingenious idea. to stop the endless conflict, the emperor decided to raise a powerful earthen mage.

The Volcan empire was initially well known for their profound knowledge over the fire element but as they began to expand and become a proper empire they needed all sorts of talents. They, therefore, offered credits to potential mages under the age of 18.

Although teenagers could be chosen, many children ten and under with potential ended up partaking in a harsh test of wits instead. Some were even at the risk of death after being forced to participate in arduous training. Nonetheless, the empire didn't care. They had one goal and one goal only, to expand their empire. And for that, they needed to get the upper hand against the dynasty.

Out of the large series of tests came out one child. His name was Adrigus. He had an affinity for all of the elements but his talent for the earth element far surpassed them. He was the obvious choice to act as a deterrent for the predominantly wind-based dynasty.

The empire invested heavily in Adrigus allowing him to become a powerful weapon. The dynasty suffered heavy losses against the empire for many years following his involvement. He eventually became known as the tremor due to his earth-shaking presence and his ability to change the winds of battle.

Nonetheless, the dynasty wouldn't take things lying down, under the fierce pressure of the Volcan empire the dynasty managed to improve their knowledge and skills of magic reducing Adrigus' influence on battles. Adrigus' level was no longer a rarity and his previous merits were almost entirely forgotten. He was eventually sidelined but was able to maintain his position in the palace due to his friendship with the emperor of the time.

As both forces grew, their fierce skirmishes eventually came to a stalemate. Near that time, a high difficulty dungeon had broken to the outside near their borders and both sides were forced to temporarily halt their attacks.

It had gone undetected and exploded outside during an inopportune moment. The leaders of their respective civilizations came to an agreement and sent their powerhouses to exterminate the looming threat.

Adrigus naturally formed part of the team. He and others ventured inside after eliminating the monster found on its exteriors. They presumed that for powerhouses of their level a dungeon would be a simple matter. Unexpectedly, they suffered heavy casualties.

This dungeon would be known as the first A-class dungeon and also the first of its kind to break out by the budding adventuring organizations.

The mages they had sent were the peak at the time but they were merely B-class by the standards of the present. Nonetheless, their quantity was not small nor was their experience. With over half of the team meeting their grisly end, the dungeon was eventually conquered.

The treasures found inside caused new sparks of conflicts for both civilizations. But everything has its end, and Adrigus although known as a legend was no different.

He was incapable of participating due to his injuries and secluded himself inside of the palace to study the plant pseudo-element, he hoped to find a way to expand his life through it.

Years passed but Adrigus met no success. He wrote a final letter of farewell to the world and passed away full of regret.

"My research has borne no fruits" He wrote, "I pray that there is an afterlife so that I may correct my life's regret, that I may surpass the wall that I met near the end of my journey" Adrigus' letter was short but it carried with it great emotions.

May he continue his research in the next life.
