16 Chapter 16

"Are you insane Elena? After all what he did" Rodrigo yelled. "What about Lorenzo? How would he feel about this?"

"I don't know if you remember, but this Arthur guy was the cause of your first lightning accident that night." Diego said

"No he wasn't" I said stubbornly.

There was no way Arthur was the cause of the first. I don't get why everyone was just against him, Arthur never wronged me anyways.

"I'm done with this conversation" I said and I stormed out of the room.

Who needs them anyways- I said to myself.

I can find Arthur without their help. I don't know why Kevin had to report me to my brothers.

Speaking of Kevin, I can ask his elder brother Darwin about Arthur's whereabouts. They hung out most times, I guess.

I immediately searched for Darwin's Instagram account. It took me about 45minutes, but I found him and I messaged him immediately.

Later that same day, I received a message from Darwin which said.

"Hey Elena, long time no see. How are you faring? Yes I do have Arthur's contact, but may I know why you are requesting for it?"

"Oh nothing, I need to reach him; its urgent." I replied.

After replying Darwin, I got a text from Lorenzo and my heart skipped a beat. I didn't read it immediately. I was scared, maybe my brothers, or Kevin might have told him what I was up too.

"Alright then, I'll send it right away." Darwin texted back

"Thank you" I replied, and I added a smiling emoji at the end of the text.

A minute later, Darwin sent me Arthur's contact.

I immediately messaged Arthur with a "Hi, its Elena. Text me back"

Just then, Lorenzo dropped another message. I sighed. I would have to read his messages at some point. I returned to my inbox, and I clicked on Lorenzo's contact.

"Hi. How are you feeling today? Would you be free for dinner tonight, perhaps 7:30pm or 7? Anytime convenient for you is fine by me." - his first message said

"Don't bother about where to meet me, I'll come pick you up. Please reply me when you see this text. Thank you" - his second message said.

I glanced at the wall clock, which read 11:56am. I don't think I'll be busy this evening.

"Alright, I'll see you by 7 then" I replied Lorenzo

"Great!" he texted back instantly.

I set my phone aside, and lay down on my bed. I felt sleepy, but I was thinking of what I would wear to dinner with Lorenzo. I turned to the closet. There should be something in there for me to wear. I got out of bed and crossed over to the closet. The first thing I found was a sunflower dress.

It was awfully familiar, like I had seen it somewhere before.

Anyways, looks like it would fit. I took off the clothes I had on and I tried on the dress. I was busy trying to zip up, when i heard a rap knock on my door.

"Elena! Can I come in?"

The voice belonged to Jana, she can help me with the dress.

I immediately answered the door and I forced her in. I popped my head out of the door, just to see if my brothers were nearby.

"Looking for someone?" Jana asked from behind.

I drew the door shut and I turned to her, "No not really" I answered

"Where are you off too?" Jana asked

"I have dinner plans with Lorenzo." I answered.

"You know if you didn't have anything else to where, you could have just come to me. The dress looks a little bit small anyways." Jana pointed out.

"Do you actually have what can fit me?" I asked

Jana was a tall, slender and beautiful lady. She was a little bit curvy, but I'm...you know...curvier.

I purposely asked her such a question because she doesn't look like she might have the same cloth sizes as mine.

"Off-course, I actually have o e that would fit you perfectly." She said.

"Alright, thank you" I said relieved

"Should I go get it?" she asked

"Oh no, it's a bit early. Dinner is by 7" I answered

"Why did you agree to meet Lorenzo? I heard you are searching for Arthur." Jana said

"Yes, I'm looking for Arthur, but..." I began to say before she interrupted me.

"But why" she simply said

"Because I want to see him" I answered

"Why? I'm not satisfied with that reply" Jana said

"Because...Because...Why are you suddenly interested in Arthur?" I asked trying to change the topic.

I didn't know what to say.

Why did I want to see Arthur actually?

"Oh nothing, I'm just curious." Jana said "You know me, I just want to get updated."

I looked at Jana suspiciously. I was about to ask her a question when I heard a notification sound on my phone, which actually interrupted my thoughts. I looked at my phone and smiled.

Arthur had replied.

"Hi Elena, it's being so long. I never thought I would hear from you. How have you been?" he texted

"I've been good." I replied him

"Where are you right now?" he asked

"I'm at Rodrigo's place" i replied

"Are you free for lunch this afternoon, I've actually missed your pretty eyes...lol" he said and I blushed.

"Yes I am"

"Alright then, I'll come pick you up by 1" he texted "Put on something pretty" he added

I decided to scroll through his posts right there on Instagram. It appeared he was a real estate agent now, which paid him handsomely. I saw pictures of him with some clients, friends and some of him alone.

Being a while I saw him too, gosh, he looked more handsome since I last saw him.

I scrolled some more for any pictures of him with his fiancee, or maybe a girlfriend, or a wife. But turned out he was pretty single.

Weird....but I was happy he was single.

I suddenly remembered I was having a conversation with Jana before i replied Arthur, but when I looked from my phone, Jana was gone.

I hope she wasn't offended.

Asides feeling guilty for ignoring Jana, I also had a feeling that troubled me more. I felt meeting Arthur today would be a great mistake for me tomorrow.

"Hey mama, how are you doing?"

"I'm doing good" mama replied

"How is your sister? Is she better? I miss her so much Diego. Is she next to you?"

"No mama, but I'm with Rodrigo" Diego answered

"No I spoke to him this morning already. I want to speak with Elena." Mama said.

"Yes mama, I'll go get her"

Diego walked into my room, afternoon responded to his knock against my door. He stood at the doorway, he had that questioning expression on his face.

I wondered why he stared at me that way, and I suddenly remembered I still had the dress on.

"You what, I'm not going to ask. Mama is on the phone, she wants to speak with you." he informed and I walked over to him to collect the phone.

"Mama" I called softly

"Nino" mama called "How are you doing. Mama misses you very much"

"I miss you too mama" I said

"How are you feeling? And hope Rodrigo and Diego aren't bothering you?"

"I feel good mama and no mama..." i paused to laugh "...Rodrigo and Diego aren't bothering me..."

"But she's bothering us mama" Diego yelled from behind and the three of us burst into laughter.

"Naughty Diego, put me on speaker please nino" mama said

"Okay mama"

"Diego can you hear me?" she asked

"Yes mama" he answered

He was leaning on the wall and he had a smirk on his face. "What did you say to her?" he whispered to me.

"Please, you and your elder brother shouldn't bother Elena, understood. Treat her very well okay."

"Yes mama, but you do know you're spoiling her." Diego said jokingly.

"What..." mama burst out, and Diego and I laughed silently. "...between the both of us, who spoils her more? Every time, mama don't scold Elena, it wasn't her fault. Or Elena dear, let's go out to eat, or you were that dress twice now since I bought it, let's go buy another one...at some point, I thought you loved her more than me"

"Mama....stop...you know I love you more" Diego said still laughing

"That's not what the affections you shower Elena says."

"Come on mama, remember I returned home cause of you" Diego said

"I know, but I want to see my babies all the time" mama said

"Alright mama, I think it's enough. Elena needs some rest." Diego said with a smile on his face.

"That's true, I'll call again later. Bye my babies, I love you all, send my kisses to Rodrigo as well. Muah." Mama said and the call came to an end.

"Its being a while I heard her voice" I said softly.

"Yeah....I miss her as well" Diego said

I returned to my bed and I sat at the corner of it. I then turned to where I left Diego, only to find him staring at me in an odd manner.

"What?" I suddenly asked

"Okay, I'm curious now. Why the dress? It looks small on you though, but cute." Diego said.

"Nothing, I was just looking for something to wear"

"Are you going somewhere?" he asked

"Uhmmm...not really" I answered

"If you needed clothes, you could have just come to me or Rodrigo." Diego said softly.

"I couldn't, you both were mad at me this morning, and I'm sorry" I admitted

"That's not an excuse you know, you are still our responsibility. If you need anything, just ask. Forget about our moods at that moment, please. Your happiness is our number one priority"
