8 Chapter 8

"Elena!" someone called my name from behind. I turned around to find Arthur running in my direction. I was still mad at him for airing me last night. I had stayed up till 2am waiting for his reply, which took forever to arrive.

"Elena" he called again when he got to my side. "Wow you walk really fast" he said trying to catch his breathe.

"Listen, just before you say anything else I just want to say I'm sorry. The wifi at home went off that's why I couldn't reply your text." he said with sincerity backing his words.

"Alright I understand that, but why didn't you up my calls."

Did I mention I called as well? I did, but he just decided not pick or answer them.

"I didn't ignore them, my phone had been on silent even before we started chatting." He answered

Arthur leaned a little closer to me "Please Elena you have to believe me." He said softly.

I was lost staring into his angel eyes, which were annoyingly hypnotising. My brain automatically shuts down when I stare at his eyes. They also locked so innocent, like he was to telling the truth. He took my right hand and squeezed it, then he brushed it gently with his thumb.

"I'm sorry if you ever thought I was ignored you. I'm honestly saying the truth"

I blushed. My cheeks burned up, and i couldn't help myself. Arthur seemed to have a way with women. The way he spoke showed he had been experienced with situations like this. I just wished I had a way with guys, just like how he has his way with the ladies.

"So what did you want to ask me yesterday?" Arthur asked.

"Can we go somewhere private? The hallway is crowded with students and teachers." I said

"Whatever pleases you dear" he said

I led Arthur to the school's garden. The garden was located behind the school building. Students hardly visited it; and asides the school library, this was the second most quiet place. The school gardener was trimming some flowers and Rose bushes.

In the middle of the garden was a fountain. The garden's landscape was circular. Several paths led to the fountain. Benches were positioned underneath the trees at different locations in the garden. A few students were seated on them all curled up in a book they were reading.

Arthur picked an empty bench in the middle of two trees. He was still holding my hand tightly. Arthur gestured to me to take my seat first, and after I sat down, he took his seat next to me.

"Beautiful place....would you believe I haven't been to this side of the school before" he said

"Really" I said acting surprised.

I and Lorenzo had spotted him with Truna some days back. She was leaning so close to him, and she kept laughing at every single thing he said.

"Yh....so what did you want to talk about?"

"It's nothing serious though. Are you looking forward to prom?" I asked. I didn't want to throw the question straight at him, gradually I'll bring it up.

"Oh yes, that day is going to be fun" he answered excitedly, and I smiled. I could tell he was excited for prom.

"What about you Elena, arebyou going with anyone?" he asked

"Yes I am. Lorenzo's going with me" I answered.

I lied, I haven't spoken to Lorenzo about it. I don't know if he would be free on that day. I would have mentioned Kevin, but he is going with Ava.

"That's great" he said.

"Did you ask Trina to be your date or was she as brave as I was?" I said

Arthur smiled at me. He raised his hand and pulled a strand of my hair behind my ear. He was quiet for some time, and I wondered if he wasn't going to answer the question.

"Actually none of the above, it was actually a game. I and some basketball players hung out last Friday, just like a guy's night out. Trina on the other hand invited us to her place for the party. In the party we played some games, just to make things interesting. We played truth or dare. Trina dared me to take her to prom or be her boyfriend for a semester. Taking her to prom was quite a small burden to carry, it was just going to be one night anyways."

"If she didn't dare you to take her to prom, did you have anyone in mind? I mean was there someone you planned on going with" I asked

"Yes I did" he answered

"Who" I asked instantly

I was starting to think he liked someone already. He had spent a week already here at school, and he already likes someone he likes.

Arhtur laughed, "Do you really want to know her?"

"Yes"

I was shocked at my outburst. Quickly, I covered my mouth with my hand, but he laughed again.

"Hold up, i have a picture of her on my phone" he said.

My heart began to race. I watched him reach for his phone in his back pocket. He unlocked it and went straight to his gallery. He scrolled through some pictires.

"Okay I found it" he said.

He gave me the phone to look at the picture, but I kept staring at him.

"There take a look, come on" he persuaded. But I didn't want to.

"I don't have to, never mind, maybe another time" I said

"No I really want you to see her, you asked for it anyways." he said.

"Are you dating her already?" I asked

"I won't answer that question until you look at the pic" he said

Gosh I didn't want to, but I indirectly asked for these. I should have expected it, I'm so stupid. I looked at the picture and I widened my eyes.

It was me, I guess.

Actually, it was Arthur and I. We took this picture the night I snuck out to hang out with Arthur, Kevin and Lorenzo. I had a cotton candy in my hand.

Why don't I have this picture?

I looked at Arthur bewildered. "What" was all I could say, in a low voice and Arthur smiled.

"Yes....you" he said

"What" i said again

Arthur caressed my cheeks gently, and then he cupped it. I saw him leaning in, but I had no idea what he was trying to do. His lips then pressed against mine, and I instantly realised he kissed me, and I kissed him back.

I had waited for this moment for so long

His kiss was gentle, and his breath was fresh. Too bad the kiss didn't last as long as I wanted it to.

"Honesty, if not because of the dare, I would have loved to take you to prom as my date." Arthur said softly.

"But despite the fact it's a dare, Trina still goes around calling you her boyfriend." I said.

"I already told her to stop, and if she doesn't, I'm going to back out of the dare and she would have to go to prom alone." he said.

"But you are aware she has a boyfriend right" I added

"Yes I'm very much aware and so is he. But the guy really doesn't care. Don't tell Trina this, but he actually has someone he's in love with. Trina is just a side chick to him. Trina always gave him whatever he wanted; money especially. Being the only child and daughter of a politician has some benefits attached to it, money really isn't a problem to them." he explained

"Then why did you still partake in the dare?" I asked.

"Trina was just trying to make her boyfriend jealous, that was the main reason for all this. Her boyfriend was present at the party, and he participated in the game. Kevin's elder brother- Darwin was there too. I thought maybe Kevin might have explained all this to you." Arthur explained

Wow, I almost felt sorry for Trina. So her boyfriend was just tolling with her feelings, but I didn't care about that piece of information.

"So there's nothing between you and Trina?" I asked

"There's nothing and they will never be anything between Trina and I" Arthu said confidently

I felt relieved. It was all just a game.
