Beelzebub's Grand Achievement (2)

Chapter 2: Beelzebub's Grand Achievement (2)

David's eyes sprang open.

He found himself sprawled on a clearing, which had given him a clear view of the blue and cloudless sky. He was momentarily in a daze, confused by the events that had transpired just now. But as the last bits of golden lightning buzzed on his retinas, David shuddered and unconsciously shut his eyelids.

'Don't make me experience the same shit again!' He begged inwardly, tightly squeezing his eyes.

No pain came his way, which was immensely relieving.

Beelzebub gave his odd circumstances some thoughts then, still keeping his eyes shut. For starters, it all began after he had drunk the potion, so it must have either worked perfectly or malfunctioned… for some reason…

But how could something go wrong? The system messages had congratulated him and even shocked the world, so David refused that his potion was defective.

Of course, one can argue that a broken divine potion is still a divine potion.

David's pride would never accept such bullshit, though! His class had also evolved into a legendary class!

Therefore, everything must have gone successfully, and his heart was at fault…

David couldn't think of a desire that had made him be pierced by the golden thunderbolt, but it certainly wasn't his yearning to see his family, ex, and former friends in anguish. But how could it be? What else could be more meaningful than seeing those bastards seething in anger, regretting their life choices?

'I don't know….' David whispered softly, this one piece of obscure information bothering him from the bottom of his heart.

Ever since his mother betrayed him by kicking him away from their house once he turned of age just because his step-father didn't like him, David developed a lot of trust issues and even misunderstood kindness. A lot of important relationship-related stuff eluded him, once resulting in him not receiving a promotion at work and even more.

In the Revfantasy Online world in which he swore to achieve the highest status to become a celebrity, David was set on grinding level alone, which he did for some time. Unfortunately, when fate pulled its strings, David was forced to join other players during one of his class quests.

He bonded with others and even fell in love with a girl whose eyes had been on his unique class since the start… the rest of the story wasn't anything special, for David's ex used her charm to get round their shared friends, eventually framing her boyfriend.

After that day, when all his friends turned on him and lusted for his class, David managed to successfully keep his unique power to himself, evolve it alone, and only get the help of NPCs whose relationship status was shown in numbers.

It was so insecure that many would have looked down upon knowing about it, but David couldn't care less. As long as NPC was strong or useful and his status was [Trustful], David would work with that person until his usage waned. Only five NPCs managed to become his loyal servants, knowing the extent of his abilities and network…

Those NPCs had their status as [Loyal], so Beelzebub knew he could rely on them. Even if their relationship started in different circumstances or began as a simple business…

'I should be able to call them here…' David lifted his upper body, taking a comfortable seating position.

His comfort didn't last long as David opened his system, finding his status window. He choked on his saliva, and his eyes trembled from sheer disbelief…

"I didn't want to start over!" David looked into the skies and screamed, his soft voice making him adorable.

[Beelzebub(David) Lv.1 HP: 500 MP: Infinite]

That was a status window every player had above their heads. Of course, depending on the level gap, it could be either entirely hidden or exposed. In his case, David found nothing floating above him, but he couldn't even keep his head arched back as he kept looking down on his new status.

Having infinite mana sounded awesome and mechanically broken, but David had lost years of leveling up! It would take too long to catch up to others, and they wouldn't stop grinding levels, too!

"It's not that bad… I can grind levels with my maids tanking monsters…." David opened his skill list, wishing to see the beautiful faces of his maids, only to part his lips incredulously, which with kept bobbing due to fear.

[Skill list: Beelzebub's Grand Alchemy(Legendary)(Locked)(One skill available to learn regardless of the level), Beelzebub's Magic(Legendary)(Locked)(One skill available to learn regardless of the level).]

"Where… is the servant call? Where are the rest of the skills?" David whispered flatly, refusing to believe that other skills had been stolen away from him.

He used to be able to wield nature, fire, and water magic, too! He used that for alchemy and fighting monsters alongside his servants! It was his power!

His might!

It was gone! And other convenient skills were also gone!

Going through other tabs didn't help David, either.

His eyes stopped on the [Titles] tab, which had one title etched on its system window.

[Beelzebub's Eyes(Legendary Title) - You can see ghosts.]

David's upper body hit the grass as he felt betrayed once again. This title didn't help him at all, for it was a power he used to have while wielding his epic class. It wasn't as convenient as a legendary title since David had to use a skill and waste his mana to see ghosts, but it was still a skill he had in his hands.

Of course, if he had it from the start, his alchemy would have progressed faster…

It didn't change anything, though.

Beelzebub was once again a level one player with no money and items, let alone years of grinding his levels…

He felt so naked…

"Just let me log out…." David extended his hand high and opened the system again. Using his wealth of experience maneuvering this overlay, David easily got into his status, then below…

Below his status, a button to log out should have been drawn… alas, it was not.

There was no log-out button.

David's hand, perched high above him, trembled as though he was having a seizure before dropping dead on the ground. "Is this some SAO bullshit? Trapped in the game? No way… give me a break! Stop fucking me around! Let me out! I'll grind levels anyway because this game is my work! So just let me out!"

If it was really a world without logging out, with death meaning a loss in the real world, David couldn't even comprehend what crap he had stepped into.

"Please…" He begged admins who should have been listening and looking at him from above… "Let me out."

Revfantasy Online's world was a place where common people were getting regularly killed: monsters lurked in the shadows, evil races hunted for blood and flesh, and even the world frequently caused catastrophes all around the globe!

It was a world where one wrong step cost a life.

It was exciting from a player's perspective… but from a resident's point of view, David could only shudder at the thought of living in such a world…

And as no one answered his pleas, it seemed he was forced to live here…

"Fine… I just need to find my maids."
