6 Great Destruction

"So Nitya, my dear. Care for a detailed introduction?" Vivaan questioned as soon as Avyan walked out and closed the door behind him. Nitya rolled her eyes witnessing their obvious curiosity regarding Nikith.

"He's my brother, Nikith." She introduced in reply to which both men shook hands with each other.

"Does he know?" Vivaan asked meaningfully. At first Nitya was confused but then she caught upon what Vivaan was referring to.

"Yeah." She nodded, though embarrassed upon her situation.

"So, what did you want to ask me, Nitya?" He questioned in a straightforward manner. Nitya was a little surprised but Vivaan was always a man of great perception.

"Why did Avyan do that?" She asked peering into his eyes. Her eyes clouded over as she remembered the night.

"Now Nitya, that's a question I think you should ask Avyan himself." He replied.

"By the way, Congratulations!" He said meaningfully before sticking out his hand to shake.

"What for?" Vivaan was confusing her a lot today.

"For your upcoming proposal for being Tarun's girlfriend." He announced in a cheery tone making Nitya and Nikith both shocked.

"Funny how things work out, huh? Love and friendship; great motivators for some, great destroyers for others!" He exclaimed, engrossed in his thoughts. Yet something about it struck Nitya as her eyes flashed with a realization.

**************************

Outside, the atmosphere was tensed. Prashvi was tapping her foot angrily on the ground while Tarun stood in a corner nervously. Shanaya stood next to him encouraging him to propose Nitya there and then. Although she'd prepared quite a night for Tarun and Nitya two days ago, it didn't work out. Well, she didn't know it was put to service by someone else to display their affections to the same woman. Avyan stood right outside the door, trying to listen in but all he could hear was murmurs. He couldn't make out a single word.

He had planned to stay away from Nitya but here she was all in her glory. But there was something different about her, he felt. Earlier, at the college, he couldn't meet her when he went to sign some papers for Drashti. But now, seeing her in that dress had taken his breath away for a moment. She didn't look like the crying mess he had caused yesterday. No, she looked beautiful and confident. As if, yesterday didn't happen at all for her. And that hurt him. A lot.

And on top of that, who was the guy she was with, someone who'd appeared out of nowhere? He'd seen her hugging him in front of the Principal's office. And now, she'd brought him here too. Who was he? What was their relationship? They did seem pretty close to each other.

These thoughts were making Avyan restless and he wanted to just storm inside and pull Nitya into his embrace, away from everyone. But Alas! He had himself pushed her away. And it was all just a far-fetched dream now.

He stopped pacing when he heard the door open. He looked towards it to see the guy, whatever his name was, come out. He rolled his eyes and pushed past him to enter the room. He saw Nitya smiling at something Vivaan said. However when her eyes fell on him, all the warmth and happiness left her eyes. Earlier her eyes contained hurt but now they contained an immense amount of rage, something that was all for him. A sight he couldn't bear to see!

Nitya intentionally ignored him and moved out just to find Tarun standing there with a bunch of peach daisies in his hand, which she assumed he had picked up from a random hospital room in a hurry.

'Oh no, here it comes!' She sighed internally.
