27 Camping under the Tree
After Akane pulled all the things out from her back, the group of four girls prepared for the camping night.
"Well it might have been impressive with how much Aka could pull out of her back, but this isn't a whole lot, right guys?"
"You are right, KanKan, maybe we shouldn't have asked for the changes of clothes."
"I am sorry that I couldn't carry more, eight small items are the maximum, before I feel uncomfortable and everyone can see the item showing from my back."
"No, no! Akane you did a good job! It's just, that because I asked everyone to spontaneously camp, I am really a failure as a leader, not thinking things through, maybe I should make Akane club president, she knows what to do?"
"Yuiko, don't lose hope so fast! Aren't you the leader of the club, you decided to make this group because of your passion, is that really only this far your passion can take you!? Yes, you might be impulsive, but that was the reason why we gathered around you, because we could tell that you couldn't take care of yourself! Right guys!"

"Guys, I don't know whether I should feel insulted or complimented."

"Well, I currently only have 12 Yen on me, sorry guys."
"It's ok KanKan, I only have 100 Yen."

"Great, we don't have much money we could use for the konbini..."
The girl slowly just realized what Akane said.
"How much money do you have, Akane?"
"42.069 Yen, Yui, should I say it again."
The girls brain just short circuited for a moment.
"You have 42.069 Yen on you?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"For the memes."
The girl nodded.
"Would you pay for the expenses tonight."
"It depends, are you saying that you are going to take advantage from me and my body?"
"WHAT? NO!"
"Because you would be implying that, that was hard-earned money I got from helping my Aunty out, so unless you make this deal fairer, you are going to take advantage from my hard labor."
The girl thought for a moment, then she looked at her friends.
"We are planning on using her money, right? Or am I the only jackass in the group?"
All of them looked ashamed away, before everyone admitted it.
"So, what do you guys offer me in exchange for my hard-earned money?"
They thought for a moment, before Akita shyly stepped in front.
"Everyone is complementing Aki to be fluffy, so Aki thinks of letting you touch Akis' tails and ears, of course only if you like, Akane."
"WHAT! Akita, no! Akane if you want to take advantage of someone's body, then mine, I am basically a loli, people love patting the heads of lolis, right?"
"What kind of demon lord do you think I am? Do you think I am some kind of sexual deviant that takes advantage of your bodies? Are you kidding me, is that really your opinion about me?"
The two of them started to kneel down.
"We're sorry."
"Well what do you want us to do, Aka?"
The girl started to rub her head.
"Man, I don't know, ok! I don't know what I want from you and I would gladly spent money for you all, but I don't want to be taken advantage of, you understand, I really, really want to trust you all!"
The four girls looked in shame away, the girl might have complained a bit today, but they could feel it, even though she was avoiding people on the first day, that girl really wants friend, she really wanted to like someone. But she was insecure, not herself, but of other people, she really wanted to trust, but she understood that trust could be misused and she didn't want that.
"Well, how about we first make a plan of the things we really need and then go from there!"
"Yeah that's a good idea, Yui! That way we could coordinate it and spend as little money as possible!"
"Well, we only have one tent, and it's summer and it's warm, so Aki thinks that we all just could cuddle on each other for warmth!"
"Well, even if we do that, we still need blanket because our core temperature would drop without one, can you think of a cheap alternative?"
"Well, if I use my quirk a emit a bit of warmth from my skin, does that help?"
Kanna said, blushing at her words.
"How much warmth do you emit?"
"Like, if you try to shower at 44 degrees and it's already too hot?"
"Hmm, that could work out, let's just pray we don't get sick."
"Don't we need an iron stand for the pot, so it doesn't get soot on it?"
"Right, so a little iron stand, what else?"
"Does anyone know how to do a fire?"
"I do, I'll deal with the fire problem, you just continue to think about the things we will need for the night."
The four girls wrecked their brains, trying to think of something they really need for the night.
"We still have school tomorrow, so we need things to refresh ourselves, we probably are going to need some wet wipes and probably toothbrushes and a bit of toothpaste."
"Can you still think of anything else?"
Everyone shook their head.
"Well, Akane as the leader I am going to lead you to the konbini, let's go!"

After spending about 5000 Yen, to get the bare, bare necessities for the night, the girls ate their instant noodles that had some veggies in it, because Akane didn't really wanted to make them suffer that much.
"Well, we are going to observe that thing for most of the night, right?"
"Yes Aka, you are right."
"By the way, Yui, never ever pull shit like this again, I don't want to go through this again, okay?"
Akane said menacingly, the four other girls agreeing.
"Right, my bad, I promise this is never going to happen like this again, if we camp, we are going to be prepared, promise."
"Good that you understand, because we all are going to have a bad sleep for today."
Meanwhile Yuiko was already on the ground, giving her best dogeza.
"Again, I am sorry again, I hope you can forgive me this once, I really promise that I won't drag us all through something like this again, I understand that you were worried for me and followed me because of it, but you shouldn't have been caught in my pace!"
Kanna laughed, but it wasn't a nice laugh, it was a bit menacing.
"Hahaha, Yuiko, remember the tantrum you threw as we tried to refuse you? You constantly switched position with us, to get us into compromising positions and you only stopped until we gave in to your request."
Once again, Yuikos' head was on the ground again, trying to surpass her best dogeza.
"Once again, I am sorry, I promise it won't come to something like this. I swear I'll reflect on myself."
"Fufufu, what should we do with you, Yui?"
The girl felt her spine shivering.
"KanKan, Aki thinks we scolded Yui enough already, let's just stop!"
"Fine, I wasn't in the mood to reprimand her that much anyway."
To the girls' luck one of her friend interfered in her punishment, Yuiko was once again thankful for the gods.
"Well, let's observe the tree."
And observe they did, for a long time, until the sun set and it was dark.
"Guys."

"Am I wrong or does it not shine?"
"It doesn't shine? What do you mean?"
"Yui meant that the tree doesn't shine like in the rumors, Akane."
"So, did we waste our time?"
"Probably, yeah."
"That's sad, Touko."
"Yeah it is, Aka."
Silence fell over the girls, silence over the disappointment that the rumor might be a lie.
"Yui, can you tell me when you heard about that rumor?"
"What, why would that be important now?"
"Just tell me."
"I heard it last week, ok!"
"Hmm, what could make last week any different from today?"
"Different?"
"You know, the glow could be affected by the moon cycle, maybe seasonal, maybe it happens only once a year, there could be many factors playing into a spectacle, maybe it just so happens that we missed it, of course there is a possibility that it was a lie, well anyways I don't..."
"Aka, why did you suddenly stop?"
"Can't you guys see it?"
"See what Aka, you are disturbing us a bit."
"Just wait, I'll grab one of these things."
"Akane! Wait!"
"And she's gone."
"What do you think did Akane saw, Yui?"
"Don't know, what was the thing called again she uses to see? Echolocation, maybe she heard the sound of something and now try to catch it?"
"Well, Yui, it might be connected to the glow of the cherry tree, right?"
"Yeah, that could be it KanKan, let's just hope it isn't something dangerous."
After a little while Akane was back.
"Guys, what did I catch, it had a weirdly thin silhouette."

"I caught a butterfly? Is the tree shining because of them?"
"Well, I don't see..."
"What happened, Yui?"
"The tree is shining!"
"Let me theorize, the flower nectar of the butterfly has something in them that makes the wings of these fellas' glow."
"Yeah Aka! It looks like that."
"Well, let's catch a few more of them and research a bit more about them. Maybe they are all males and do that to court the females to reproduce with them, well anyways, we need to catch them and search for the substances that causes it. I think this case might be closed by the discovery of this specimen."
"So, nothing special, or quirk, disappointing."
"We can't rule that possibility out, maybe these butterflies have a hivemind, giving around the quirk factor for the ability to glow, or something like that. We just need more research on them, before we come to conclusions."
"Yeah, but we really don't have any vessel to put them in."
"The pot."
"Right, we had a pot with a lid, thanks Touko."
"Well, what are you waiting for, let's catch butterflies!"
And so, the girls started to catch glowing butterflies for their research, at the end only Akane caught some.

A day later and after school Akane finally went back home, she was tired and a bit annoyed, she wanted a real shower and her fluffy bed. The night wasn't exactly comfortable, but at least nobody got sick.
"And Akane, how was your youthful improvised camping night?"
Fumio greeted her daughter with these words, she missed her daughter, but she wanted to coax a reaction out of her.
"Awful, never again in that kind of way, the girls smelled well and all, and I was comfortable between them, but everything else was extremely uncomfortable, we are never going to camp like that again."
Fumio laughed and patted her daughters head, well at least that was an experience she was going to remember for the rest of her life.
"And, how was the conclusion of the research?"
"No quirk, nothing supernatural, just Darwin's normal evolution theory, for whatever reason these butterflies found it a good idea to procreate with the nectar of that cherry blossom tree and start shining during it, it might be a new race. We don't care, we made it our new secret location, and these researchers should find them themselves if they want to know about them."
"Haha, a possible new race and my daughter just wants it to be a special memory between her and her new friend, haah youth."
"If you excuse me now, I want an actual shower and to sleep, these four-idiot friend of mine work me too hard."
Fumio was silent for a moment.
"They don't take advantage of you, do they?"
"Nope, do that stuff out of my own volition, I bet they are going to start feel guilty if I continue to carry them for some ways."
"Akane, aren't you a bit sadistic?"
"I might be, but that's what I need to do to show my love, else I would be too nice of a girl, don't you think so too, mother."
Fumio chuckled. Sadly, that was the truth.

Akane didn't knew how that was possible, but her new friends already found her phone number and added her to a group chat. It was called the 'mysterious society'.

Mystery Woman: Yeah, I did. I guess she didn't decide to write yet. >.<
Shining Girl: Guys, you know how shy she is, you should leave her space. -.-"

Shining Girl: Should we just wait then? %-)
Mystery Woman: ...
